  • This paper presents a new methodology for specification and control of the motion of an articulated rigid body for the purposes of animation by coordinate transformations. The approach is to formulate the problem as a coordinate transformation from the joint space of the body to a user-defined animation space which is chosen for convenience in constraining the motion. Constraints are applied to the resulting coordinate transformation equations. It is sufficiently general so that it can be applied to all common types of control problems, including closed loop as well as open loop mechanisms. We also provided a new approach to simulate a closed loop mechanism, which is using animation space transformation technique. The method is formulated in detail and is demonstrated by animating the motion of an inchworm.

  • In this paper, we proposed an algorithm for speech enhancement of speeches corrupted by colored noise. When there is no correlation between colored noise and speech signal, the colored noise turns into white noise through whitening transformation. This transformed signal has been applied to the generalized subspace approach for speech enhancement. The speech spectral distortion, produced by the whitening transformation as pre-processing, has been restored by using the inverse whitening transformation as post-processing of the proposed algorithm. The performance of the proposed algorithm for speech enhancement has been confirmed by computer simulation. The colored noises used in this experiment were car noise and multi-talker babble. It is confirmed that the proposed algorithm shows better performance from SNR and SSD viewpoint over the previous approach with the data from the AURORA and TIMIT data base.

  • It can be assumed that the ocean waves consist of many independent pure sinusoidal components which progress in arbitrary directions. To analyze irregular sea waves, both the spectrum method and the individual wave method have been used. The spectral approach is valid in the region where the water depth is deep and the linear property of velocity distribution is predominent, while the individual wave analysis method in the region where the water depth is shallow and the wave nonlinearity is significant. Therefore, to investigate the irregular wave transformation from the deep water to the shallow water region, it is necessary to relate the frequency spectrum which is estimated by the spectrum analysis method to the i oint probability distribution of wave height, period and direction affected by the boundary condition of the individual wave analysis method. It also becomes important to define the region where both methods can be applied. This study is a part of investigation to establish a systematic approach for analyzing the irregular wave transformation. The region where the spectral approach can be applied is discussed by earring out the experiments on the irregular wave transformation in the two-dimensional wave tank together with the numerical simulation. The applicability of the individual wave analysis method for predicting irregular wave transformation including wave shoaling and breaking and the relation between frequency spectrum and joint probability distribution of wave height and period are also investigated through the laboratory experiment and numerical simualtion.

  • Abstract This study was conducted to pursue the normalization of frequency distribution by making an approach to the coefficient of skewness to nearly zero through the Box-Cox transformation, to get probable flood flows can be calculated by means of the transformation equation which has been derivated by Box-Cox transformation in the annual maximum series of the applied watersheds. It has been concluded that Box-Cox transfromation is proved to be more efficient than logarithmic, square root and SMEMAX transformation which is based on the trigonometric solution of a right triangle whose three verteces repesent the smallest, median and largest observed values of a population in making the coefficient of skewness nearer to zero. Consequently it is shown that probable flood flows according to the return period based on Box-Cox transformation are closer to the observed data as compared to other methods including SMEMAX transformation and fitted probability distributions such as the three parameter lognormal and the type I extremal distribution for the applied watersheds.

  • It is well known that distribution of functions of eigen values and vectors of a certain matrix plays an important role in multivariate analysis. This paper deals with the transformation of a correlation-type random matrix to its eigen values and vectors. Properties of the transformation are also considered. The results obtained are applied to express the joint distribution of eigen values and vectors of the correlation matrix when sample is taken from a m-variate spherical distribution.

  • To recognize isomorphic transformation patterns, such as scale-change, translation and rotation transformed patterns, is an old difficult but interesting problem. Many researches have been done with a dominant approach of normalization by many eminent pioneers. However, there seems no a perfect system which can even recognize 90 .deg.-multiple rotation isomorphic transformation patterns for real needs. Here, as a new challenge, we propose a method of how to recognize 90 .deg.-multiple rotation isomorphic and symmetry isomorphic transformation patterns.

  • Digital service transformation study is a part of research in the field of digital transformation, which is devoted to exploring the transformations that occur in digital service products, which have been intensely explored in recent years to address digital disruption. Several concepts and definitions of digital service transformation have emerged as a result of an approach from the point of view of digital transformation and digital services concepts. This paper is organized to provide a foundational understanding of digital service transformation terminology. This paper uses the systematic literature review method to compile 52 qualified articles from previous studies. We conduct an analysis and synthesis of articles to answer research questions. The results of this study are a descriptive summary of research in the digital service transformation field, determining digital service transformation terminology and components, and also a proposed digital service transformation model to explain the position of transformation in digital service products in the overall transformation process. We construct this model using the findings of previously determined components synthesis.

  • In this paper we consider an approach to a formal linearization for time-variant nonlinear systems. A time-variant nonlinear sysetm is assumed to be described by a time-variant nonlinear differential equation. For this system, we introduce a coordinate transformation function which is composed of the Chebyshev polynomials. Using Chebyshev expansion to the state variable and Laguerre expansion to the time variable, the time-variant nonlinear sysetm is transformed into the time-variant linear one with respect to the above transformation function. As an application, we synthesize a time-variant nonlinear observer. Numerical experiments are included to demonstrate the validity of...

  • This paper proposes a transformation-based approach to design constraint-based analyses for Java at a coarser granularity. In this approach, we design a less or equally precise but more efficient version of an original analysis by transforming the original construction rules into new ones. As applications of this rule transformation, we provide two instances of analysis design by rule-transformation. The first one designs a sparse version of class analysis for Java and the second one deals with a sparse exception analysis for Java. Both are designed based on method-level, and the sparse exception analysis is shown to give the same information for every method as the original analysis.
