The purpose of this research is to study the charateristics and manufacture of a composite heat pipe system with rotational and static pipe. A composite heat pipe system were tested to obtain the relationship between the expansion injector and auxiliary expansion for the motion of the working fluid by the experimental results. In addition the heat transport characteristics were found based on wall temperature of rotor, expansion injector, storage tank and vapor temperature. Water is used as working fluid of heat pipes. As the results of experiments, the composite heat pipe was operated for long times, 10 hour above with various rotational speed in performance. There were a few unexpected data by the capillary pumped loop at small working fluid, but as a whole the testing was successful.

Inorganic-organic hybrid multilayers were formed on the plastic substrate to enhance the barrier properties of substrate to water vapor and oxygen transport. Plasma pretreatment of substrate with $Ar/O_2$ lead to adhesion improvement and the densification of inorganic layer on the substrates. Combination of $SiO_xN_y$ layer and silanenanoclay composite layer offered quite good barrier properties (WVTR and OTR) to PES substrate.
The characteristics of flame propagation in inert particle-laden $H_2$/Air premixed gas are numerically investigated on this study. The 2nd order TVD scheme is applied to numerical analysis of governing equations and multi-step chemical reaction model and detailed transport properties are sued to solve chemical reaction terms. Radiation heat transfer is computed by applying the finite volume method to a radiative transfer equation. The burning velocities against the mole fractions of hydrogen agree well with results performed by different workers. The inert particles play significant roles in the flame propagation on account of momentum and heat transfer between gas and particles. Gas temperature, pressure and flame propagation speed are decreased as the loading ratio of particle is increased. Also the products behind flame zone contain lots of water vapor whose absorption coefficient is much larger than that of unburned gas. Thus, the radiation effect of gas and particles must be considered simultaneously for the flame propagation in a mixture of $H_2$/Air and inert particles. As a result, it is founded that because the water vapor emits much radiation and this emitted radiation is released at boundaries as radiant heat loss as well as reabsorbed by gas and particles, flame propagation speed and flame structure are altered with radiation effect.
This work demonstrates a method for modeling of electrical conductivity in high-temperature proton-conducting oxides. Total conductivity was calculated assuming that it comprises partial conductivities contributed by protons, oxygen ions and electron holes. From the polt $\sigma_{tot}$ vs. $po_2\;{1/4}$ in wet atmosphere, thermodynamic and kinetic parameters were obtained representing transport properties such as concentration and mobility of the charge-carrying defects. The formulas for the calculation of partial conduction were derived based on the defect structure of HTPCs. Illustrative calculation were made for $SrCe_{0.95}Yb_{0.05}O_{2.975}$ system.
Meteorological imager on the Multi-functional Transport Satellite (MTSAT-IR), which has been operating formally since 28 June 2005, was intercalibrated with a polar orbit satellite [Aqua Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (Aqua/MODIS)] as a well-calibrated instrument. The intercalibration method used in this study was developed by the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS). This was done for the infrared window channels. The differences of MTSAT-IR and MODIS were are -0.26 K for $11\;\mu m-IR$ window channel, 0.40 K for $12\;\mu m-IR$, window channel, and -0.67 K for $6.7\;\mu m-water$ vapor channel.
Numerical analysis and experimental study are performed to investigate the effect of heat load and operating temperature on the thermal performance of several variable conductance heat pipe (VCHP) with screen meshed wick. The heat pipe is designed in 200 screen meshes, 500 mm length and 12.7 mm outer diameter tube of copper, water (4.8 g) is used as working fluid and nitrogen as non-condensible gas (NCG). Heat pipe used in this study has evaporator, condenser and adiabatic section, respectively. Analysis values and experimental data of wall temperature distribution along axial length are presented for heat transport capacity, condenser cooling water temperature change, degrees of an inclination angle and operating temperature. These analysis and experiment give the follow findings: For the same charging mass of working fluid, the operating temperature of heat pipe becomes to be high with the increasing of charging mass of NCG. When the heat flux at the evaporator section increases, the vapor pressure in the pipe rises and consequently compresses the NCG to the condenser end part and increases the active length of the condenser. From previous process, it is found out we can control the operating temperature effectively and also the analysis and experimental results are relatively coincided well.
An efficient cooling system is essential for the electronic packaging such as a high-luminance LED lighting. A special heat transport technology, Pulsating Heat Pipe (PHP), can be applied to the cooling of LED lighting. In this paper, the operational characteristics of the PHP in the imposed thermal boundary conditions of LED lighting were experimentally investigated. The experimental PHP was made of copper tubes of internal diameter of 2.1 mm. The working fluids of ethanol, FC-72, water, acetone and R-123 were chosen for comparison. The results showed that an optimum range of charging ratio exists for high cooling performance; 50% for most of the fluids. Among the five working fluids, water showed the highest heat transfer rate of 260 W. Two distinguished characteristics of pulsating direction were identified. It is also identified that high vapor pressure gradient is one of key parameters for better heat transfer performance.
Performances of Taekwondo fabrics were evaluated in respect of fiber component. yarn count, weave structure and wearing comfort. As a beginning step, we investigated the present situation of Taekwondo wears by questionnaire from pro and amateur Taekwondo players. Samples employed in this study were cotton/nylon blend fabric that was newly woven for this study as well as fabrics of current Taekwondo wears for sale in the market. Their fundamental properties measured were such as air permeability, water vapor transport. wickability, absorption rate, Qmax values, thermal conductivity, durability, hand value, and etc. In addition, subjective wearing sensations were evaluated using Taekwondo wears made of those fabrics. From the results of the objective measurement and the subjective wearing test, we estimated the total fitness of fabrics as a Taekwondo wear. From the questionnaire we could see that pro players and amateurs wanted highly absorbing, quick drying, and soft-tough and complained abrasive surfaces and static elasticity of current fabrics. In view of the results so far achieved, nylon blended fabrics newly woven in this study, showed better comfort-related properties from both of the objective and subjective tests. It was also represented that finer yams enhanced water absorption and touch, and fabrics with rough surface such as honeycomb weave was superior in wearing comfort as well as aesthetic appearance.
Time-dependent buckling of embedded straight concrete columns armed with Silicon dioxide($SiO_2$) nano-particles exposed to fire is investigated in the present study for the fire time. The column is simulated mathematically with Timoshenko beam model. The governing mass conservation equations to describe heat and moisture transport in concrete containing free water, water vapor, and dry air in conjunction with the conversion of energy are considered. The characteristics of the equivalent composite are determined using Mori-Tanaka approach. The foundation around the column is simulated with spring and shear layer. Employing nonlinear strains-displacements, energy methods and Hamilton's principal, the governing equations are derived. Differential quadrature method (DQM) is used in order to obtain the critical buckling load and critical buckling time of structure. The influences of volume percent of $SiO_2nano-particles$, geometrical parameters, elastic foundation and concrete porosity are investigated on the time-dependent buckling behaviours of structure. Numerical results indicate that reinforcing the concrete column with $SiO_2nano-particles$, the structure becomes stiffer and the critical buckling load and time increase.
