  • In this paper, we propose a novel approach which models multilingual story link detection by adapting the features such as timelines and multilingual spaces as weighting components to give distinctive weights to terms related to events. On timelines term significance is calculated by comparing term distribution of the documents on that day with that on the total document collection reported, and used to represent the document vectors on that day. Since two languages can provide more information than one language, term significance is measured on each language space and used to refer the other language space as a bridge on multilingual spaces. Evaluating the method on Korean and Japanese news articles, our method achieved $14.3{\%}\;and\;16.7{\%}$ improvement for mono- and multi-lingual story pairs, and for multilingual story pairs, respectively. By measuring the space density, the proposed weighting components are verified with a high density of the intra-event stories and a low density of the inter-events stories. This result indicates that the proposed method is helpful for multilingual story link detection.

  • Many researches have been done in insurance fraud as the amount and frequency of insurance fraud have been increasing continuously. In particular, the development of insurance fraud detection system using large database management techniques including data mining or link analysis based on visual method have been the main research topic in insurance fraud. However, this kinds of detection system were very ineffective to find unintentional insurance fraud happened by accident even though it was so good to find intentional and organized crime insurance fraud. Therefore, this research suggests insurance fraud as an ethical decision making and applies TPB(Theory of Planned Behavior) for the finding of reasons and prevention strategies of unintentional insurance fraud happened by accident. The results of research show that TPB is very appropriate model to explain the behavior of insurance fraud and that insurance agents force to do insurance fraud as affecting perceived behavior control. Therefore, education and pubic relations for insurance fraud are very effective for preventing insurance fraud and developing insurance service industry.

  • Recently, multiuser detection has been investigated as an interesting topic because of its capability of eliminating multiuser interference and resistance to the near-far problem. In this paper, we consider a quasi maximum likelihood detector in the reverse link system which used antenna arrays in quasi-synchronous channels. It is also shown that the proposed system can suppress the interuser interference without using the side information of the other users. It is also shown that the performance of the proposed system is superior to that of the conventional matched filter system.
