HTGR using a TRISO coated particles as nuclear raw fuel material can be used to produce clean hydrogen gas and process heat for a next-generation energy source. For these purposes, a TRISO coated particle was prepared with 3 pyro-carbon (buffer, IPyC, and OPyC) layers and 1 silicone carbide (SiC) layer using a CVD technique on a spherical $UO_2$ kernel surface as a fissile material. In this study, a spherical $UO_2$ particle was prepared using a modified sol-gel method with a vibrating nozzle system, and TRISO coating fabrication was carried out using a fluidized bed reactor with coating gases, such as acetylene, propylene, and methyltrichlorosilane (MTS). As the results of this study, a spherical $UO_2$ kernel with a sphericity of 1+0.06 was obtained, and the main process parameters in the $UO_2$ kernel preparation were the well-formed nature of the spherical ADU liquid droplets and the suitable temperature control in the thermal treatment of intermediate compounds in the ADU, $UO_3$, and $UO_2$ conversions. Also, the important parameters for the TRISO coating procedure were the coating temperature and feed rate of the feeding gas in the PyC layer coating, the coating temperature, and the volume fraction of the reactant and inert gases in the SiC deposition.

Single crystal $ZnIn_2S_4$ layers were grown on thoroughly etched semi-insulating GaAs(100) substrate at $450^{\circ}C$ with hot wall epitaxy (HWE) system by evaporating $ZnIn_2S_4$ source at $610^{\circ}C$. The temperature dependence of the energy band gap of the $ZnIn_2S_4$ obtained from the absorption spectra was well described by the Varshni's relation, $E_g$(T) = 2.9514eV - ($7.24\times10^{-4}$ eV/K)$T^2$/(T + 489 K). After the as-grown $ZnIn_2S_4$ single crystal thin films was annealed in Zn-, S-, and In-atmospheres, the origin of point defects of $ZnIn_2S_4$ single crystal thin films has been investigated by the photoluminescence(PL) at 10 K. The native defects of $V_{Zn}$, $V_s$, $Zn_{int}$, and $S_{int}$, obtained by PL measurements were classified as a donors or acceptors type. And we concluded that the heat-treatment in the S-atmosphere converted $ZnIn_2S_4$ single crystal thin films to an optical p-type. Also, we confirmed that In in $ZnIn_2S_4$/GaAs did not form the native defects because In in $ZnIn_2S_4$ single crystal thin films existed in the form of stable bonds.

To obtain the single crystal thin films, $AgGaSe_2$ mixed crystal was deposited on thoroughly etched semi-insulating GaAs(100) substrate by the hot wall epitaxy (HWE) system. The source and substrate temperatures were $630^{\circ}C$ and $420^{\circ}C$, respectively. The temperature dependence of the energy band gap of the $AgGaSe_2$ obtained from the absorption spectra was well described by the Varshni's relation, $E_g$(T) 1.9501 eV - ($8.79\times10^{-4}$ eV/K)$T^2$/(T + 250 K). After the as-grown $AgGaSe_2$ single crystal thin films was annealed in Ag-, Se-, and Ga-atmospheres, the origin of point defects of $AgGaSe_2$ single crystal thin films has been investigated by the photoluminescence(PL) at 10K. The native defects of $V_{Ag}$, $V_{Se}$, $Ag_{int}$, and $Se_{int}$ obtained by PL measurements were classified as a donors or acceptors type. And we concluded that the heat-treatment in the Ag-atmosphere converted $AgGaSe_2$ single crystal thin films to an optical p-type. Also, we confirmed that Ga in $AgGaSe_2$/GaAs did not form the native defects because Ga in $AgGaSe_2$ single crystal thin films existed in the form of stable bonds.

The competition to deliver ultra-low emitting vehicles at a reasonable cost is driving the automotive industry to invest significant manpower and test laboratory resources in the design optimization of increasingly complex exhaust after-treatment systems. Optimization can no longer be based on traditional approaches, which are intensive in hardware use and laboratory testing. The CFD is in high demand for the analysis and design in order to reduce developing cost and time consuming in experiments. This paper describes the development of a comprehensive practical model based on experiments for simulating the performance of automotive three-way catalytic converters, which are employed to reduce engine exhaust emissions. An experiment is conducted to measure species concentrations before and after catalytic converter for different loads on engine. The model simulates the emission system behavior by using an exhaust system heat conservation and catalyst chemical kinetic sub-model. CFD simulation is used to study the performance of automotive catalytic converter. The substrate is modeled as a porous media in FLUENT and the standard k-e model is used for turbulence. The flow pattern is changed from axial to radial by changing the substrate model inside the catalytic converter and the flow distribution and the conversion efficiency of CO, HC and NOx are achieved first, and the predictions are in good agreement with the experimental measurements. It is found that the conversion from axial to radial flow makes the catalytic converter more efficient. These studies help to understand better the performance of the catalytic converter in order to optimize the converter design.
Purpose: Dentin hypersensitivity is a potential threat to oral health. Laser irradiation may provide reliable and reproducible treatment but remains controversial. The present study aimed to evaluate the effects of $CO_2$ or erbium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet (Er:YAG) laser therapy, and to assess mineral content. Methods: Eighteen human single-rooted teeth affected with advanced periodontitis were obtained. Buccal and lingual surfaces were planed to form 36 specimens. Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid gel (24%) was applied to remove the smear layer and simulate hypersensitive teeth. The experimental groups were: group 1, control (no irradiation); group 2, $CO_2$ laser (repetitive pulsed mode, 2 W, $2.7J/cm^2$); and group 3, Er:YAG laser (slight contact mode, 40 mJ/pulse and 10 Hz). To evaluate dentinal tubule occlusion, six specimens per group (2-mm thickness) were prepared and observed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) for calculation of the occlusion percentage. To evaluate the mineral content, six specimens per group (0.6-mm thickness) were used, and then the levels of Ca, K, Mg, Na, and P were measured by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry. In addition, the surface temperature of the specimens during laser irradiation was analyzed by a thermograph. Results: The SEM photomicrographs indicated melted areas around exposed dentinal tubules and a significantly greater percentage of tubular occlusion in the $CO_2$ and Er:YAG laser groups than the control, and in the Er:YAG group than the $CO_2$ laser group. In addition, no significant differences were noted among the experimental groups for the mineral elements analyzed. The $CO_2$ laser group showed an evident thermal effect compared to the Er:YAG group. Conclusions: $CO_2$ and Er:YAG laser are effective in treating dentin hypersensitivity and reducing its symptoms. However, the Er:YAG laser has a more significant effect; thus, it may constitute a useful conditioning item. Furthermore, neither $CO_2$ nor Er:YAG lasers affected the compositional structure of the mineral content.

In this study, we investigated the feasibility of using printed Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) film as a remote sensor for Hazardous and Noxious Substances (HNS). To improve the quality of the ITO films, binder mixing ratio, Sn concentration in ITO, thermal treatment temperature, and printing process conditions were optimized. We fabricated an electrical resistance-type liquid sensor, and to confirm the sensor operation, the change in resistance in air and seawater was monitored. The change in resistance of the ITO sensor was explained in terms of reduction reaction on the surface. Further, the sensor was controlled by Arduino, and the remote data acquisition was demonstrated.

In the case of boiling on high temperature wall, vapor film covers fully or parcially the surface. This phenomenon, film boiling or transition boiling, is very important in the surface heat treatment of metal, design of cryogenic heat exchanger and emergency cooling of nuclear reactor. Mainly supposed hydraulic-thermal accidents in nuclear reactor are LCCA (Loss of Coolant Accident) and PCM (Power-Cooling Mismatch). Recently, world-wide studies on reflooding of high temperature rod bundles after the occurrence of the above accidents focus attention on wall temperature history and required time in transient cooling process, wall superheat at rewet point, heat flux-wall superheat relationship beyond the transition boiling region, and two-phase flow state near the surface. It is considered that the further systematical study in this field will be in need in spite of the previous results in ref. (2), (3), (4). The paper is the study about the fast transient cooling process following the wall temperature excursion under the CHF (Critical Heat Flux) condition in a forced convective subcooled boiling system. The test section is a vertically arranged concentric annulus of 800 mm long and 10 mm hydraulic diameter. The inner tube, SUS 304 of 400 mm long, 8 mm I.D, and 7 mm O.D., is heated uniformly by the low voltage AC power. The wall temperature measurements were performed at the axial distance from the inlet of the heating tube, z=390 mm. 6 chromel- alumel thermocouples of 76 .mu.m were press fitted to the inner surface of the heating tube periphery. To investigate the heat transfer characteristics during the fast transient cooling process, the outer surface (fluid side) temperature and the surface heat flux are computed from the measured inner surface temperature history by means of a numerical method for inverse problems of transient heat conduction. Present cooling (boiling) curve is sufficiently compared with the previous results.
The Sun's ray is composed of Infrared(49%), Visible light(40%) and Ultra violet(11%), however the ray getting to the earth is FIR(Far infrared; 60%), IR(Infrared; 20%), and UV(Ultra Violet; 20%). Human beings has utilized FIR already from time immemorial. Hershel found out Infrared for the first time. in the Industrial Revolution the Infrared and FIR had been begun to use making products. In these days, with contemporary science FIR would be begun to clear up the implication in the human body and organic compound. IR classified by wavelength three parts NlR, MIR, FIR. There is FIR which is radiated from healthy human body the wave length is 8-l4m. The human body is composed of proteins which get easily changed by a thermal factor (about 42 $^{\circ}$C over). FIR with low temperature can deeply penetrate on the human body composed things without troublesomes, since FIR has effectively operated on the human body at low temperature (35-40 $^{\circ}$C). When FlR penetrated on the human body. it would inhibit the abnormal genes and cells expression, and then information of DNA and RNA would be reexpressed for arranging DNA and RNA abnormal state. As FlR's receptors in the body, it could be presumed that N-glycosyl linkage of purine and deoxyribose, RNA splicing process, and Heat shock protein. To take the FIR which was a optimized wavewlength and strength, at first, we induced the characteristic algorithm and the computerized programing. Then we formed that the formular of optimized FIR with physical, mathematical logic and theory. especially, Plank, Kirchhoff, Wien, Stefan-Boltzmann's logic and law. In the long run, the formular was induced with integration mathematical, since we had to know the molecular wavelength. Based on the induced formular as above, we programmed the optimized FlR radiating computerized program. In this research, we designed the eletronic circuit f3r interfacing with human body to diagnosis and treatment with FIR sensor which radiated FIR wavelength optimized.
In this study, the study of the selective catalytic oxidation (SCO) for controlling the $NH_3$ at $200{\sim}350^{\circ}C$ range was investigated. Physicochemical properties of the catalysts were determined using XRD and XPS analysis. In the case of catalytic activity according to thermal treatment condition, the reduction catalyst showed better activity than that of using the calcination catalyst. It was confirmed that the valence state of reduction catalyst was mainly $Pt^{2+}$ and $Pt^0$ as analyzed by XPS. Also, when comparing the reaction activities of $Pt/TiO_2$ catalysts according to the reduction temperature, the $NH_3$ conversion of the catalyst reduced at $700^{\circ}C$ showed the most excellent activity. However, the best activity of $NH_3$ conversion to $N_2$ was obtained for the catalyst reduced at $600^{\circ}C$.
In recent years, many studies have been done on the performance of concrete containing glass powder (GP). For the purpose of widespread use of GP in concrete mixes, a knowledge of the performance of such a mixture after a fire is essential for the perspective of structural use. This research work was carried out to evaluate the performance of High Performance Concrete (HPC) made with GP after being exposed to elevated temperature. The studied mixtures include partial replacement of cement by GP with up to 30%. The mechanical performance and structural alterations were assessed after high temperature treatment from 200℃ to 800℃. The mechanical performance was evaluated by testing the specimens to the compressive and tensile strength. In addition, the mass loss and the porosity were measured to notice the structural alterations. Changes in microstructure due to temperature was also investigated by the X-ray diffraction (XRD) and thermal gravimetric analyses (TGA) as well as porosity adsorption tests. The results of the concrete strength tests showed a slight difference in compressive strength and the same tensile strength performance when replacing a part of the cement by GP. However, after high temperature exposition, concrete with GP showed better performance than the reference concrete for temperature below 600℃. But, after heating at 800℃, the strength of the concrete with GP drop slightly more than reference concrete. This is accompanied by an important increase in mass loss and water porosity. After the microstructure analysis, no important changes happened differently for concrete with GP at high temperature except a new calcium silica form appears after the 800℃ heating.
