An improvement to the spectral representation algorithm for the simulation of wind velocity fields on large scale structures is proposed in this paper. The method proposed by Deodatis (1996) serves as the basis of the improved algorithm. Firstly, an interpolation approximation is introduced to simplify the computation of the lower triangular matrix with the Cholesky decomposition of the cross-spectral density (CSD) matrix, since each element of the triangular matrix varies continuously with the wind spectra frequency. Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) technique is used to further enhance the efficiency of computation. Secondly, as an alternative spectral representation, the vectors of the triangular matrix in the Deodatis formula are replaced using an appropriate number of eigenvectors with the spectral decomposition of the CSD matrix. Lastly, a turbulent wind velocity field through a vertical plane on a long-span bridge (span-wise) is simulated to illustrate the proposed schemes. It is noted that the proposed schemes require less computer memory and are more efficiently simulated than that obtained using the existing traditional method. Furthermore, the reliability of the interpolation approximation in the simulation of wind velocity field is confirmed.

We propose the query optimization technique using query classification in hybrid spatial DBMS. In our approach, user queries should to be classified into three types: memory query, disk query, and hybrid query. Specialty, In the hybrid query processing, the query predicate is divided by comparison between materialized view creating conditions and user query conditions. Then, the deductions of the classified queries' cost formula are used for the query optimization. The optimization is mainly done by the selection algorithm of the smallest cost data access path. Our approach improves the performance of hybrid spatial DBMS than traditional disk-based DBMS by $20%{\sim}50%$.

In this study, we proposed a new single-stage small power MH lamp electronic ballast and power-factor correction circuit with improved circuit by the current of passive power factor correction. Main circuit integrates traditional DC/DC and DC/AC circuits into one-stage DC/AC inverter. Moreover, we described the working principle and control strategy of the new circuit; it's soft switching principle; and resonant element parameter design formula. An experimental prototype of HID lamp electronic ballast with output power of 70 W was built to verify the feasibility of the analysis and design. The simulation and experimental results proved that the power factor of this circuit could reach 94%, with efficiency of 90%. The input current harmonics conform to IEC 61000-3-2 standards and its cost is low. These superior performances of the new circuit indicate certain practical values.

A Case of dizziness treated with Singi-hwan is reported. Singi-hwan is an herbal formula historically used for Jing(精) deficiency in Traditional Korean Medicine and dizziness is a common symptom presented in patients with Jing(精) deficiency. An elderly patient diagnosed with senile dizziness was treated using Singi-hwan for ten consecutive days in Dunsan Oriental Hospital, and has shown positive outcome.

This research has set up the fire fighting general index for Fire fighting of Crowded Wooden Building Cultural Asset which is composed of traditional wooden building instinct or complex. The results of this study are as follows. First, Fire fighting general index for crowded wooden building cultural asset, it is necessary to set fire fighting priority by considering fire risk and cultural asset characteristic and establish the system to cope with fire disaster in the most effective way by arranging facilities with restricted resource. Second, Fire risk is the index to draw fire and spread risk of cultural asset by applying index calculation processes such as fire load, burning velocity and ignition material spread characteristic to various aspects such as individual building and complex and combining their results. Cultural asset importance index consists of individual building evaluation, publicity security degree, area importance evaluation and historical landscape degree evaluation. Third, for each index combination process, weight of each index is drawn on the basis of AHP analysis result that is performed to the specialists of related fields. The formula to apply and combine it is prepared to apply the model to include meaning of each index and comparative importance degree.

Cho Heon Yeong's 'Tongsokanuihagwollon' is an introductory and essential book on Traditional Korean Medicine(TKM), and now we can nearly take it as classic. It contains almost whole contents of TKM : physiology, pathology, herbology, meridian & acupoint, internal medicine, diagnostics, formula science, etc. He wanted to help people get TKM services easily on their own through this book. In the first chapter following the introduction, he inserted Yin-Yang theory, and his lecture on Yin-Yang theory continues for 88 pages, taking 17% of the whole book. Yin-Yang theory chapter is composed of 14 parts which tells about concept, definition and meaning of Yin-Yang, change of Yin-Yang according to time, season, constitution, body region, meridian, herb, etc. Last part refers to disharmony & dysfunction of Yin-Yang in body, so he showed both theoretical and clinical view of Yin-Yang theory. He wrote some quotations from the book 'Complete Works of Jingyue(景岳全書)', 'Huangdi's Internal Classic(黃帝內徑)', 'Introduction to Medicine(醫學入門)', etc. He tried to explain easily about Yin-Yang theory with modern but rough language of science. He seemed to already know clearly that without modern science TKM cannot progress and will soon be overwhelmed by western medicine, and acted his own way to spread spirit of TKM in the period of rapid change & conflict between two civilizations.

The use of spreadsheet packages for solving noise control problems has been cited by several authors, eg Saha[1] and Thornton[2]. The effectiveness of using spreadsheet packages compared with the traditional computer programs written in high level languages was demonstrated when applied to relatively simple problems, such as the selection of hearing protectors or the prediction of noise equation which includes logarithmic additions at most represents the physics of the problem. The simplicity of the governing equation together with the requirement to handle a vast amount of data are considered to be the major reasons for noise control engineers to use spreadsheet packages. Although shipboard noise prediction seems to be very complicated, the calculation procedure itself is, in essence, identical especially true for prediction methods based on empirical formulae[3,4], ie the procedure that consists of the three basic elements, ie source, path and receiver. This paper discusses the application of spreadsheet package LOTUS 1-2-3 to shipboard noise prediction problems. A utility program of the package is written using macro functions and is shown to be especially useful for noise control engineers who are unfamiliar with spreadsheet packages. In addition, a new type of empirical formula, to estimate structureborne noise transmission loss, is proposed.

Generally, Gwakhyangjeonggi-san has been used for treatment of diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome. In this study, an ultra-performance liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization-mass spectrometer method was established for the simultaneous quantification of marker compounds 1-20 in Gwakhyangjeonggi-san water extract. All analytes were separated by gradient elution using two mobile phases on a UPLC BEH $C_{18}$ ($100{\times}2.1mm$, $1.7{\mu}m$) column and maintained at $45^{\circ}C$. The injection volume was $2.0{\mu}L$ and the flow rate was 0.3 mL/min with detection at mass spectrometer. Regression equations of the compounds 1-20 were acquired with $r^2$ values ${\geq}0.9950$. The values of limit of detection and quantification of all analytes were 0.01-2.79 ng/mL and 0.03-8.37 ng/mL, respectively. The amounts of the compounds 1-20 in Gwakhyangjeonggi-san water extract were not detected $-3,236.67{\mu}g/g$. The established LC-MS/MS methods will be valuable to improve quality control of traditional herbal formula, Gwakhyangjeonggi-san.

As social interest in acne treatment has grown, various external preparations have been developed and studied. So, we investigated the external prescription which can treat acne in medical classics, then reviewed and divided it by dynasty. The data for analysis of Herbal formula was taken from 'medicine Dictionary of traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions(中醫方劑大辭典)'. 31 external medicines were searched, 3 were before song(宋) dynasty, 11 were Song(宋) dynasty, 11 were Yuan(元) dynasty, 7 were Ming(明) dynasty and 7 were Qing(淸) dynasty. The recipe and usage were only making them pill(丸) and paste(膏) using grinded medicinal herbs, then rubbing to face. As the age developed, unique manufacturing process(i.e fermentation method), and usage(i.e time-based usage, herbal medicine extracts for wash) were proposed. The external application with oriental medicine for acne used with Angelicae Gahuricae Radix(n=12), Bletillae Rhizoma(n=8), Syzygii Flos, Saposhnikoviae Radix(n=7) and so on. In particular, Bletillae Rhizoma was searched with high frequency in this study, but it was not included or studied in patent composition. The results of this study will provide basic data for future experiments and clinical studies.

Objectives & Methods : In order to evaluate the in vivo synergic effect of Mawhangyounpye-tang which was a traditional poly-herbal formula has been used in the treatment of respiratory diseases in Korea, with quinolone antibiotic, ciprofloxacin (CPFX), the viable bacterial number and histopathological changes were monitored after experimental respiratory infection with Klebsiella peumoniae NCTC 9632. Results : The obtained results were as follows : 1. In CPFX group, the viable bacterial numbers were significantly decreased compared to that of control group and these were more dramatically decreased compared to that of single treatment with CPFX, respectively in concomitant treated groups with Mawhangyounpye-tang. 2. In control group, severe infiltration of inflammatory cells, hemorrhage and hypertrophy of alveolar linings were demonstrated at microscopical levels. However, these abnormal histopathological changes were significantly decreased compared to that of control group in CPFX group, and these were more dramatically decreased compared to that of single treatment with CPFX, respectively in concomitant treated groups with Mawhangyounpye-tang. 3. In CPFX group, the LSA (luminal surface of alveoli %) were significantly increased compared to that of control group and these were more dramatically decreased compared to that of single treatment with CPFX, respectively in concomitant treated groups with Mawhangyounpye-tang. Conclusions : It is considered that in vivo antibacterial activity of CPFX was dramatically increased by concomitant use of Mawhangyounpye-tang against Kebsiella pneumoniae NCTC 9632 infection of respiratory tract.
