  • In temperate monsoon regions, extensive shallow landslides triggered by heavy rainfall are recurrent phenomena in mountainous areas. 1,357 landslides over Jinbu area, Korea that totaled 127 km2 were identified from aerial photographs and field survey. We examined characteristics of rainfall-induced shallow landslides and casual factors affecting landslide distribution with respect to topographic and forest settings, and land use. Most landslides occurred in the study area were the results of a complex combination of precondition, preparatory factors and triggering factors. Cumulative rainfall and high intensity rainfall during short period of time made the study area very sensitive to landslides and played as catalysts to enable other factors including topographic and forest settings, and land use to act more effectively. In addition, some landslides at lower elevation involved channel incision or bank erosion influenced by land use changes such as deforestation and intensification of agriculture surrounding riparian forests or hillslopes. The results suggest that most of landslide were triggered by heavy rainstorms while topographic, forest settings, and land use affected landslide distribution occurred in the study area.

  • Active database execute an action of active rule defined in advance which is triggered automatically, whenever an event with the matching event specifications occurs, its condition is evaluated. Because these rules may in turn trigger other rules, the set of rules may be triggered each other indefinitely, Therefore, we propose a termination analysis method to guarantee termination. This proposed method considers composite event as well as rule execution time. Above all, the method not only uses deactivation graph combined to trigger graph for exact analysis, but also improves the complexity of analysis. Also the proposed method enhances accuracy of analysis result.

  • Since the telemetry performance using the time-delayed data dissipates the wireless channel resources, we propose the spectral efficient retransmission scheme in this paper. In the proposed scheme, the telemetry data is retransmitted based on triggered memory to improve the spectral efficiency. The proposed scheme minimizes the error caused by multipath fading, antenna pattern as well as the error caused by the flight events. In the flight simulation data, we show the proposed scheme improves the telemetry performance based on spectral efficient retransmission.

  • Theoretical-numerical approach of combustion instability in a specific rocket engine is conducted with parametric response functions. Fluctuating instantaneous burning rate is assumed to be functionally coupled with acoustic pressures and have a finite or time-varying amplitudes and phase lags. Only when the amplitudes and phases of combustion response function are sufficiently large and small respectively, the triggered unstable waves are amplified.

  • In a packet switching network, congestion is unavoidable and affects the quality of real-time traffic with such problems as delay and packet loss. Packet fair queuing (PFQ) algorithms are well-known solutions for quality-of-service (QoS) guarantee by packet scheduling. Our approach is different from previous algorithms in that it uses hardware time achieved by sampling a counter triggered by a periodic clock signal. This clock signal can be provided to all the modules of a routing system to get synchronization. In this architecture, a variant of the PFQ algorithm, called digitized delay queuing (DDQ), can be distributed on many line interface modules. We derive the delay bounds in a single processor system and in a distributed architecture. The definition of traffic contribution improves the simplicity of the mathematical models. The effect of different time between modules in a distributed architecture is the key idea for understanding the delay behavior of a routing system. The number of bins required for the DDQ algorithm is also derived to make the system configuration clear. The analytical models developed in this paper form the basis of improvement and application to a combined input and output queuing (CIOQ) router architecture for a higher speed QoS network.

  • Alert-confirm detection is a highly efficient method to improve phased array radar search performance. It comprises sequential detection in two steps: alert detection, in which a target is detected at a low detection threshold, and confirm detection, which is triggered by alert detection with a longer dwell time to minimize false alarms. This paper provides a design method for applying the alert-confirm detection to multifunctional radars. We find optimum dwell times and false alarm probabilities for each alert detection and confirm detection under the dual constraints of total false alarm probability and maximum allowable dwell time per position. These optimum values are expressed as a function of the mean new target appearance rate. The proposed alert-confirm detection increases the maximum detection range even with a shorter frame time than that of uniform scanning.

  • This paper describes the design of a hardware systenl for ECG feature extraction based on pipeline processor consistinsf of three microcomputers. ECG data is acquisited by 12 bit A/D converter with hardware QRS triggered detector. Four diagnostic parameters parameters-heart rate, morPhology, axis, and 57 segment-are used for the classification and the diagnosis of arrhythmia. The functions of the main CPU were distributed and processed with three microcomputers. Therefore the effective data process and the real time process using microcomputer can be obtained. The interconnection structure consisting of two common memory units is designed to decrease the delay time caused by data transfer between processors and designed by which the delay time can be taken Loye of one clock period.

  • FlexRay is a new standard of network communication system which provides a high speed serial communication, time triggered bus and fault tolerant communication between electronic devices for future automotive and ship applications. FlexRay communication controller(CC) is the core of the FlexRay protocol specification. In this paper, we first design the FlexRay CC protocol specification and function parts using SDL(Specification and Description Language). Then, the system is re-designed using Verilog HDL based on the SDL source. The FlexRay CC system was synthesized using Samsung $0.35{\mu}m$ technology. It is shown that the designed system can operate in the frequency range above 80 MHz. In addition, to show the validity of the designed FlexRay system, the FlexRay system is combined with sound source localization system in Robot applications. The combined system is implemented using ALTERA Excalibur ARM EPXA4F672C3. It is shown that the implemented system operates successfully.

  • This paper is implemented a control algorithm in order to be stable and minimized to entire train traffic system at delayed case. Signal ing system is described wi th algebraic equations given for train headway, Discrete-event simulation principles are reviewed and a demonstration block signaling model using the technique is implemented. Train congestion at station entrance for short headway operation is demonstrated and the propagation of delays along a platform of trains from any imposed delay to the leading train is also shown. A rail way signaling system is by nature a distributed operation with event triggered at discrete intervals. Although the train kinematic variables of position, velocity, and acceleration are continually changing, the changes are triggered when the trains pass over section boundaries and arrive at signals and route switches. This paper deals with linear-mode1ing, stability and optimal control for the traffic on such metro line of the model is reconstructed in order to adapt the circuits. This paper propose optimal control laws wi th state feedback ensuring the stability of the modeled system for circuits. Simulation results show the benefit to be expected from an efficient traffic control. The main results are summarized as follows: 1. In this paper we develop a linear model describing the traffic for both loop lines, two state space equations have been analyzed. The first one is adapted to the situation where a complete nominal time schedule is available while second one is adapted when only the nominal time interval between trains is known, in both cases we show the unstability of the traffic when the proceeding train is delayed following properties, - They are easily implemented at law cost on existing lines. - They ensure the exponetial stability of loop system. 2. These control laws have been tested on a traffic simulation software taking into the non-linearites and the physical constraints on a metro line. By means of simulation, the efficiency of the proposed optimal control laws are shown.
