We present a systematic study of the heating and pre-sintering behavior of porous copper powder metal compacts. We employ a TE102 single mode microwave system to position the samples in the separated electric field (E) or magnetic field (H) anti-node of the cavity. We observe significant differences in the heating, pre-sintering, and microstructure evolution of the samples due to the individual fields. We note that sample history (whether heated first in the E-field or H-field) greatly effects a difference in heating trends and subsequent heating behavior and does not appear to be solely a thermal process.
The diesel pre-heater has being used in cabin heating and coolant heating of engine to reduce the engine warm up time for commercial vehicle. The pre-heaters are classified as diesel spray combustor and it forms diffusion flame. By using swirler, a recirculation flow of hot product gases is established near the fuel nozzle and it helps the maintaining of diffusion flame. The design difference of swirler can affect on reaction characteristics and temperature distribution inside pre-heater. The purpose of this study is the investigation of the effect of swirler configuration on combustion characteristics. To solve spray combustion problem, the Euler-Lagrange approach discrete model is used to track droplet trajectory and evaporation history. The PDF equilibrium model is used for chemical reaction model. These models are implemented into the FLUENT code.
Morphology of low density polyethylene(LDPE) such as the degree of crystallinity changes with thermal history etc. In order to clarify the effects of morphological changes on electrical breakdown, we studied direct current and impulse breakdown phenomena of LDPE films heat-treated at 100[$^{\circ}C$] for 1[H] in silicone oil and subsequently cooling to various ways. The degree of crystallinity was estimated by the infra red absorption and X-ray diffraction measurements for the specimens of slowly cooled, cooled in water, original, and cooled in liquid nitrogen gas. As the result, we obtained that the first, second, third, and fourth was slowly cooled of 70.23[%], cooled in water of 61.6[%], original specimen of 56.75[%], and cooled in liquid nitrogen gas of 34.7[%] respectively. The crystalline size and distribution of specimens were researched by Differential scanning calolimeter measurements.
In this study, the lap welding between austenitic stainless steel and carbon steel was carried out using arc spot welding process and weldability of welded specimens was estimated. From the tensile-shear strength test, micro Vickers hardness test, and microstructure observation, specimen of 6.5mm(hole of upper plate) showed the best results in terms of tensile-shear strength and nugget shape. And there was an unmixed zone in fusion boundary between the carbon steel base metal and bulk weld metal. This zone had very thin width with the hard microstructure. The shape of weld nugget in arc spot welding of dissimilar metal welds was predicted by searching thermal history of a weld joint through a three-dimensional finite element model. From the numerical analysis, predicted the shape of weld nugget showed good agreement with the experiment(Received August 24, 1999)
The problems of welding distortion in a welded structures are major concern in heavy industry. Weld-induced angular distortion's formula, composed weld parameter such as heat input and plate thickness, is developed analytically by the use of an elliptic cylindrical inclusion with an eigenstrain in an infinite laminated plate theory. The source of angular distortion in weldments is the plastic strains, which are caused by non-uniform temperature gradient. The distributions of the plastic strain corresponding eigenstrain are assumed by the use of Rosenthal's solution expressing thermal history. Comparison of calculated results with experimental data shows the accuracy and validity of the proposed method.

Calculation of wear depth with regard to the wear topology is peformed numerically Four typical wear topology, that is round, crescent, flat, and diamond types are adopted to represent the configuration of wear volume. Diamond and flat types are the most severe topology for wear depth history, whereas round and crescent types have small increasing rate of wear depth to the wear volume. Based on this study we can guess that the most severe wear phenomena happens to be upper side of U-tubes in the KSNP SG, because flat or diamond wear will be generated by the wearing motion between tubes and diagonal, vertical, horizontal strips. The misalignment of tube at the stage of manufacturing or distortion of upper structure due to the thermal expansion or vibration of upper structure such as diagonal, vertical, and horizontal strips will be one of the main causes of flat or diamond wear.

A finite element computational procedure for the accurate analysis of quasistatic thermorheological complex structures response is developed. The geometrical nonlinearity, arising from large displacements and rotations (but small strains), is accounted for by the total Lagrangian description of motion. The Schapery's nonlinear single-integral viscoelastic constitutive model is modified for a time-stress-temperature-dependent behavior. The nonlinear thermo-viscoelastic constitutive equations are incrementalized leading to a recursive relationship and thereby the resulting finite element equations necessitate data storage from the previous time step only, and not the entire deformation history. The Newton-Raphson iterative scheme is employed to obtain a converged solution for the non-linear finite element equations. The developed numerical model is verified with the previously published works and a good agreement with them is found. The applicability of the developed model is demonstrated by analyzing two examples with different thermal/mechanical loading histories.
Anhidrosis refers to the condition in which the body does not respond appropriately to thermal stimuli by sweating. Sweating plays an important role in maintaining the body temperature, and its absence should not be overlooked since an elevated body temperature can cause various symptoms, even leading to death when uncontrolled. The various neurological disorders that can induce anhidrosis make a detailed neurological evaluation essential. The medication history of the patient should also be checked because anhidrosis can be caused by various drugs. The tests available for evaluating sweating include the quantitative sudomotor axon reflex sweat test, thermoregulatory sweat test, sympathetic skin response, and electrochemical skin conductance. Pathological findings can also be checked directly in a skin biopsy. This review discusses the differential diagnosis and evaluation of anhidrosis.
Protostars grow their mass by the accretion of disk material, which is infalling from the envelope. This accretion process is important to the physical and chemical conditions of the disk and envelope, and thus, the planets yet to be formed from the disk material. Therefore, if we map the physical and chemical properties of disks and envelopes, we can study indirectly the accretion process in star formation. In particular, the chemical distribution in the disk and the inner envelope of a young stellar object is greatly affected by the thermal history, which is mainly determined by the accretion process in the system. In my talk, I will review the episodic accretion model for the low mass star formation and observational efforts to find the evidence of episodic accretion. Finally, I will present our recent ALMA detection of several complex organic molecules associated directly with the planet formation in V883 Ori, which is in the burst accretion phase.
