The effects of design parameters on the pellet transport rate in the ejector system which is widely used in the production processes of automotive parts were investigated experimentally. The primary nozzle geometry, the area ratio (R) of nozzle exit cross-sectional area to mixing chamber cross-sectional area and the distance (S) from primary nozzle exit to mixing chamber entrance were considered as the design parameters. The area ratios of the primary nozzle were varied from R=0.10 to R=0.25, 0.30, 0.40 and 0.55. The primary nozzle was positioned at the non-dimensional distance (S/D) of 1.30, 1.87, 2.44, 3.00 and 3.75, normalized using the mixing chamber diameter (D). The design parameters were determined to run with high efficiency by measuring the pellets transport rate. The geometry and the area ratio (R) of the primary nozzle had an effect on the pellet transport rate of the ejector system, and the area ratio of R=0.3 was carefully selected after taking the minimum fluidization velocity and transport rate of applied pellets into account. The higher pellet transport rate with the variation of the distance (S/D) was observed at S/D of 2.44.
Objective: This study aimed to assess the impact of the dilution ratio of Tris diluent, storage at 0℃, and long-distance transportation on the spermatozoa of Simmental cattle. It also validated the feasibility of the regional distribution of fresh semen. Methods: In experiment 1, semen was diluted at four dilution ratios (1:6, 1:9, 1:12, and 1:15) to determine the optimal dilution ratio of Tris diluent. In experiment 2, we assessed sperm viability, progressive motility (objectively assessed by computer-assisted sperm analyzer), and acrosome intactness in Tris dilutions kept at constant 0℃ for 1, 3, 6, 9, and 12 days. We compared them to Tianshan livestock dilutions (Commercial diluent). In experiment 3, semen was diluted using Tris diluent, and sperm quality was measured before and after long-distance transport. Artificial insemination of 177 Simmental heifers compared to 156 using Tianshan Livestock dilution. Results: The outcomes demonstrated that 1:9 was the ideal Tris diluent dilution ratio. The sperm viability, Progressive Motility, and acrosome integrity of both Tris and Tianshan dilutions preserved at 0℃ gradually decreased over time. sperm viability was above 50% for both dilutions on d 9, with a flat rate of decline. The decrease in acrosome integrity rate was faster for Tianshan livestock dilutions than for Tris dilutions when stored at 0℃ for 1 to 6 days. There was no significant difference (p>0.05) in sperm viability between semen preserved in Tris diluent after long-distance transportation and semen preserved in resting condition. The conception rates for Tris dilution and Tianshan livestock dilution were 49.15% and 46.15% respectively, with no significant difference (p>0.05). Conclusion: This shows that Tris diluent is a good long-term protectant. It has been observed that fresh semen can be successfully preserved for long-distance transport when stored under 0℃ conditions. Additionally, it is feasible to distribute semen regionally.
A third of primary energy is lost as a waste heat. To improve this inefficient use of energy, systems using chemical reaction have been suggested and studied. In this study, methanol decomposition/synthesis reaction as a chemical reaction was selected for long time heat storage and long distance heat transport system because of safe, cheap and gaseous product. The purpose of this study is to find the optimal conditions in the methanol decomposition and synthesis reactions for long distance heat transport. Several parameters such as reaction temperature, pressure, $H_2$/CO ratio, space velocity, catalyst particle size were tested to find the effects on the reaction rates for the methanol synthesis. And the reaction temperature, space velocity, catalyst particle size were tested to find the effects on the production concentration for the methanol decomposition.

This study suggests a general formula of non-cohesive sediment transport rates for waves and currents which is also valid for wave only or current only condition. On-offshore sediment transport rates with the second order Stokes wave in the shallow water are calculated as the pickup rate times the distance. The formula depicts reasonably that high waves move material offshore, and low waves move material onshore. Also the formula, as is the case the waves with long period tend to move material onshore, shows good results.

This study empirically analyzed air transport trade patterns using data for 30 years between Korea and its trading partners in order to identify specific factors that determine the size of Korea's air transport trade. Independent variables were GDP per capita, capital distance between countries, country area data and number of airports. In addition, it reflected whether it is a landlocked country and whether it has joined the OECD, APEC and ASEAN+3. According to the results of the analysis, it was found that the air cargo trade pattern in Korea is proportional to GDP per capita, and the scale increases as the distance is closer. In addition, the national area and the airport capital acted as a factor in increasing air transport trade. However, whether a country is a landlocked country did not show significant results in terms of trade, exports, and imports. The OECD, APEC, and ASEAN+3 variables were found to generally increase air transport trade.
The high incidence of deaths during transport for slaughter is associated with poor welfare and represents a considerable loss to the poultry industry. In the period from 2009 to 2014, all shipments of broiler chickens to poultry processing plants were monitored in the Czech Republic and the numbers of chickens transported and those dying as a result of their transport were recorded and analysed. Overall transport-related mortality of broiler chickens transported for slaughter in the Czech Republic was 0.37%. It ranged from 0.31% to 0.72%, the increase approximately corresponding to the increasing transport distance. Statistically highly significant (p<0.001) differences were found when comparing transport-related mortality rates in individual seasons of the year. The greatest mortality (0.55%) was associated with transports carried out in winter months whereas the lowest death losses (0.30%) were found in chickens transported for slaughter in summer months. Our study revealed greater transport-related mortality rates in broiler chickens transported for slaughter in the Czech Republic than expected when considering earlier studies. The most pronounced increases were found in transports for shorter distances and in winter months. However, an increase was found at all transport distances monitored except for distances exceeding 300 km and all seasons except for summer. Furthermore, a general increasing tendency in chicken losses during the monitored period was found. The particularly alarming finding is that the mortality of broiler chickens being transported to processing plants has been showing a long-term increasing tendency over the last two decades. Further research should focus on the identification of specific factors leading to such high and growing mortality rates and developing practical guidelines to improve the welfare of the birds in transit accordingly.

As environmental problems around the world become serious, Korea has also raised the greenhouse gas reduction in the building sector to 32.8% compared to 2018, and efforts to reduce carbon in buildings are expanding. Recently, research is being actively conducted to reduce carbon in the long term by expanding the scope of greenhouse gas indirect emissions (Scope3), and even within the domestic Green Standard for Energy and Environmental Design(G-SEED) by quantitatively evaluating the environmental impact of buildings during the entire life cycle. However, it is difficult to accurately evaluate the carbon emission of the transportation process by assuming the material transport distance in the evaluation of the Life Cycle Assessment(LCA). Therefore, in this study, the main building materials of the building were selected through case evaluation and the carbon emission of the material transport process was derived based on the actual transport distance, and this was compared and analyzed with the theoretical LCA results.

The new developed long distance transport technology uses the effect of electro-magnetic energy. But it's difficult to estimate the new technology. We monitored the velocity profile and pressure drops in pipes and estimated the technology quantitatively from data analysis. Laboratory test and field test gave us that the effects of electro-magnetic energy changed the flow properties and increased the velocity, especially at the slip layer. When transporting the dredged soil, electro-magnetic field generation reduces the frictional resistances at the slip layer, increases the velocity of flow. Furthermore, it would be possible to transport the dredged materials up to 15km long with one pump station.

Land reclamation, coastal construction, coastline extension and port construction, all of which involve dredging, are increasingly required to meet the growing economic and societal demands in the coastal zone. During the land reclamation, a portion of landfills are lost from the desired location due to a variety of causes, and therefore prediction of sediment transport is very important for economical and efficient land reclamation management. In this study, laboratory disposal tests were performed using an open channel, and suspended sediment transport was analyzed according to flow velocity and grain size. The relationships between the average and standard deviation of the deposition distance and the flow velocity were almost linear, and the relationships between the average and standard deviation of deposition distance and the grain size were found to have high non-linearity in the form of power law. The deposition distribution of sediments was demonstrated to have log-normal distributions regardless of the flow velocity. Based on the experimental results, modeling of suspended sediment transport was performed using deep neural network, one of deep learning techniques, and the deposition distribution was reproduced through log-normal distribution.

A project is being implemented to develop the long distance energy transport technology using the chemical reactions. This project can be classified into three main research categories covering heat recovery reaction, long distance energy transport, and heat generation reaction. In this study, the methanol is selected as a system material since it shows several unique superior characteristics as follows: gaseous state of reactant and product, large heat of reaction, high yields of reaction at relatively low temperature, and also steady and economical supply. Furthermore, it is anticipated that the outcomes of this study can be widely applied to the related industries. A feasibility study was carried out to evaluate the economics of this technology which study was based on the following case: 10,000 households, 15km distance energy transportation, utilization of waste heat from power plant.
