  • This study deals with the Transmission Error of gear tooth profile by modifying a Profile and lead of a surface of Tooth. First, we experimentally confirmed that the Transmission Error is a synthesis of the sliding Velocity between both gears. Since various types of Transmission errors appear in the experiments, we introduced definition of Transmission Error and The Optimism Design by modifying a surface parameters The test stand's performance is then evaluated through a series of multiple torque transmission error tests. Comparisons are made between data recorded before and after the test stand's redesign, and subsequently repeatability studies are performed to verify the veracity of the measured data. Finally, the experimental results are compared to the analytical predictions of two different gear analysis programs.

  • This paper deals with the energy transmission ratio of the elastic waves transmitting through a solid wall. Based on the displacement of the reflected and transmitted waves relative to the incident waves, the energy transmission ratio of the wave was obtained by multiplying the vibration velocity and stresses. Numerical calculation provided with the transmission ratio and refraction angle corresponding to the incidence angle, and it showed the mode conversion from the incident longitudinal wave to the transmitted transverse wave in particular incidence angle range. The paper established a procedure to find the incidence angle of the maximum energy transmission ratio and confirmed it by experiment.

  • Localized wind events, in the form of tornadoes and downbursts, are the main cause of the large number of failure incidents of electrical transmission line structures worldwide. In this study, a numerical model has been developed to study the behaviour of self-supported transmission lines under various tornado events. The tornado wind fields used were based on a full three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics analysis that was developed in an earlier study. A three-dimensional finite element model of an existing self-supported transmission line was developed. The tornado velocity wind fields were then used to predict the forces applied to the modelled transmission line system. A comprehensive parametric study was performed in order to assess the effects of the location of the tornado relative to the transmission line under F2 and F4 tornado wind fields. The study was used to identify critical tornado configurations which can be used when designing transmission line systems. The results were used to assess the sensitivity of the members' axial forces to changes in the location of the tornado relative to the transmission line. The results were then used to explain the behaviour of the transmission line when subjected to the identified critical tornado configurations.

  • In general, jerk phenomenon appeared because of gear changing, when a vehicle starts off or climbs an incline. Therefore, it makes ride quality worse. In this paper, an optimal pattern of automatic transmission was designed using fuzzy logic in order to improve ride quality. After del eloping fuzzy rule for shift pattern control of automatic transmission, dynamic characteristics (i.e. acceleration, velocity, distance and so on) were simulated using dynamic model of a car. To do this he powertrain model of a vehicle with automatic transmission including torque converter, gear box, and final gear drive - from engine to tire - is developed.

  • A bench test set-up is employed to simulate the friction characteristics of a paper-based friction material operating against a steel plate. Dry friction tests are run as well as tests with transmission fluids. Glazed friction material produces a negative coefficient of friction versus sliding velocity (f-v) curve for both dry friction and lubrication with transmission fluids. At low sliding speeds, the coefficient of friction when operating in transmission fluids for glazed friction materials is greater than that under dry friction. An appreciable negative f-v slope occurs at low sliding speeds for glazed friction materials when running with the transmission fluid. The friction material after running in produces a constant f-v curve under dry friction and a negative slope when lubricated with transmission fluid. At low sliding speeds, the coefficient of friction of the run-in friction material is lower than that of the glazed wet material. On the other hand, the run-in friction material has a larger friction coefficient than does the glazed friction material at higher sliding speeds.

  • In this study, the acceleration performance improvement was analyzed for a 2-speed transmission applied EV. An EV simulator was developed to analyze the EV acceleration performance. The EV simulator includes a load transfer model between the front and rear. Thus, the EV simulator can analyze the acceleration performance difference between the front-and rear-wheel drive EVs. From the simulation results, it is deduced that the acceleration performance can be improved by 7.96% for the front-wheel drive EV and 16.10% for the rear-wheel drive EV. The 2-speed transmission can improve the acceleration performance without decreasing its maximum velocity. Moreover, the 2-speed transmission can improve the acceleration performance of the rear wheel drive more than that of the front-wheel drive EV.

  • Electric railway system consist of rolling stock, track, signal and streetcar line system. ATP(Automatic Train Protection) system in railway signaling system is the important one grasping the position and velocity of a train. The wayside transmitter of ATP system is installed between rails. Recently, the research about increasing train speed has been developed in total departments of the railroad systems. The study on the information transmission between on-board transmitter and wayside transmitter is required for increasing the train speed in the ATP system. When the train speed is increased as to same transmissi on distance, the problem on information transmission occurs because the transmission time is decreased. In case that the transmission distance is extended, the transmission time is decreased with respect to the train speed. Therefore, we have to define the standard magnetic intensity as to the train speed in order to transmit correctly telegram. In this paper, the transmission distance for the telegram is suggested on the basis of the train speed. Also, the standard magnetic intensity from the wayside transmitter to on-board transmitter is proposed by using transmission distance regarding the train speed in the ERTMS/ETCS system by using Matlab program.

  • Power-transmission Nylon pinions against steel gears fur different pitch line velocities was studied with a power circulating gear test rig under unlubricated condition by SEM(Scanning Electron Microscope). The wear characteristics of Nylon pinions varied significantly with the pitch line velocity and applied load. Wear occurred most severely at the regions including pitch circle and root circle of Nylon pinions. It is confirmed that Nylon pinions are able to be used fer power-transmission under limited conditions.

  • In the reflection and transmission of a plane wave(TE) from a dielectric plane surface oscillating sinusoidally perpendicular to its surface, one could assume that the boundary moves with a uniform velocity equal to the instantaneous oscillating velocity. The reflected and the transmitted fields are obtained as the function of the incident angles, the dielecri'c permittivity, and the oscillating velocities according to the extended Lorentz transform.

  • In this paper, input-output velocity transmission characteristics of the Casing Oscillator, which is a constructional machine with 4 degree of freedom are examined. After the Jacobian matrix is decomposed into linear part and angular part, the linear and the angular velocity transmission characteristics are analyzed and visualized in easy way even in the case of 3 dimensional task space with 4 variables. Regarding the measure of dexterity of the Casing Oscillator, the kinematic isotropic index and the manipulability measures which are respectively represented the isotropy and the volume of the manipulability ellipsoid are combined. A performance of the Casing Oscillator is evaluated by the combined manipulability measure.
