시선추적 분석을 위한 통합 해석 모델의 개발 - 사용자 인터페이스 디자인을 위한 휴리스틱 가이드라인의 도출을 중심으로 - (Development of Integrated Analysis Model for Eyegaze Analysis - With Emphasis on the Generation of Heuristic Guidelines for User Interface Design -)

  • 본 연구는 사용자의 시지각 프로세스에 대한 분석을 통해 시선추적 과정을 이해하고, 인간의 정보처리 모델을 기반으로 휴리스틱 가이드라인을 도출하여, 실무에서 적용할 수 있는 인터페이스 디자인의 일반적인 원리를 발견하는 것에 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 인간의 시각 특성을 이용한 시선추적 시스템을 실험에 적용하여, 상향처리와 하향처리의 시지각 프로세스를 파악하고 인간의 정보처리 모델을 근거로 디자인을 위한 적용점을 분석하였다. 사례 연구로 인터랙티브 미디어를 실험하여 시선의 동선 및 고정점을 통해 사용자의 관심을 확인하고, 사용자의 인지과정을 이해하기 위한 단서를 효과적으로 얻을 수 있었다 그리고, 인간 행위의 각 단계와 정보처리 모델을 기반으로 다섯 가지의 휴리스틱 가이드라인을 도출하였으며, 이를 통하여 디자인 실무에서 직접 적용할 수 있는 인터페이스 디자인의 일반적인 원칙을 발견할 수 있었다.

  • Manufacturing bulk nanostructured materials with least grain growth from initial powders is challenging because of the bottle neck of bottom-up methods using the conventional powder metallurgy of compaction and sintering. In this study, bottom-up type powder metallurgy processing and top-down type SPD (Severe Plastic Deformation) approaches were combined in order to achieve both real density and grain refinement of metallic powders. ECAP (Equal Channel Angular Pressing), one of the most promising processes in SPD, was used for the powder consolidation method. For understanding the ECAP process, investigating the powder density as well as internal stress, strain distribution is crucial. We investigated the consolidation and plastic deformation of the metallic powders during ECAP using the finite element simulations. Almost independent behavior of powder densification in the entry channel and shear deformation in the main deformation zone was found by the finite element method. Effects of processing parameters on densification and density distributions were investigated.

주민주도적 마을만들기의 동태적 측면에 관한 연구 (A Study of Dynamic Characteristics in the Process of Community Building Projects in Korea)

  • Recently, Community Rebuilding Projects (hereinafter CRPs) in Korea have been driven and motivated by community inhabitants by themselves, and highlighted as an alternative approach to overcome the limitation revealed normally in top-down projects of community vitalization by the Government. The CRPs encourage community-lead development because it happens to integrate multiple stakeholders and to help inhabitants to participate in the process of the CRPs by accumulating and enlarging social capital and network among inhabitants, and the social gain consequently raises the efficiency of public investment in revitalizing communities. In this study, the series of Causal Loop Diagrams (CLDs) is to be elaborated and the System-Thinking (ST) approach is to be presented to understand the dynamic characteristics residing in the above development process of rebuilding communities. The ST approach refers to the CLDs analyzing 19 remarkable Korean CRP cases, and leads to a conclusion including some of policy instruments to support the bottom-up CRPs in Korea. This study contributes a theoretical framework to understand the dynamic relation between social capital and community revitalization as well as empirical suggestions to respond to the issues of the CRPs in Korean local governments.

In-Situ Heat Cooling using Thick Graphene and Temperature Monitoring with Single Mask Process

  • In this paper, in-situ heat cooling with temperature monitoring is reported to solve thermal issues in electric vehicle (EV) batteries. The device consists of a thick graphene cooler on top of the substrate and a platinum-based resistive temperature sensor with an embedded heater above the graphene. The graphene layer is synthesized by using chemical vapor deposition directly on the Ni layer above the Si substrate. The proposed thick graphene heat cooler does not use transfer technology, which involves many process steps and does not provide a high yield. This method also reduces the mechanical damage of the graphene and uses only one photomask. Using this structure, temperature detection and cooling are conducted simultaneously using one device. The temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of a $1{\times}1mm^2$ temperature sensor on 1-$\grave{i}m$-thick graphene is $1.573{\times}10^3ppm/^{\circ}C$. The heat source cools down $7.3^{\circ}C$ from $54.4^{\circ}C$ to $47.1^{\circ}C$.

  • Graphene has attracted much attention for future nanoelectronics due to its superior electrical properties. Owing to its extremely high carrier mobility and controllable carrier density, graphene is a promising material for practical applications, particularly as a channel layer of high-speed FET. Furthermore, the planar form of graphene is compatible with the conventional top-down CMOS fabrication processes and large-scale synthesis by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process is also feasible. Despite these promising characteristics of graphene, much work must still be done in order to successfully develop graphene FET. One of the key issues is the process technique for gate dielectric formation because the channel mobility of graphene FET is drastically affected by the gate dielectric interface quality. Formation of high quality gate dielectric on graphene is still a challenging. Dirac voltage, the charge neutral point of the device, also strongly depends on gate dielectrics. Another performance killer in graphene FET is source/drain contact resistance, as the contact resistant between metal and graphene S/D is usually one order of magnitude higher than that between metal and silicon S/D. In this presentation, the key issues on graphene-based FET, including organic-inorganic hybrid gate dielectric formation, controlling of Dirac voltage, reduction of source/drain contact resistance, device structure optimization, graphene gate electrode for improvement of gate dielectric reliability, and CVD graphene transfer process issues are addressed.

  • In this study, a newly modified soil nailing technology named as the pretension soil nailing system, is developed to reduce both facing displacements and ground surface settlements in top-down excavation process as well as to increase the global stability. Up to now, the pretension soil nailing system, has been investigated mainly focusing on an establishment of the design procedure. In the present study, laboratory model tests are carried out to investigate the failure mechanism and behavior characteristics of the pretension soil-nailed wall. Various results of model tests are also analyzed to provide a fundamental basis for the efficient design.

건설CALS에서 고속도로인허가 시스템 구현 사례 (A Case Study on Implementing Highway Approval/Permission System in Construction CALS)

  • This paper is to analyze business activities of approval/permission (A/P) and to describe its problems. To conduct the A/P business activities currently, there are many problems such as complex business process and different business policies among the each organization. In order to solve the problems, this paper suggests the A/P system of highway construction CALS (Commerce at Light Speed). CALS, a top down vision of complete computing integration, promises to support electronic data exchange. The A/P system is designed to classified documents based on CALS standard and store them to database. The data register to the A/P system by the Internet, and each construction company can use the A/P system by Internet also. Benefits of the A/P system is reduction in junk documents for approval/permission actives, improvement in conduct and services life cycle support.

  • This study presents the application of multi-level substructuring for the effective nonlinear analysis of coupled wall structures. Also, the transition elements with 8 or 12 d. o. f, 5-node plane stress elements and concrete nonlinear model are considered as the basic finite elements of substructuring. In particular, the concept of localized nonlinearity is considered for the probable nonlinear zones of the structure, and the effective bottom-up and top-down process are presented through connectivity trees. The nonlinear analysis based on localized nonlinearity and multi-level substructuring, compared with the complete nonlinear analysis of the structure, gives the greater saving effects in computational efforts and cost.

A Comparative Study of City Brand Management -focused on developing City Brand Identity

  • The aim of this study is to analyze the unique framework of Hong Kong brand and compare it to Seoul through examining the process of developing city brand visual identity, which is top-down. As Asian cities, the processes of developing their city identity system to be strong city brands have taken outstandingly different steps between two cities. Hong Kong has the strongest tourism attributes modernity, stability, attractiveness of tourism attributes. Hong Kong has the most competitive power. Korea is the least one. Hong Kong has made it as a good example of a city brand and proved it through tourism statistics which are one of visible branding results. Apparently, it gives us constructive suggestions to consider its steps for developing city brand identity.

QFD를 이용한 미래 공격헬기의 핵심기능 도출 (Derivation of Critical Functions of the Future Attack Helicopter Using QFD)

  • This work describes an approach that contributes to derive from mission to critical functions of the attack helicopter under future battle space environment. An existing mission of the attack helicopter is limited to the only shooter oriented functions. In the future environment, mission and its functions of the helicopter might be much expanded. The functions should be derived by the top down approach based on systems engineering approach. In this point of view, this work describes network based future battle environment. From this environment, the missions of the attack helicopter are identified and optimized functions are derived through sequential procedures like from missions to tasks, tasks to activities, and activities to functions. The selected activities are obtained from the tasks using QFD. The weighting scores of the QFD are calculated by the AHP computational procedure. Finally the critical functions are presented through the similar procedure.
