A Study on the Development of a MOOC Design Model

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a MOOC design model that would improve the current practice of MOOC development in Korea by specifying easy-to-use course development procedures and guiding strategies. Following Richey and Klein (2007)'s conceptual model development procedure, the first step was to perform critical review of relevant literature and observe typical MOOC development processes. As a result, the initial model was developed. The second step was to conduct the expert review with five educational technology and MOOC researchers to secure the internal validity of the model. Based on the experts' suggestions, the model was revised and once again reviewed by the same experts. This process resulted in the development of the 2nd version of model. The third step was to carry out external validation research in order to test the effectiveness, efficiency, and usability of the model. A basic model may be confirmed or corrected based on examination of its results. Consequently, the model was elaborated as the final model. In the final model, 6 procedural phases and 9 specific steps were included. The six procedural phases are: Analysis (1st Iteration), Design, Development (Course Development), Implementation, Evaluation, and Analysis (2nd Iteration), a slight variation of ADDIE model. The specific steps include: 1) Goal Setting, 2) Environment Analysis, 3) Content Design, 4) Style Design, 5) Course Development, 6) Implementation Plan, 7) Course Implementation, 8) Summative Evaluation, and 9) Need Reflection. The study concluded with suggestions for further research and application of the MOOC design model.

조경공사의 설계와 시공일치를 위한 최적 모형 (An Optimization Model for Concurring Landscape Detailed Design with Final Products)

  • The purpose of this paper is to minimize differences between landscape detailed design (hereafter 'design') and final landscape construction products in working sites (hereafter 'products'). Ten landscape sites constructed in recent two years were selected to examine the differences. Differences in quantities and quality between design and products were surveyed and the results were analyzed with the 'differential analysis method'. The method employed in this paper can be used as an optimization model to minimize the differences between design and products. This paper suggests that every landscape field should mark less than 13.672% calculated from the 10% of total amount for excellent construction products. This should be approved by the president, according to the Clause 20 of General Conditions of the Contract, divided by the ratio of quantities affecting mainly he average Difference in Value between Design and Construction(DVDC). This value can be the critical point from the differential analysis method for the optimal maximum DVDC between landscape design and final landscape construction products in fields.

트랙터 펜더의 진동저감을 위한 개선설계 방법 (Improvement Design Method for Vibration Reduction of Tractor Fender)

  • In this study, an improvement design method for reducing the vibration of fenders equipped in a tractor is proposed through the establishment of a finite element model and the topology optimization. As the original shapes of the parts cannot be altered, an improved design model was derived in which a stiffener was attached to the border of parts. Thus, the first resonance frequency was increased by approximately 16 Hz, which was confirmed to be the frequency interval for avoiding the idle and operating frequency of the engine. Finally the improved design model was applied to confirm the effect of vibration reduction. Therefore, it can be concluded that the improved design model of the tractor fender is effective at reducing vibrations of the tractor fender.

  • This paper introduces the use of network theory to model and analyze disparate ship design information. This work will focus on a ship's distributed systems and their intra- and intersystem structures and interactions. The three system to be analyzed are: a passageway system, an electrical system, and a fire fighting system. These systems will be analyzed individually using common network metrics to glean information regarding their structures and attributes. The systems will also be subjected to community detection algorithms both separately and as a multiplex network to compare their similarities, differences, and interactions. Network theory will be shown to be useful in the early design stage due to its simplicity and ability to model any shipboard system.

  • The free-model concept is introduced as an alternative intelligent system technique to design a controller with input and output data only. The idea of free model comes from the Taylor series approximation, where an output can be estimated when such data as position, velocity, and acceleration are known. The parameters in the free model can be estimated using the input-output data and a controller can be designed based on the free model. The free model thus developed is shown to be controllable, observable, and robust. The accuracy of the free-model approximation can be improved by increasing the observation window and the order of the free model.   • In this study, an eye-tracking program that can confirm a design cognition process was developed for the purpose of presenting strategic methods to create fashion images, and the program was used to identify what effects fashion models' external characteristics have on the cognition of design. The data for analysis were collected through an eyemovement tracking experiment and a survey, with the focus on the research problem that differences in models' external uniformity will lead to differences in the eye movement for perceiving models and design as well as the image sensibility. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, it was confirmed that the uniformity of model types and the simplicity/complexity of design led to differences in the eye movement directed at design and models and the gaze ratio. Consequently, it is deemed that models should be selected in consideration of the characteristics of design and the intention of planning when creating fashion images. Second, it was found that in terms of the cognition of design, external conditions of models affect design sensibility. A change in models led to a subtle difference in sensibility cognition even when the design condition did not change. Thus, not only the design but also model attributes are factors that should be considered important in fashion planning.

  • This study attempted to analyze the characteristics of interior design of the apartment units of Model-houses in terms of ecological aspects. 9 companies that possessed their model houses among the construction companies in Busan area as of August 2006 were selected. 20 units in the model houses of these companies were visited and analyzed. Through literature review, the guideline for the environmentally-friendly residential design was designed and developed to the checklists. The data collected were analyzed to find out the ecological characteristics of the interior space of apartment units. The findings are the followings. First, energy efficiency was properly considered in terms of natural lighting and natural ventilation. Second, in sustainability, the materials for floors and walls could not be reused even though they were environmentally-friendly. Water system needs more improvement for sustainable development including grey-water and rain recycling system. Third, interior greening should be applied more for better environment both physically and emotionally. It is expected that future housing will be more high-risen and densely-populated apartment spaces. Therefore, an approach to new ecological aspects including an emphasis on interior greening, use of eco-materials and adhesives, water recycling and flexibility of the spatial configuration should be made for the next generation.

  • 본 연구에서는 융합 및 융합예술교육에 대해 고찰하고 이를 바탕으로 융복합교육 강의모델을 연구 및 제안하고자 하였다. 이학 분야인 색채에 대한 전반적인 이해를 바탕으로 예술 분야인 화예디자인에 접목시켜 실제적으로 표현할 수 있는 융복합 교과과정을 운영하기 위하여 강의모델을 구성하였다. 학습자는 두 분야(화예디자인, 색채)가 융복합된 강의 구성과 이론과 실습을 진행하는 방식에 대해서 만족감이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 한 과목을 통하여 다양한 영역을 접할 수 있음에 타 수업과 차별된 강의 구성이라고 느꼈는데 이는 본 연구의 목적 및 필요성을 학습자 스스로 인지하고 있음을 나타낸다. 반면 전공자와 비전공자간의 배경지식, 수준차이가 있어 학습자의 이해도를 높일 수 있도록 지속적인 피드백과 실습난이도의 조정은 계속적으로 필요한 것으로 보인다. 화예디자인분야의 발전을 위해서 다양한 학문간의 융합을 통한 교육과정 개발과 교육모델이 구축되어야 한다. 본 연구가 향후 화예디자인교육과정 개발에 기초자료로 활용될 것을 기대한다.

  • The purpose of this research is to develop the technology to meet the requirements of the design content, and to build a 'Requirement Information Management Model' for the design project. The model that should be used in the early design stage will undergo the following process: First, basic requirements would be defined by extracting the design content in the form of a reusable library of space units. At the next stage, requirement information should be modified after considering unique characteristics for the project and conflict problems between function and performance.

  • This paper presents an intelligent model; named as free model, approach for a closed-loop system identification using input and output data and its application to design a power system stabilizer (PSS). The free model concept is introduced as an alternative intelligent system technique to design a controller for such dynamic system, which is complex, difficult to know, or unknown, with input and output data only, and it does not require the detail knowledge of mathematical model for the system. In the free model, the data used has incremental forms using backward difference operators. The parameters of the free model can be obtained by simultaneous perturbation stochastic approximation (SPSA) method. A linear transformation is introduced to convert the free model into a linear model so that a conventional linear controller design method can be applied. In this paper, the feasibility of the proposed method is demonstrated in a one-machine infinite bus power system. The linear quadratic regulator (LQR) method is applied to the free model to design a PSS for the system, and compared with the conventional PSS. The proposed SPSA-based LQR controller is robust in different loading conditions and system failures such as the outage of a major transmission line or a three phase to ground fault which causes the change of the system structure.
