  • The suitable area of forage crop field was calculated under the assumption that all of the liquied manure would be used to nutrient of crops at the Saemangeum crop-livestock complex. At first, Korean cattle and dairy cattle were selected and swine was excluded becausr of high pollution availability. When forage crop was calculated from nutrient amounts of manure of livestocks and standard applicable fertilizer quantity to the selected forage crops, 232ha (278ha including infrastructure part) was determined to be appropriate in case of 2500 heads of Korean cattle and 300 heads of dairy cattle were raised. From the result by that calculated ares (232ha) to forage crop feeding could be possible to the Korean cattle and dairy cattle feeding using TDN index, more than 217ha of forage crop fields would be satisfied nutritionally.

  • This study was conducted to estimate the effective population size using SNPs data of 240 Jeju horses that had raced at the Jeju racing park. Of the total 61,746 genotyped autosomal SNPs, 17,320 (28.1%) SNPs (missing genotype rate of >10%, minor allele frequency of <0.05 and Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium test P-value of < $10^{-6}$) were excluded after quality control processes. SNPs on the X and Y chromosomes and genotyped individuals with missing genotype rate over 10% were also excluded, and finally, 44,426 (71.9%) SNPs were selected and used for the analysis. The measures of the LD, square of correlation coefficient ($r^2$) between SNP pairs, were calculated for each allele and the effective population size was determined based on $r^2$ measures. The polymorphism information contents (PIC) and expected heterozygosity (HE) were 0.27 and 0.34, respectively. In LD, the most rapid decline was observed over the first 1 Mb. But $r^2$ decreased more slowly with increasing distance and was constant after 2 Mb of distance and the decline was almost linear with log-transformed distance. The average $r^2$ between adjacent SNP pairs ranged from 0.20 to 0.31 in each chromosome and whole average was 0.26, while the whole average $r^2$ between all SNP pairs was 0.02. We observed an initial pattern of decreasing $N_e$ and estimated values were closer to 41 at 1 ~ 5 generations ago. The effective population size (41 heads) estimated in this study seems to be large considering Jeju horse's population size (about 2,000 heads), but it should be interpreted with caution because of the technical limitations of the methods and sample size.

  • Any infant noted to be jaundiced at 2 weeks of age should be evaluated for cholestasis with measurement of total and direct serum bilirubin. With the insight into the clinical phenotype and the genotype-phenotype correlations, it is now possible to evaluate more precisely the neonate who presents with conjugated hyperbilirubinemia. Testing should be performed for the specific treatable causes of neonatal cholestasis, specifically sepsis, galactosemia, tyrosinemia, citrin deficiency and endocrine disorders. Biliary atresia must be excluded. Low levels of serum gamma-glutamyl transferase in the presence of cholestasis should suggest progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis type 1, 2, or arthrogryposis- renal dysfunction-cholestasis syndrome. If the serum bile acid level is low, a bile acid synthetic defect should be considered. Molecular genetic testing and molecular-based diagnostic strategies are in evolution.

  • When planning buildings, safety should be considered as a priority over any other performance. The study aims to derive and systematize elements that can be reflected in the design stage, which affects the safety of construction workers and building users. The elements for safety of workers are classified by type of work, and the elements for safety of users are classified by fields. Elements that are difficult to be reflected in design stage or those whose effects are insignificant are excluded. In addition, application scenarios have been proposed for each element so that the elements created in this study can be directly applied and utilized in practice. This will contribute to lowering the accident rate of construction projects by evaluating the harmful risks of construction projects at the design stage.

  • Fennovoima's nuclear power plant, Hanhikivi 1, $Pyh{\ddot{a}}joki$, Finland, is currently in design phase, and its construction is scheduled to begin in 2018 and electricity production in 2024. The objective of this paper is to produce a preliminary list of safety-significant external event combinations including preliminary probability estimates, to be used in the probabilistic risk assessment of Hanhikivi 1 plant. Starting from the list of relevant single events, the relevant event combinations are identified based on seasonal variation, preconditions related to different events, and dependencies (fundamental and cascade type) between events. Using this method yields 30 relevant event combinations of two events for the Hanhikivi site. The preliminary probability of each combination is evaluated, and event combinations with extremely low probability are excluded from further analysis. Event combinations of three or more events are identified by adding possible events to the remaining combinations of two events. Finally, 10 relevant combinations of two events and three relevant combinations of three events remain. The results shall be considered preliminary and will be updated after evaluating more detailed effects of different events on plant safety.

  • Cladding failure in a fuel rod during operation in a BWR is analyzed using a FALCON code-based model. Comparative calculation with a neighbouring, intact rod is presented, as well. A considerable 'hot spot' effect in cladding temperature is predicted with the SLICE-DO model due to a thermal barrier caused by the localized crud deposition. Particularly significant overheating is expected to occur on the affected side of the cladding of the failed rod, in agreement with signs of significant localized crud deposition as revealed by Post Irradiation Examination. Different possibilities (criteria) are checked, and Pellet-Cladding Mechanical Interaction (PCMI) is shown to be one of the plausible potential threats. It is shown that PCMI could lead to discernible concentrated inelastic deformation in the overheated part of the cladding. None of the specific mechanisms considered can be experimentally or analytically identified as an only cause of the rod failure. However, according to the current calculation, a possibility of cladding failure by PCMI cannot be excluded if the crud thickness exceeded 300 ㎛.

  • White lesions of the oral mucosa are a common clinical finding that often present first to general dentist. Some white lesion may have possibility of malignancy. Leukoplakia is the most common "potentially malignant disorder" of the oral mucosa. Leukoplakia is at present defined as "A white plaque of questionable risk having excluded (other) known disease or disorders that carry no increased risk for cancer.". Therefore, it is important for general dentist to be familiar to clinical differential diagnosis of leukoplakia from the known white lesions such as candidiasis, lichen planus, leukoedema, frictional keratosis, and so on. It is also important to decide whether such lesions require further investigation through the biopsy. As a result of biopsy, the presence of epithelial dysplasia in the leukoplakia is still the strongest predictor of future malignant transformation. In this article, oral white lesions that must be differentiated from potentially malignant disorders or early invasive squamous cell carcinoma will be reviewed together with presenting clinical cases.
