The object of the present study is to examine the effect of physical training during early growth of life on body weight gain and physical performance. Early weaned (2 weeks after birth) male mice were divided into control and training group-and experimental period was divided into growing period (from 1st week to 6th weeks after weaning) and adult period (from 7th weeks to 9th weeks after weaning). Physical training was. given on a small animal treadmill with a speed of 34.3m/min and $19^{\circ}C$ slope and both groups of body weight gain and maximal running time on the treadmill were determined. The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1. Body weight gain was lesser in training group than control group and the difference was. statistically significant at 1, 2.5, 5.7 weeks of training period. 2. Maximal running time of training group was found to be longer than that of control group at 6th (p<0.01), 8th (p<0.001) and 9th weeks. (p<0.01). From the above results, it may be concluded that if physical training is started in early growth of life, there might be an improvement of physical performance.

In this paper, we present the development of a new training system for equilibrium sense and postural control. This system consists of an unstable platform, a force plate, a computer, and training programs. The unstable platform provides 360 degrees of movement allowing for training in all directions. To evaluate the effects of the training system, we performed various experiments to train the ability of equilibrium sense and postural control of fifteen young healthy subjects. We measured the time a subject maintains his or her center of pressure on a target, the time a subject moves his or her center of pressure to a target, and the mean absolute deviation of the trace before and after the training. We analyzed these parameters obtained before and after the training using paried-sample T-test. The result shows that the subjects experienced distinctive enhancement in their ability of postural control through the training using our system.

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) developed Doc 9995 "Manual of Evidence-based Training," with the intention of providing guidance by establishing a new methodology for the development and conduct of a recurrent training and assessment program. The airline pilot training regulations were largely based on the evidence of hull losses from early generation jets, and in order to mitigate a risk, simply repeating an event in a training program was sufficient. At the time, studies concluded that it was time to change the paradigm of training and assessment program for pilots. One airline alone implemented Evidence-Based Training (EBT) program in their flight crew training and assessment program while another airline partially implemented the EBT program. In the regulatory framework of MOLIT, specific EBT regulations have not been established yet. Therefore, it is recommended to develop rules and standards that comply with ICAO SARPs as soon as possible. In this study we review the key steps in the implementation of the baseline EBT, approval process of baseline EBT program, and policy options regarding the implementation of EBT. It will provide guidance to operators, Approved Training Organizations (ATO), and stakeholders.

The effects of pentylenetetrazol (PTZ), a GABA receptor antagonist, were studied on passive avoidance learning and expression of heat shock protein 70 (hsp70), neuroglobin, and fatty acid binding protein-7 (fabp-7) genes. Zebrafish were trained to stay in a dark compartment to avoid a weight dropping in an acryl shuttle box with a central sliding door. In two training sessions of 2 h interval, each consisting of 3 trials, the crossing time was significantly increased from $43.2{\pm}14.4s$ to $149.3{\pm}38.5s$ in the first training session and remained $116.1{\pm}36.0s$ s in the first trial of the second training session in the control. In zebrafish treated with PTZ before the first training session, the crossing time was significantly increased neither in the first nor in the second training session. However, the increased crossing time was maintained in the second training session when 10 mM PTZ was treated three times for 10 min at 30 min intervals between the first and second training session. Quantitative real-time PCR showed that expression level of hsp70 mRNA increased two to eight fold over that of control in the brain at 0-24 h after termination of PTZ treatment. No change in expression of neuroglobin and fabp-7 mRNA was shown in PTZ-treated zebrafish. Our studies suggest that PTZ impairs learning ability in avoidance response and also modifies expression of genes related to the neuroprotection.
A new automatic classification method with high and stable accuracy for time-series image data is presented in this paper. This method is based on prior condition that a classified map of the target area already exists, or at least one of the time-series image data had been classified. The classified map is used as a reference map to specify training areas of classification categories. The new automatic classification method consists of five steps, i.e., extraction of training data using reference map, detection of changed pixels based upon the homogeneity of training data, clustering of changed pixels, reconstruction of training data, and classification as like maximum likelihood classifier. In order to evaluate the performance of this method qualitatively, four time-series Landsat TM image data were classified by using this method and a conventional method which needs a skilled operator. As a results, we could get classified maps with high reliability and fast throughput, without a skilled operator.
The purpose of this study was to serve as a basis for better student practice in dental hygiene and for determining educational direction for dental hygiene clinical education by examining what students and clinical-practice instructors thought on clinical practice and what factors gave an impact to clinical education. For attaining the purpose, an investigation was made of 449 third-grade students in the department of dental hygiene at seven educational institutes in Seoul and Kyoung-gi province. 246 instructors in charge of the clinical practice of the students at dental hospital or clinics were also examined. The findings of this study were as follows: 1. The instructors and students had different opinions on the number of trainees, training time, beginning of training, and assessment(p<0.05). The instructors thought that a trainee was appropriate for an instructor(59.8%), and that training time was not sufficient(30.8%). They considered it proper for students to start practice during the summer vacation of second year(21.5%), and responded that assessment should be done by the dentist, dental hygienist or professor in charge(44.7%). However, the students had an idea that an instructor should take charge of 2 or 3 trainees(47.4%), and that there was a lot of training time(55.7%). They considered it appropriate to start practice in the first term of second grade(l9A%), and thought the assessment should be made by the dentist and dental hygienist in charge(44.8%). 2. The students' satisfaction was clinical practice was affected(p<0.05) by their own selection of training institutes(28.1%), the absence of trainee from other colleges(29.4%), ample practice time(28.3%), implementation of student assessment once a day(45.3%), diverse practice opportunities (45.5%), and easy traffic to the training institute(32.9%). 3. The achivement of clinical practice was influenced by practice opportunities, the degree of faithful treatment performance, the frequency of student assessment, the number of trainees, traffic to training institutes, assistance in understanding theoretical knowledge of clinical practice, and assessment methods(p<0.05).

This study was conducted to examine the effects of instruction (explicit, implicit) and stimulus presentation time (300 ms, 500 ms) in ABM training. According to the Social Avoidance and Distress Scale (SADS) and the attention bias score (ABS), 60 undergraduate students were selected. All participants' SADS scores were above 82 and their ABS score was greater than 0. The training group was explicit-300 ms training group (n=10), explicit-500 ms training group (n=10), implicit-300 ms training group (n=10) and implicit-500 ms training group (n=10). In the implicit instruction group, only information about procedure was included. In the explicit instruction group, additional information about training manipulation (the probe always presented at the location of the preceding neutral stimuli) was provided. The control group were placebo-300 ms control group(n=10) and placebo-500 ms control group(n=10). After 8 sessions of training, the effect was only found in instruction conditions. The explicit training group showed significantly decreased SADS after training. ABS changed significantly in all three conditions but the treatment effect was most effective in the explicit instruction condition. No significant effect was found in the stimulus presentation time. These results suggest that explicit instruction might promote the effect of ABM training compared to implicit instruction.

A major problem of stopwatch time study is how to do for the accurate and consistent performance rating, which is one of the critical variables to determine the accuracy of work measurement and should be still dependent upon time observer's judgement. Therefore the time observer's ability for the performance rating is very important, and must be improved by correct training method and procedure. This paper developed a new benchmark and benchmark-observation method for the effective performance rating training of assembling and machining operations. The trainees' ability in the accuracy and consistency of the performance rating ,improved significantly after being trained by subject method. The percentage improvement in rating accuracy and consistency values was 34.7% and 49% respectively. In addition, benchmark-practice method for the performance rating training is not significant, so it is proofed that the skill of a certain operation is not important for the improvement of the rating ability.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the task-oriented training according to the application time with the change of motor and cognition function. Focal ischemic brain injury was produced in Sprague-Dawley rats (20 rats, $250{\pm}50$ g) through middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAo). Before MCAo induction, all rats were trained in treadmill training and Morris water maze training for 1 week. Then they were randomly divided into groups: Group I : MCAo induction ($n_1$=5), Grop II: the application for simple treadmill task training after. MCAo induction ($n_2$=5). Group III: the application for Morris water maze cognitive task training after MCAo induction ($n_3$=5). Group IV: the application for progressive treadmill task training and Morris water maze cognitive task training after MCAo induction ($n_4$=5). Modified limb placing tests (MLPTs) and motor tests (MTs) were performed to test motor function and then Morris water maze acquisition test (MWMAT) and Morris water maze retention test (MWMRT) were performed to test cognitive function. For MTs, there were significant interactions among the groups with the time (p<.001). Group IV showed the steeper increasing pattern than those in other Groups on the 7th and 14th day. For MLPTs, there were significant interactions among the groups with the time (p<.001). The scores in Group III. IV had showed the more decreasing pattern than those in Group I, II since the 7th day and 14th day. For MWMAT, there were significant interactions among the groups with the time (p<.001). Group II found the Quadrant circular platform showed the steeper decreasing pattern than that in Group I on the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th day. Group III. IV found the quadrant circular platform showed the slower decreasing pattern than that in Group I, II, For MWMRT, there were significant differences among the four groups (p<.001). The time to dwell on quadrant circular platform in Group IV on the 13th day was the longest compared with other groups. These results suggested that the combined task training was very effective to improve the motor and cognition function for the rats affected on their focal ischemic brain injury.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to study the effect of rectus abdominal muscle contraction by proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation trunk stabilization training using extremity simultaneous pattern (PNF trunk stabilization training) and traditional trunk stabilization training methods. Methods : A group of 24 adults male and female, healthy, with no previous medical history nor disability in neuromuscular system and musculoskeletal system was chosen as subjects, and was divided into a control group, a PNF trunk stabilization training group and a traditional trunk stabilization training group. Experiments were performed on the last two groups, 3 times a week for 6 weeks, totaling 18 times. Using a dynamometer, muscle strength and endurance time on trunk flexion were measured before and after each experiment, and surface electromyography in left and right rectus abdominis were measured. Results : following results were obtained; 1. As for the change in the maximal voluntary isometric contraction (MVIC), all subjects in the trunk stabilization training group showed significant difference from those in the control group. 2. As for surface electromyography measurement and the changes in root mean square at the time of trunk flexion, in the left rectus abdominis, PNF trunk stabilization training group showed significant difference from the control group, while in the right rectus abdominis, traditional trunk stabilization training group showed significant difference. Conclusion : To sum up the results, both trunk stabilization training groups showed improvement in the MVIC of abdominal muscle, motor unit action potential activity, but the difference between two trunk stabilization training groups was not significant. Therefore, while trunk stabilization training significantly improved abdominal muscle contraction, but the difference attributable to training methods was found to be insignificant.
