High resolution x-ray diffraction and two dimensional triple axis mapping were used to characterize a group of GaN layers of about 1.1$\mu$m grown by direct current plasma molecular beam epitaxy technique on 6H-SiC(0001). A FWHM of 11.9 arcmins for an $\omega$ scan and 1.2 arcmins for an $\omega$/2$\theta$ scan were observed. A careful study of the rocking curves showed there were some large mosaics in the GaN layer and a tilt of $0.029^{\circ}$ between the GaN layer and the SIC substrate was detected. The two dimensional triple axis mapping showed that the GaN mosaica were disoriented in the (0001) plane but rather uniformed in direction perpendicular to the plane. A mosaics were disoriented in the (0001) plane but rather uniformed in direction perpendicular to the plane. A mosaic model was deduced to explain the phenomenon and the dislocation density was estimated to be about~$10^9\;\textrm{cm}^{-2}$ acc ding to the model.
This study investigates dynamic wetting behaviors of a water droplet placed on surfaces with different wettability and nano-structures. Hydrophobic and hydrophilic properties on as-received silicon wafers were prepared by fabricating thin films of hydrophobic polymer and hydrophilic nanoparticles via layer-by-layer coating. Dynamic advancing contact angle of droplets on the prepared surfaces was measured at various moving velocities of triple contact line with a high-speed video camera. As advancing velocity of triple contact line increased, dynamic advancing contact angle on the as-received silicon and hydrophobic surfaces sharply increased up to $80^{\circ}$ in the range of order of mm/sec whereas the SiO2 nanoparticle-coated hydrophilic surface maintained low contact angles of about $30^{\circ}$ and then it gradually increased in the velocity range of order of hundred mm/sec. The improved dynamic wetting ability observed on the nanostructured hydrophilic surface can benefit the performance of various phase-change heat transfer phenomena under forced convective flow.
The purpose of this study is to investigate water and after vapor transport characteristics of underwear fabrics. Experimental materials were cotton woven fabric and cotton knitted fabric, nylon tricot (untreated and hydrophilic finished) and cotton/polyester/cotton triple layer. Cotton knitted fabric have three types of knit structure (interlock, rib, plain stitch) and knit with either 38's or 60's combed yarn. And cotton woven fabric have plain weave with 60's combed yarn. As experimental methods, vapor cup test, dynamic method, vertical wicking test and transplanar uptake test were used. The results are as follows. 1) In cotton specimens, the order of water vapor transpiration (wvt) was plain > rib > interlock in the same yarn diameter. The knit fabric of thinner yarn showed the better wvt among the same knit structure. 2) In cotton specimens, the order of water absorbency was interlock > rib > plain in the same yarn diameter. the knit fabric of thicker yarn showed the better absorbency among the same knit structure. 3) When knit fabric (60's plain) is compared with woven fabric 960's plain), knit fabric showed faster rate of wvt, more amount of uptake and slower rate of water uptake than woven fabric did. 4) When compared untreated nylon with hydrophilic finished nylon, hydrophilic finished nylon showed much more water absorbency than untreated nylon did, but showed same rate of wvt. 5) The water transport characteristics of triple layer underwear fabric showed that the thinner and the lighter one, the better wvt and absorbency did.

This paper shows necessity of encapsulation layer to maximite flexibility of brittle indium-tin-oxide (ITO) on polymer substrates. And, Young's modulus (E) of encapsulation layer have an significant effect on external bending stress and the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of that have a significant effect on internal thermal stress. To compare magnitude of total mechanical stress including both bending stress and thermal stress, the mechanical stress of triple-layer structure (substrate / ITO / encapsulation layer or substrate / buffer layer / ITO) can be quantified and numerically analyzed through the farthest cracked island position. As a result, it should be noted that multi-layer structures with more elastic encapsulation material have small mechanical stress compared to that of buffer and encapsulation structure of large Young's modulus material when they were externally bent.

A triple flame in a mixing layer was studied experimentally with concentration gradient and mean velocity by using a multi-slot burner, which can stabilize the lift-off flame. Flame stabilization condition, lift-off heights, and some other characteristics were examined for methane and propane flame within a range of very low concentration gradient. Pitot-tube and LDV(Laser Doppler Velocimetry) were used for velocity. Mass spectroscopy and Rayleigh scattering signal were used for concentration gradients. Thermo-couples and SiC TFP(Thin Filament Pyrometer) were used for temperature. It was found that minimum values of the lift-off heights exist at a certain concentration gradient for constant mean velocity and this means that the propagation velocity has a maximum value. The scales of flame to the burner nozzle and intensity variation of the diffusion flame were suspected as the cause.
A precise kinematic orbit determination (P-KOD) procedure for Low Earth Orbiter(LEO) using the GPS ion-free triple differenced carrier phases is presented. Because the triple differenced observables provide only relative information, the first epoch's positions of the orbit should be held fixed. Then, both forward and backward filtering was executed to mitigate the effect of biases of the first epoch's position. p-KOD utilizes the precise GPS orbits and ground stations data from International GPS Service (IGS) so that the only unknown parameters to be solved are positions of the satellite at each epoch. Currently, the 3-D accuracy off-KOD applied to CHAMP (CHAllenging Min-isatellite Payload) shows better than 35 cm compared to the published rapid scientific orbit (RSO) solution from GFZ (GeoForschungsZentrum Potsdam). The data screening for cycle slips is a particularly challenging procedure for LEO, which moves very fast in the middle of the ionospheric layer. It was found that data screening using SNR (signal to noise ratio) generates best results based on the residual analysis using RSO. It is expected that much better accuracy are achievable with refined prescreening procedure and optimized geometry of the satellites and ground stations.

In this study, we prepared the solution-based In-Ga-Zn oxide thin film transistors (IGZO TFTs) of multistacked active layer and characterized the gate bias instability by measuring the change in threshold voltage caused by stacking. The solutions for IGZO active layer were prepared by In:Zn=1:1 mole ratio and the ratio of Ga was changed from 20% to 30%. The TFTs with multistacked active layer was fabricated by stacking single, double and triple layers from the prepared solutions. As the number of active layer increases, the saturation mobility shows the value of 1.2, 0.8 and 0.6 (). The electrical properties have the tendency such as decreasing. However when gate bias VG=10 V is forced to gate electrode for 3000 s, the threshold voltage shift was decreased from 4.74 V to 1.27 V. Because the interface is formed between the each layers and this affected the current path to reduce the electrical performances. But the uniformity of active layer was improved by stacking active layer with filling the hole formed during pre-baking so the stability of device was improved. These results suggest that the deposition of multistacked active layer improve the stability of the device.
The bow wave breaking and the viscous interaction of stern wave are studied by simulating the free-surface flows. The Navier-Stokes equation is solved by a finite difference method in which the body-fitted coordinate system, the wall function and the triple-grid system are invoked. After validation, the calculations are extended to turbulent flows. The wave elevation at the Reynolds number of $10^4$ is much less than that at $10^6$ although the Froude number is the same. The numerical appearance of the sub-breaking waves is qualitatively supported by experimental observation. They are also applied to study the stern flow of S-103 for which extensive experimental data are available. Although the interaction between separation and the stern wave generation are not yet clear, the effects of the bow wave on the development of the boundary layer flows are concluded to be significant.

The effects of surface roughness on a spatially-developing turbulent boundary layer (TBL) were investigated by performing direct numerical simulations of TBLs over rough and smooth walls. The Reynolds number based on the momentum thickness was varied in the range $Re_{\theta}=300{\sim}1400$. The roughness elements used were periodically arranged two-dimensional spanwise rods, and the roughness height was $k=1.5{\theta}_{in}$, which corresponds to $k/{\delta}=0.045{\sim}0.125$. To avoid generating a rough wall inflow, which is prohibitively difficult, a step change from smooth to rough was placed $80{\theta}_{in}$ downstream from the inlet. The spatially-developing characteristics of the rough-wall TBL were examined. Along the streamwise direction, the friction velocity approached a constant value and a self-preserving form of the turbulent stress was obtained. Introduction of the roughness elements affected the turbulent stress not only in the roughness sublayer but also in the outer layer. Despite the roughness-induced increase of the turbulent stress in the outer layer, the roughness had only a relatively small effect on the anisotropic Reynolds stress tensor in the outer layer. Inspection of the triple products of the velocity fluctuations revealed that introducing the roughness elements onto the smooth wall had a marked effect on vertical turbulent transport across the whole TBL. By contrast, good surface similarity in the outer layer was obtained for the third-order moments of the velocity fluctuations.
