KTX역사 및 일반철도역사의 환승저항 산정 (A Study of Transfer Impedance of KTX and Rail Stations)

  • 환승은 대중교통의 대표적인 취약점으로 꼽히는 불편함으로, 대중교통의 경쟁력을 약화시키는 요소이다. 이에 환승으로 인한 불편함 중 개선가능한 요소들을 체계적이고 효과적으로 개선하기 위하여 환승시설 및 환승체계의 물리적 요소들에 대한 보행자 편의성을 계량화하여 환승역사의 환승 편의성에 대한 객관적 평가기준을 마련하고자 한다. 본 연구는 특히 KTX 역사 및 철도 역사를 대상으로 지역간 통행에 있어서 환승역사의 물리적 특성이 환승수단의 선택에 미치는 영향을 파악하고 그 과정에서 환승저항 모형을 구축하였다. 또한 이를 바탕으로 국내 주요 KTX역사 및 철도역사 환승시설을 대상으로 환승저항값을 산정하여 비교하였다. KTX 역사와 철도역사의 물리적 요소들 중 환승 의사결정에 유의하게 영향을 미치는 요소는 환승패스의 외부보행거리, 환승패스의 내부보행거리, 계단 수, 에스컬레이터 수로 동일하게 나타났으나 환승저항 요소의 상대적 크기에 있어서는 차이가 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 에스컬레이터 1대는 약 1~3분의 체감시간 절감 효과를 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 산출된 환승저항 모형은 환승역사별 시설여건을 비교하고 시설개선의 우선순위를 판단하는 데에 객관적 지표로 활용될 수 있을 것이라 기대된다.

수익성을 감안한 경전철의 최적노선 결정방법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Determination of Optimum L.R.T Route from the Viewpoint of Revenue Maimization Principles)

  • Although subway system continues to be the backbone of transportation systems in a city like Seoul, there will still be areas across the city where subway services are not avaliable. Interest has steadily grown to fill this missing routes in overall urban transportation system. Light Rail Transit (L.R.T) system has been recently thought to be an appropriate mode of transportation by businessmen, professionals and transportation industry. In this regards, the purpose of this study is to explore whether L.R.T can be a feasible form of urban rail mode in the context of Seoul. First, the study develops the mathematical models to derive optimum route networks and stations. Integer Programming is employed to determine whether alternative routes are financially viable from the viewpoint of revenue maximization principles. Second, mathematical models developed are applied to Yoido area in order to examine the validity of model structures. The models constructed turns out be capable of handling alternative routes and stations. Application of models are successfully carried out to derive financially feasible set of routes and stations.

인터모달 추진 정책과 효과에 관한 비교연구 (Comparative Study of the Effects of the Intermodal Freight Transport Policies)

  • Purpose - The Korean government has devised intermodal transportation policies and granted subsidies to shippers and logistics companies that made a conversion of transportation means through the policies. This provides support by expanding the complex uniform railroad transportation and overhauling the deteriorated railroad facilities. As for 2013, however, the freight transportation percentage of railroad was 4.5% in tons and 8.5% in ton kilometers. Meanwhile, since the 1990s, developed countries such as the U.S. and Europe have been trying to expand intermodal freight transport with a legal and institutional support to build a logistics system corresponding with social and economic environmental changes. In this study, I set out to examine the effects of the intermodal freight transport policies in the EU and the U.S., and to explore the direction of setting up a rail intermodal transport system in South Korea. Research design, data, and methodology - The paper used a qualitative research methodology through the literature review. First, was an overview of Intermodal transportation in the EU, U.S. and UN. Second, it describes the development of transport in Europe and the U.S. with particular emphasis on intermodal freight transport. Third, it explores the direction of setting up a intermodal freight transport in South Korea. The last section contains concluding remarks. Results - As for the EU, it has been promoting integration between transport and intermodal logistics network designs while utilizing ITS or ICT and supports for rail freight intermodal by giving reduction to a facilities fee or subsidizing for rail freight in order to minimize the cost of external due to freight transport. On the other hand, as for the U.S., it has been made up of an industrial-led operating project and has been promoting it to improve accessibility between intermodal hubs and cargo terminals through intermodal corridor program, and an intermodal cargo hub access corridor projects, etc. Moreover, it has tried to construct intermodal transport system using ITS or ICT and to remove Barrier. As a result, in these countries, the proportion of intermodal freight transport is going to be the second significant transport compared with rail and maritime transport. An Effective rail intermodal transport system is needed in South Korea, as seen in the case of these countries. In order to achieve this object, the following points are required to establish radical infrastructure policy; diversify investment financing measures taken under public-private partnerships, legal responsibilities, improvement of utilization of existing facilities to connect the railway terminal and truck terminal, and enhancement service competitiveness through providing cargo tracking and security information that combines the ITS and ICT. Conclusions - This study will be used as a basis for policy and support for intermodal freight transport in South Korea. In the future, it is also necessary to examine from the perspective of the shipper companies using the rail intermodal transport, ie, recognition of shipper, needed institutional supports, and transportation demand forecasting and cost-effective analysis of the railway infrastructure systems improvement.

  • Mobility is an essential human need. Human survival and societal interaction depend on the ability to move people and goods. Efficient mobility systems are essential facilitators of economic development. Cities could not exist and global trade could not occur without systems to transport people and goods cheaply and efficiently. Rail has been considered as one of the important components of the transportation infrastructure required to service and improve the performance and productivity of an economy. In Nigeria, the rail infrastructure built by the colonial master several decades ago has been left in a state of total deterioration. This long neglect was occasioned by the failure of the government to pay adequate attention to infrastructure development. There is a vital and urgent need for rail infrastructure development in Nigeria. This study presents a systematic review of the evolution of rail, the current nature of railway infrastructure delivery in Nigeria, and offers possible suggestions on how to achieve an effective and sustainable rail infrastructure delivery in Nigeria. A thorough literature search of academic databases was conducted on current research trends on the subject of railway infrastructure by systematically reviewing selected published articles from reputable research domains. The analysis of the selected articles revealed the following among others (1) the existing railway infrastructure is in a state of mess and not sustainable, and (2), Government's investment/commitment in rail infrastructure seems inadequate compared to what is obtainable in other developed countries. Rail infrastructure development cannot be left to the Federal government of Nigeria to solve on its own; collaboration and participation are required. Government as a matter of priority should devote considerable attention to the development of rail infrastructure to harness the economic potential and transformation that sustainable rail infrastructural projects will provide.

  • A major advantage of the area in and around Braunschweig is its concentration of major research institutes and small to large enterprises dealing with different modes of transportation. For many years, aviation has been a particular focus. The research institutes have aircraft and helicopters equipped especially for research projects, as well as other laboratory equipment, allowing simulation and testing of air traffic application both virtually and on real aircraft. In addition, with the Luftfahrtbundesamt (equivalent organization to FAA) and the Bundesstelle $f{\"{u}}r$ Flugunfalluntersuchung (equivalent to NTSB) both located at the Research Airport, it enables direct contact with two key air-traffic safety authorities. The institutes of DLR and the Technical University of Braunschweig are very active in rail transportation applications. Cooperation with the market leader in rail automation - Siemens Rail Automation, also located in Braunschweig - and with other companies in the Braunschweig region means that safety-critical road applications and mobility research is available due to the activities of a number of institutes. Cooperation with Volkswagen (VW) and other companies in the region ensure access to the market leaders' know-how in this sector. Current European activities within framework of the Galileo project offer particularly good opportunities for the Research Airport to leverage its expertise and position itself internationally as a specialist in safety-critical transport applications - the centre is an initiative of Niedersachsen and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Transport Location and navigation plays a central role in all modes of transport - air, road and rail. The market is being revolutionized by the increasing integration of GNSS. The realization of the Galileo system will provide additional opportunities for the Research Airport: Galileo as a civil operated system offers service guarantees especially in the area of safety-critical applications in transportation. Notably standards, processes and authorizations related to the certification of safety-critical applications in the areas of air, road and rail transportation are still to be determined. GAUSS, located at the Research Airport Braunschweig, as an European centre of excellence for simulation, testing and certification of safety-critical applications can offer its expertise to validate the services guaranteed by the Galileo concessionaire.

  • 2005년 교토의정서가 발효되면서 세계는 에너지절감 및 저탄소 수단위주의 대중 교통정책이 펼쳐지고 있다. 우리나라는 현재 세계 8위의 탄소배출국이며 2013년부터는 온실가스 감축의무대상국에 포함될 예정이다. 본 논문에서는 국가교통시설의 투자전략을 고효율 및 저탄소 정책을 달성할 수 있도록 녹색교통수단인 철도를 중심으로 대중교통체계를 개편하기 위해 다양한 추진전략을 제시하였으며 추진전략은 크게 속도, 접근성, 도시개발, 유비쿼터스 측면에서 고려하였다. 본 연구에서 제시한 4가지 주요전략은 1시간철도, Seamless 30, Rail Urbanism, U-Rail 로 정의 하였으며 1시간철도는 1시간대 연결 가능한 고속철도망 구축, Seamless 30은 주요 거점역까지 30분 이내 접근, Rail Urbanism은 철도기반의 도시계획 실현, U-Rail은 Ubiquitous 기반의 철도서비스 제공이라는 목표를 설정하였다. 각 추진전략별 세부추진과제를 수립하여 교통분야의 전문가를 중심으로 AHP 분석을 실시하였으며 각 세부추진과제별 추진 우선순위를 도출하여 단기, 중기, 장기로 구분하여 Action Plan을 제시하였다.

연안운송의 활성화를 위한 연계체계 구축방안에 관한 연구 (Developing Sea-Ground Cargo Linkages for Facilitating Coastal Transportations)

  • The efficiency and effectiveness of freight transportation within and across Northeast Asia playa key role to achieve competitive advantages against other competing hubs in this area. However, the majority of local freight has been carried by ground transportation and the share of costal shipping has been decreasing for its transportational complexity and poor cargo works. In this paper, we discuss the prerequisites of efficient cargo linkage system from the perspectives of road, rail, ocean, and the service providers. Specifically, we identify that the balanced capacity of road/rail transportation system with costal freight system is a crucial component for facilitating coastal shipping. Other requirements such as the efficient on-dock container yard (ODCY), dedicated ports and ships, and the service provider of door-to-door transportation for short sea shipping are highlighted in order to secure the serviceability and availability of streamlined costal shipping. Further, we elaborate these requirements to facilitate costal cargo shipping in Korea.

문경선 운영 재개에 따른 이용수요 예측 연구 (A Study on forecasting of the Transportation Demand Mungyeng Line)

  • Mungyeng line(Jupyung${\sim}$Mungyeng) was closed due to a rapid decrease in demand in 1995. However, as the rail transportation demand is expected to increase with the plan to develop a tourist resort and a traffic network in Mungyeng area, it is required to forecast future demand to meet the change of transportation environment in this region. This study predicts the rail transportation demand and analyzes financial benefit in operator's side in case of reopening this line, based on nation-wide traffic volume data from Korean Transportation Database(KTDB). The results of this research can be applied to not only establishing a train operation plan also improving customer service. Moreover, Korail will have an opportunity to develop new business by linking train service to tourist attractions around the Mungyeng area.

철도 화물 수송수단 선택 특성 연구 (Mode Choice Characteristics of Rail Freight Transportation)

  • 본 연구는 우리나라 화주의 수송수단 선택특성을 파악하는 목적으로 수행하였다. 모형의 형태는 개별행태모형이며 SP 자료를 이용하였다. SP 조사는 실험설계를 통해 준비하였다. 고려한 요인은 수송시간, 수송비용, 서비스 수준이다. 연구에서 도출된 시사점은 철도수송의 수요를 증대시키기 위해서는 수송비용을 감소시키는 전략이 가장 효과적이라는 것이다. 화물 품목별로 설명하면, 컨테이너는 수송비용의 감소와 더불어 수송시간을 단축시키고 서비스 수준을 개선할 때 공로수송에 비하여 경쟁력을 확보할 수 있는 것으로 평가되었다. 반면에 양회와 철강 등 벌크화물은 다른 요소보다 수송비용을 인하하는 정책이 효과적이다.

지역간 철도역의 열차운행체계 연구 (Train Service Analysis of Intercity Rail Station)

  • 지역간 철도역을 운행하는 열차운영계획 또는 열차 정차횟수에 대한 논리는 매우 중요한 문제이다. 현재까지 철도운영회사는 지역의 민원, 통행패턴, 현재까지의 운행실적 등을 근거로 하여 필요할 때마다 열차운행계획을 수립하고 있으며, 각 지방자치단체의 추가역 설치 또는 정차횟수 증대 요구에 대하여 적절한 대응이 미흡하였다. 본 연구에서는 철도역 정차횟수 선정에 영향을 줄 수 있는 요인들에 대한 분석과 정차에 가장 큰 영향을 주는 요소인 수송수요를 근거로 하여 예정된 정차역을 대상으로 적정 정차횟수를 설정하는 방법에 대해 분석하고자 하였다. 정차의 문제는 수송수요와 밀접한 관련이 있으며, 수송수요는 여러 독립변수에 의해서 영향을 받게 된다. 즉, 역별 이용자수는 해당역의 정차빈도와도 밀접한 관련을 가지고 있으며, 역 통과에 따른 통행시간 절감으로 인해서 타 교통수단에서 전환되는 수요와 역 통과에 따른 해당역의 이용자수 감소 등이 복합적으로 발생하게 된다. 정차역 선정은 먼저 전체적인 이용자의 관점에서 예측된 수송수요를 최대한 수용하는 방향으로 정차역을 설정하는 것을 우선적으로 고려하였으며, 역별 정차횟수를 기준으로 적정 열차운행계획을 설정하고자 하였다. 향후 연구과제로는 운영자의 관점에서 수송수요를 최대화하는 전략 이외에도 운행비용을 고려하여 수익을 최대화하는 전략 방안의 연구가 필요하다고 본다.
