The purpose of this study is to present methods for determining the k most vital arcs (k-MVAs) in the minimum spanning tree problem(MSTP) using evolutionary algorithms. The problem of finding the k-MVAs in MSTP is to find a set of k arcs whose simultaneous removal from the network causes the greatest increase in the total length of minimum spanning tree. Generally, the problem which determine the k-MVAs in MSTP has known as NP-hard. Therefore, in order to deal with the problem of real world the heuristic algorithms are needed. In this study we propose to three genetic algorithms as the heuristic methods for finding the k-MVAs in MSTP. The algorithms to be presented in this study are developed using the library of the evolutionary algorithm framework(EAF) and the performance of the algorithms are analyzed through the computer experiment.
Due to the nature of the conjunctive Cone Penetration Test(CPT), which does not verify the actual sample directly, geotechnical engineers commonly classify the underground geomaterials using CPT results with the classification diagrams proposed by various researchers. However, such classification diagrams may fail to reflect local geotechnical characteristics, potentially resulting in misclassification that does not align with the actual stratification in regions with strong local features. To address this, this paper presents an objective method for more accurate local CPT soil classification criteria, which utilizes C4.5 decision tree models trained with the CPT results from the clay-dominant southern coast of Korea and the sand-dominant region in South Carolina, USA. The results and analyses demonstrate that the C4.5 algorithm, in conjunction with oversampling, outlier removal, and pruning methods, can enhance and optimize the decision tree-based CPT soil classification model.

Madhupur National Park (MNP) is one of the last remaining patches of old-growth natural Sal forest left in Bangladesh where the forest is tropical moist deciduous type. A study was revealed to assess the tree species diversity and composition in this area. For determining tree species the study was conducted through extensive random quadrat survey methods with $20m{\times}20m$ sized plots. Results of the study indicated that there were 139 tree species belonging to 100 genera and 40 families. The quadrat survey assessed the basal area, stem density, diversity indices and importance value index of the tree species having ${\geq}5cm$ D.B.H (Diameter at Brest Height). The basal area and stem density of the tree species were $20.689{\pm}1.08m^2/ha$ and $1412.93{\pm}64.27stem\;ha^{-1}$ while, diversity indices, i.e. Shannon-Wiener's diversity, Simpson's evenness, Margalef's species richness and Pielou's dominance indices indicated poor diversity in comparison to that of other PAs (Protected Areas) in South-Eastern region of Bangladesh. The structural composition based on height and D.B.H through reverse-J shaped curve indicated higher regeneration and recruitment but removal of trees of large growth classes. Sal (Shorea robusta) was the most dominant tree species that accounts 75% of the total tree individuals in the natural forest patches. However, some associates of Sal, i.e. Bhutum (Hymenodictyon orixensis), Gadila (Careya arborea), and Kusum (Schleichera oleosa) etc. were seemed to be rare in MNP.
Colored compounds adsorption from the textile dyeing effluents on activated carbons produced from various indigenous vegetable sources by zinc chloride activation is studied. The most important parameters in chemical activation were found to be the chemical ratio of $ZnCl_2$ to feed (3:1), carbonization temperature (460-470 $^{\circ}C$) and time of activation (75 min). The absorbance at 511 nm (red effluent) and 615 nm (blue effluent) are used for estimation of color. It is established that at optimum temperature ($50^{\circ}C$), time of contact (30-40 min) and adsorbent loading (2 g/L), activated carbons developed from rain tree (Samanea saman) saw dust and blackberry (Randia formosa) tree saw dust showed great capability to remove color materials from the effluents. It is observed that adsorption of reactive dyes by all types of activated carbons is more than that of disperse dyes. It is explained that because of its acidic nature the activated carbon can adsorb better reactive dye particles containing large number of nitrogen sites and $-SO_3Na$ group in their structure. The use of activated carbons from the indigenous biomass would be economical, because saw dusts are readily available waste worldwide.

Given a distribution of pebbles on the vertices of a connected graph G, a pebbling move is defined as the removal of two pebbles from some vertex and the placement of one of those pebbles at an adjacent vertex. The t-pebbling number, $f_t(G)$, of a connected graph G, is the smallest positive integer such that from every placement of $f_t(G)$ pebbles, t pebbles can be moved to any specified vertex by a sequence of pebbling moves. A graph G has the 2t-pebbling property if for any distribution with more than $2f_t(G)$ - q pebbles, where q is the number of vertices with at least one pebble, it is possible, using the sequence of pebbling moves, to put 2t pebbles on any vertex. In this paper, we determine the t-pebbling number for the middle graph of a complete binary tree $M(B_h)$ and we show that the middle graph of a complete binary tree $M(B_h)$ satisfies the 2t-pebbling property.

Anammox reactor seeded with sewage sludge from RBC reactor and anaerobic granule from full-scale UASB reactor treating distillery wastewater was operated. Mixed granule and suspended sludge in the ammonium oxidizing process were taken and analyzed to investigate microbial community structure by molecular methods such as gene cloning and phylogenetic tree analysis after 250 days of continuous cultivation. The average nitrogen removal rate showed $0.9kg\;N/m^3-day$ after 250 days of continuous operation, then the maximum nitrogen removal rate showd $1.9kg\;N/m^3-day$ when $2.1kg\;N/m^3-day$ of nitrogen loading rate was applied. As results of gene cloning and phylogenetic tree analysis, Three kinds of phylum were found to be Proteobacteria, Acidobacteria and Planctomycetes (anammox bacteria) in mixed granule. Five kinds of phylum were found to be Proteobacteria, Chlorobi, Planctomycetes, Nitrospirae and Verrucomicrobia in suspended sludge. We found planctomycete KSU-1 and putative new anammox bacteria in the reactor. Microbial structure represented different consortia depending on the types of sludge in the anammox reactor.

This paper is a study on Dual Tree Complex Wavelet Transform, which improved directional information for efficient image processing. Dual Tree Complex Wavelet Transform satisfies characteristics of shift invariance, and includes 6 directional information, which is more than previous Discrete Wavelet Transform. However, in images of buildings, there are many horizontal and vertical edge components. Therefore, all the high-frequency components of image are not expressed by 6 directional information subbands. This paper proposes 8-directional Complex Wavelet Transform with excellent high-frequency separation features by creating horizontal vertical($0^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$) subband besides 6 directional information subband of previous Dual Tree Complex Wavelet Transform. The proposed method can create and combine various directional information subbands according to features of image. Performance is evaluated by applying the method to noise removal.
This study was conducted to provide appropriate tending operation strategies for the natural deciduous forest, by the method of evaluating the stand quality, suggesting the removal plan for the undesirable trees, and predicting improvement cutting practice by tree quality evaluation. The results showed that average number of trees per ha was 717 stems, average DBH was 21.1cm. and average height was 13.6m. Canopy dominant species were in the order of Quercus serrata, Q. variabilis, Q. mongolica, Styrax obassia, and Ulmus davidiana var. japonica. Based on grades of four tree form factors for all tree in the study plots, we estimate the change of tree numbers. DBH and height with the improvement cutting by different tree grade. When the higher tree grade was applied to tending operation, the number of stem was decreased, but the values of DBH and height were not changed much, predicted to improve the stand quality.

The objective of this work is to study the feasibility of the preparation of the activated carbon (AC) from coconut tree flowers using high temperature fluidized bed reactor (HTFBR). The activating agent used in this work is steam. The reactor was operated at various activation temperature (650, 700, 750, 800 and $850^{\circ}C$) and activation time (30, 60, 120 and 240 min) for the production of AC from coconut tree flowers. Effect of activation time and activation temperature on the quality of the AC preparation was observed. Prepared AC was characterized in-terms of iodine number, methylene blue number, methyl violet number, ethylene glycol mono ethyl ether (EGME) surface area and SEM photographs. The best quality of AC from coconut tree flowers (CFC) was obtained at an activation temperature and time of $850^{\circ}C$ and 1 hr restectively. The effectiveness of carbon prepared from coconut tree flowers in adsorbing crystal violet from aqueous solution has been studied as a function of agitation time, carbon dosage, and pH. The adsorption of crystal violet onto AC followed second order kinetic model. Adsorption data were modeled using both Langmuir and Freundlich classical adsorption isotherms. The adsorption capacity $q_m$ was 277.78 mg/g., equilibrium time was found to be 180 min. This adsorbent from coconut tree flowers was found to be effective for the removal of CV dye.

The accelerated pace of climate crisis due to continuous industrialization and greenhouse gas emissions necessitates sustainable solutions that simultaneously address mitigation and adaptation to climate change. Naturebased Solutions (NbS) have gained prominence as viable approaches, with Green Infrastructure being a representative NbS. Green Infrastructure involves securing green spaces within urban areas, providing diverse climate adaptation functions such as removal of various air pollutants, carbon sequestration, and isolation. The proliferation of Green Infrastructure is influenced by the quantification of improvement effects related to various projects. To support decision-making by assessing the climate vulnerability of Green Infrastructure, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has developed i-Tree Tools. This study proposes a comprehensive evaluation approach for climate change adaptation types by quantifying the climate adaptation performance of urban Green Infrastructure. Using i-Tree Canopy, the analysis focuses on five urban green spaces covering more than 30 hectares, considering the tree ratio relative to the total area. The evaluation encompasses aspects of thermal environment, aquatic environment, and atmospheric environment to assess the overall eco-friendliness in terms of climate change adaptation. The results indicate that an increase in the tree ratio correlates with improved eco-friendliness in terms of thermal, aquatic, and atmospheric environments. In particular, it is necessary to prioritize consideration of the water environment sector in order to realize climate change adaptive green infrastructure, such as increasing green space in urban areas, as it has been confirmed that four out of five target sites are specialized in improving the water environment.
