  • This paper presents a new register transfer level synthesis method to overcome the disadvantages of the previous register transfer level synthesis systems. The previous register transfer level synthesis systems first translate from a hardware description language to sequential circuits inadequately. Secondly, the systems separate registers and combinational circuits and then optimize only combinational circuits. This paper describes their disadvantages and then proposes a new method to overcome their shortcomings. This paper also shows the effectiveness of the proposed method by using the proposed method at designing the controller of a surveillance system and the 8-bit signed multiplier.

  • Sign language is a natural, visually oriented and non-verbal communication channel between people that facilitates communication through facial/bodily expressions, postures and a set of gestures. It is basically used for communication with people who are deaf or hard of hearing. In order to understand such communication quickly and accurately, the design of a successful sign language translation system is considered in this paper. The proposed system includes object detection and classification stages. Firstly, Single Shot Multi Box Detection (SSD) architecture is utilized for hand detection, then a deep learning structure based on the Inception v3 plus Support Vector Machine (SVM) that combines feature extraction and classification stages is proposed to constructively translate the detected hand gestures. A sign language fingerspelling dataset is used for the design of the proposed model. The obtained results and comparative analysis demonstrate the efficiency of using the proposed hybrid structure in sign language translation.

  • Translation of tornadoes is an important feature in replicating the near-ground tornado flow field which has been simulated in previous studies based on Ward-type tornado simulators using relative motion of the ground plane. In this laboratory investigation, effects of translation on the near-ground tornado flow field were studied using the ISU Tornado Simulator that can physically translate over a ground plane. Two translation speeds, 0.15 m/s and 0.50 m/s, that scale up to those corresponding to slowly-moving tornadoes in the field were selected for this study. Compared with the flow field of a stationary tornado, the simulated tornado with translation had an influence on the spatial distribution and magnitude of the horizontal velocities, early reversal of the radial inflow, and expansion of the core radius. Maximum horizontal velocities were observed to occur behind the center of the translating tornado and on the right side of its mean path. An increase in translation speed, resulted in reduction of maximum horizontal velocities at all heights. Comparison of the results with previous studies that used relative motion of the ground plane for simulating translating tornadoes, showed that translation has similar effects on the flow field at smaller radial distances (~2 core radius), but different effects at larger radial distances (~4 core radius). Further, it showed that the effect of translation on velocity profiles is noticeable at and above an elevation of ~0.6 core radius, unlike those in studies based on the relative motion of the ground plane.

  • Hackers have obfuscated their malware to avoid being analyzed. Recently, obfuscation tools translate original codes into bytecodes to use virtualized-obfuscation, so that bytecodes are executed by virtual machines. In such cases, malware analysts fail to know about the malware before execution of the codes. We found that program slicing is one of promising program analysis techniques to solve this problem. The main concepts of program slice include slicing criteria given by analysts and sliced statements according to the slicing criteria. This paper proposes a deobfuscation method based on program slicing technique.

  • The use of arc tubes made of ceramic material further enhanced some of the metal halide lamp's properties. These properties translate into higher efficacy with better color rendering, stable color through lamp long life. Recently, due to an increase in the application of the ceramic metal-halide lamp, the study for the property etc. according to Ballast's driving scheme and the study for arc tube material, optimization of gas and so on are being proceeded to improve the property of the lamp. Especially, to control ceramic metal-halide lamp, the vigorous study and practical use with respect to Electronic Ballast, which has been improved in the disadvantages of the conventional Magnetic Ballast are made. In this paper, Electrical characteristics and gas insulation destroy time are analyzed by comparing magnetic ballast with electronic ballast.

  • Recently, there is a need for research concerning the technologies and precaution methods against electronic bomb assaults. There lays perplex constitution and much coupling phenomenon in this type of system, and thus requires much time and memory in order to translate the system with the existing translation methods. Applying the EMT (Electromagnetic Topology) would prove much more efficient. In this paper, EMT has been applied to the circuit-like micro system, previously employed in micro systems. Also, each section has been interpreted using the BLT (Baum, Liu, Tesche) equation using the EMT, then reconstructed, consequentially interpreting an entire system. In this paper, a simple circuit containing active and passive elements based on a CPW has been interpreted employing the BLT equation, and has been proven by experiment using the circuit simulation, a simulation officially recognized for its accuracy in interpreting small structures. The interpretation results have been presented by an S-parameter, and by comparing the interpretation results attained through the BLT equation and that from common simulation to that from experimentation, that the BLT equation turned out to be the most reliable interpretation method could be found.

  • A huge database resulted from whole genome sequencing has provided a possibility of new information that is likely to extent the scope and thus changes the way of approach for the functional assigning of putative open reading frames annotated by whole genome sequence analyses. These are mainly realized by ease, one-step identification of putative genes using genomics or proteomics tools. A major challenge remained in biotechnology may translate these informations into better ways to screen or select a gene as a representative sequence. Further attempts to mine the related whole genes or partial DNA fragment from whole genome treasure, and then the incorporation of these sequences into a representative template, will result in the use of putative genes that can be translated into functional proteins or allowed the generation of new lineages as a valuable pool. Such screens enable rapid biochemical analysis and easy isolation of the target activity, thereby accelerating the screening of novel enzymes from the expanded library with related sequences. Information-based PCR amplification of whole genes and reconstitution of functional DNA fragments will provide a platform for expanding the functional spaces of potential enzymes, especially when used mixed- or metagenome as gene resources.

  • The Imwon Sipyukji of this study was compiled by Seo Yugu (1764~1845), a famous agronomical scholar of the late eighteenth century. The contents of this book are divided into sixteen chapters related to all the important parts of rural home life ranging from daily routines to social life covering the agro-industry and the six skills of manners, music, archery, calligraphy, mathematics and horseback riding. Seomyongji, one of the sixteen chapters, covers all that is necessary for living a rural existence such as house-building, clothing adornments and transportation as well as how to make and use daily household items. The contents of the Boksik Jigu sub-section in the Sumyongji chapter consist of eight large units covering men's and women's clothing, bedding and pillows, sewing tools, belt and shoes accompanying the attire and storage for clothes. These eight are further subdivided into 65 items, each warranting a detailed explanation. My study will translate the original Chinese text of Boksik Jigu into Korean. This sub-section in the Seomyongji chapter will facilitate an investigation into the information contained therein on attire and accessories.

  • Since the freezer compartment and the refrigerating compartment are located side by side in a side-by-side refrigerator, the problems of the door height difference (DHD) and door flatness difference (DFD) have been constantly raised. Deformation of the cabinet of a built-in side-by-side refrigerator under food and thermal loads was analyzed by the finite element software ANSYS. The DHD and DFD, occurring due to the deformation of the cabinet, evaluated. From the results of the analysis of the cabinet, the 3D CAD software CATIA was used to geometrically translate and rotate the freezing and refrigerating compartment doors, in consideration of the displacement of the hinge fastening point. Then, the coordinates of two points on the upper corner of the doors were determined, and the DHD and DFD were obtained. It found that the thermal load, occurring under normal operation conditions, decreases the door height difference, but increases the door flatness difference. Values of the analyzed DHD and DFD appear smaller than the acceptance criteria used by the refrigerator manufacturer.
