Torsional oscillations of the drivetrain in electric vehicles are generated under rapid driving conditions. These lead to an uncomfortable jerking of the vehicle and an increased stress of the mechanical components. To suppress torsional oscillations, the low pass and notch filters between the torque command from the acceleration pedal and electric motor input torque are suggested. The filter parameters are optimized based on Taguchi method with $L_{18}(3^5)$ orthogonal array. The signal to noise (S/N) ratio mainly depends on slew rate of motor input torque, damping ratio and natural frequency of notch filter. With the proposed suppression control scheme, the S/N ratio is shown to be increased by 4.7dB and the torque overshoot of the drive shaft is reduced to 30%.

In-wheel motor system gets the driving force from direct-driven motor in the wheel of electric vehicle. It is known as good system for vehicles, from an efficiency, packaging, handling and safety. This paper describes motor and inverter technologies, system configuration and control algorithms for in-wheel type electric vehicle. It is necessary to control on an interrelation perspective because this system drives two motors at same time. In system design, IPMSM(Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) including a wide operating range and high-speed rpm is used and flux weakening control is performed in constant power range. Under the torque command from the host controller, auto control box, inverter's output torque is calculated with using torque estimation technique and applied to actual vehicle driving system. It is verified that the configuration and the algorithm are suitable for the in-wheel motor system.

This paper presents the effects of rotor time constant variation and the on-line tuning algorithm of the rotor time constant. If the value of the rotor time constant is set incorrectly, the IFOC (Indirect Field Oriented Control)scheme exhibits deteriorated performance according to the wrong slip command. These variation effects of the rotor time constant are caused by the slip calculator where it is known that the rotor time constant play an important role in the aligned rotor flux. Using the two torque angles (stationary torque angle, rotating torque angle), the variation of the rotor time constant is identified, and the rotor time constant of the controller is tuned to the proper value of the machine. As the result, with the proposed algorithm, the dynamics of the deteriorated IFOC system, where the rotor time constant is varied, is improved. For the purpose of the validity of this proposed algorithm, the computer simulations and the experiments have been performed and the explanation of the results is presented. Sensorless PMSM is much studied for the industrial applications and home appliances because, a mechanical sensor reduces reliability and increases cost. Two types of instantaneous torque controls are basically used for high performance variable-speed a.c. drive : vector control and direct torque control. This paper investigates speed sensorless control of PMSM using direct torque control. The switching of inverter is determined from SVPWM realizing the command voltage which is obtained by flux error and measured current without d-q transformation. The rotor speed is estimated through adaptive observer with feedback loop. The simulation and experimental results indicate good performances.

The generated torque of a switched reluctance(SR) motor is highly nonlinear, which makes it difficult to determine the reference current commands for minimum torque ripples. In this paper, we present a computationally simple and efficient method to minimize torque ripples of SR motors based on iterative learning control. The reference current command of each phase minimizing torque ripples is identified in 2-dimensional look-up table form. Our learning control algorithm does not require the torque model, so our method is not affected by model errors and hence is very accurate. In order to justify our work, we present some computer simulation results.

This paper presents an implementation of high-dynamic performance control system of Reluctance Synchronous Motor (RSM) drives for an industrial servo system with direct torque control (DTC). The problems of DTC for high-dynamic performance and maximum efficiency RSM drives are the nonlinear variable flux and inductance due to a saturated stator linkage flux and nonlinear inductance curve with various load currents. The accurate estimation of the stator flux and torque are obtained using stator flux observer of which a saturated inductance Ld and Lq can be compensated by using the adapted neural network from measuring the modulus and angle of the stator current. To obtain fast torque response and maximum torque/current with varying load current, the reference command flux is ensured by imposing Ids=Iqs. This control strategy is proposed to fast response and optimal efficiency for RSM drive. In order to prove rightness of the suggested control algorithm, we have some actual experimental system using 6000 pulse/rev encoder at ${\pm}10$ and ${\pm}1500rpm$. The developed digitally high-performance control system are shown some good response characteristics of control results and high performance features using 1.0kW RSM of which has 2.57 Ld/Lq salient ratio.
In this paper, a lateral vehicle control using the concept of control configured vehicle (CCV) is presented. The control objectives for the lateral dynamics of a vehicle include the ability to follow a chosen variable without significant motion change in other specified variables. The analysis techniques for decoupling of the aircraft motions are utilized to develop vehicle lateral control with advanced mode. Vehicle lateral dynamic is determined to have the steering input and control torque input. The additional vehicle modes are also defined to using CCV concept. We use right eigenstructure assignment techniques and command generator tracker to design a control law for an lateral vehicle dynamics. The desired eigenvectors are chosen to achieve the desired decoupling (i.e., lateral direction speed and yaw rate). The command generator tracker is used to ensure steady-state tracking of the driver's command. Finally, the developed design is utilized by using the lateral vehicle dynamic with four wheel.

This paper proposes the efficiency optimization control of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor(IPMSM) drive using series connected-fuzzy neural network PI(SC-FNPI) controller. The PI controller is generally used to control IPMSM drive in industrial field. However, the PI controller has problem which is falling control performance about parameter variation such as command speed, load torque and inertia due to fixed gain of PI controller. Therefore, to improve performance of PI controller, this paper proposes SC-FNPI controller adjusted input of PI controller by FNN controller according to operating conditions. Also, this paper proposes efficiency optimization control which is improving efficiency with minimize loss. The SC-FNPI controller proposed in this paper is compared control performance with conventional FNN and PI controller about command speed, load torque and inertia variation. And the efficiency optimization control is compared with $i_d=0$ control about loss and efficiency. The SC-FNPI controller proposed in this paper shows more excellent control performance for rising time, overshoot and steady-state error. Also efficiency optimization control is increased efficiency by reducing loss.
This paper presents a method to reduce commutation torque ripples occurred during commutation in brushless do motor drives using a single DC-link current sensor. In brushless dc motor drives with a single dc current sensor instead of 3-phase line current sensors, it is noted that dc-link current sensor cannot give any information corresponding to the motor currents during line current commutation intervals. A new technique to resolve such a problem is dealt with based on a deadbeat current control in which motor armature voltage command is computed from a dc-link current reference, an actual current and counter emf voltage. The simulation results show that the proposed method reduces the torque ripple significantly.
