This paper explores the inlaying technique of Geum-Cheol Kim, a joiner has made the traditional Korean furniture mostly popular in Tong Yeong in Gyeongnam province in Korea. He has adopted the technique in creating his furniture since he started learning and working the furniture making at sixteen years old. So he is only the cabinet maker with the technique in Tong Yeong GN. Samhojang, Seongtaenoemun, Gwuinoemun, and so on are the techniques inlaid in the furniture like Jang, Nong, Beoseonjang, Mungap and so on. The Tong-yeong techniques are even more difficult and take longer time than other ordinary inlays to be created, but they are very secured and last longer. And the techniques are very beautiful but today they are not well-known and used in Korea. Hence, the succession and preservation of the techniques are needed from the joiner to younger generation. Futhermore, the development on the easier and shorter process to create them is needed to be popular throughout Korea in order to be useful for contemporary furniture.

This study explored contemporary furniture theory and practice in Postmodernism mentioned as one of a kind furniture based on ideas from the tradition since Modernism. Qualitative conceptual analysis as the principal methodology was used to explore the postmodern furniture adopting or reflecting ornament from the tradition presented as postmodern furniture designers' point of view differently and variously. Thus, the examples about one of a kind or one-off furniture were dealt with Postmodern ideas appeared in the doubt over Modernism, Post-Modern furniture ideas from the traditional and Modern architecture, ornamental ism, Postmodern theorists, Postmodern furniture and the criteria. As a result, although one of a kind furniture design appealed newly from and based on the ornament of the tradition has been identified as new design like one of a kind furniture which shows lack of function, the piece with the meaningful ornament makes people happier in their daily life. Hence, one of a kind furniture, a work of art, has been required as striking a balance both function or comfort and aesthetics or beauty which makes the people more enjoyable.

Wooden artifacts are generally manufactured by lacal materials with cultural characteristics. Bamboo crafts province In recent years, production decreased due to products using resin and new materials, and in particularm the traditional bamboo craftsmanship is in a situation of extinction. Among the techniques of bamboo craftsmanship, Lamtae lacquer technique which lacquers on bamboo crafts made of piece bamboo and weaving pattern is applied to wooden craft, and the purpose of this study was to develop the products that can be utilzed in the modern residential space, and to make the skill of wood crafts using bamboo be developed and spread the prototype was made of traditional bamboo acts and crafts, furniture made of piece bamboo and weaving pattern, and wooden artifacts such as stationary goods and lighting.

The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of Arne Jacobsen's chair design. He was one of the few creators who inscribed his name in both the history of architecture and furniture design. His works reflected a form of "Regional Modernism" in which traditional techniques collide with functionalist beliefs. This grafting of ideas generated a person aesthetics which he used to establish a suitability of scale, detail an program for each design. In the material aspect, he had enjoyed using the plasticity of the plywood, polyurethane, tubular steel and in the formative aspect, organic form is combined with minimalization of material and simplicity. To sum up what is unique about Arne Jacobsen's chair design, it is that it is distinguished by a clear understanding and expression of beauty from nature, a complete understanding of the material used and the melding of traditional and functional techniques to generate organic form.anic form.

The Joseon dynasty had close communication with the Ming and Qing dynasties on multiple levels. In the development process of furniture modeling design, the same cultural source and mutual communication, and the same factor was reflected in each other's furniture modeling. In this paper, "Furniture in the later Joseon Period" and "Ming style furniture" are taken as the research noumenon, table furniture as the specific research object, and from the perspective of "similarity" in the history of exchanges between the two countries, the overall modeling design and the local modeling design are selected to discuss the modeling design of traditional furniture in the two countries. In the analysis of specific research cases, there are similar genes in the overall modeling design of table furniture such as soban, warp bed and inkstone bed in the later Joseon Dynasty and table furniture such as kang, square table, wine table and incense table in the Ming and qing dynasties. In terms of local modeling, the appearance of similar desktop, cloud horn, leg, foot and other modeling designs better confirms the similarity in modeling design between the two countries. In this paper for "type of air hole" formative source speculated that traditional furniture is for Korean peninsula a tentative study of cultural studies. Considering the fact that the exchanges between Korea and China are expanding in many aspects, exploring the similarities in the traditional furniture will help to analyze the cultural exchanges between the two countries and promote the exchanges.

In the process of changing from modern society to contemporary society, innovation of various fields is considered as important with rapid social change and one of the consequences of this changing movement is the innovation of living space. In this paper, based on this motive, we will study a modular shelf that can create a private space, and serve function like role of partition that delimits space in the one-room. Modular shelves can provide openness, closeness, and autonomy to individual spaces in a one-room space without space divisions. In a small one-room for residential purpose, it is able to function effectively to show the atmosphere of personal space and display small items reflecting personal taste in addition to the function of storing books and items. In addition, a modular shelves considering disassembly and movement are proposed in order to take advantage of one-room that can make different space configurations as needed. It is aim to suggest a basic modular shelves structure that used traditional Chinese wood-joints during which techniques was sturdy while reducing the use of timber. Futhermore, the purpose of this study is to study the design of shelf furniture that can add individuality.

This study explores PyeongSang, a piece of traditional Korean furniture, in order to make people know the details about what the piece is in the first paper. And based on the paper, PyeongSang will be developed as moulded multi-useful beds and sofas adapting the joint and ornament from the structure and pattern of the piece in the next paper. As the result, it appeared as two styles such as bed types mentioned as SalPyeongSang and ttulmaru in Korean. The pieces have been used from the three Kingdoms period in Korean history. The styles appeared as the structure of four parts with the lower fences called as nangan, the seats jointed by thin wood pieces, the wind hole, and the legs of foot types. The parts were beautifully carved with the ornament such as lattice patterns like geokjamun and manjamun, flower patterns like dangchomun, elephant eyes patterns like ansangmun from the Korean tradition. And the legs showed various shapes such as supports transformed from horse foots, tiger legs and bamboo, and board types carved with elephant eyes and geometric patterns. Hence, in the next paper based on this paper, PyeongSang will be developed as moulded multi-useful beds and sofas adapting the joints and ornaments from the structure and patterns of the piece.

Since Cubists represented a way of expressing image moving away from traditional illusion effect, new realities represented by collage and assemblage. Furthermore, Marcel Duchamp, a French Dadaist, suggested the concept of ready-made that everyday objects exhibited in an odd way in a gallery. These early fine art cases highly influenced to furniture design in the second half of the twentieth century. The use of objects in contemporary furniture is closely related to the emergence of Pop Art in the late 1950s and that of Postmodernism. After the 1970s the use of found objects were frequently utilized in furniture design of all over the countries. As an ecological issue became a new consideration to furniture designers, found objects also gave a chance to use recycled materials. Even in studio furniture area which is considered wood as a major material at the early stage, many studio furniture designers began to adapt found objects in their designs as a new source of Inspiration after the 1970s. This study explored various examples of found objects in furniture design and examined the meaning of the use in different designers and regions.
