  • We propose a new method to visualize 3D models for FDM (Fused Deposition. Modeling) printing that appearance of the printed results can be predicted more realistically as that the efficiency of the modeling-printing process can be improved. The layered nature of horizontal slicing and the vibratory nozzle movements of customer-level FDM 3D printers leaving the characteristic patterns of noisy stripes on the surfaces of printed objects make difficulties in prediction of printed result in company with the thermal contraction of filament material. First, our method analyses the G-codes generated by common slicers to obtain proper outlines and take advantages of a modified version of Perlin noise based texturing method for rendering efficiency and enough number of control parameters on the visual details. The results show improved rendering details of pre-visualization of FDM printing.

  • A total of 460 palaeomagnetic samples was collected from the Tertiary Chongja-Ulsan basins and surrounding area in the southeastern part of Korean peninsula. All samples were stepwise demagnetized by either alternating field or thermal method. It was found that most sample-sites have ChRM declination which has been rotated clockwise from the north-south reference direction of Tertiary East Asia, although other two extrusive sample-sites within the Chongja sedimentary basin show counterclockwise rotation of ChRM declination. Fold tests for the site-mean ChRMs of the latter two sites reveal insignificant result and negative result with 95% confidence level, respectively. The amount of the clockwise deflection of declination varies from about $20^{\circ}$ upto about $80^{\circ}$ according to the block to which each sample-site belongs. The amount of the counterclockwise deflection is about $20^{\circ}$. It is concluded that the clockwise ChRM rotation has been caused by dextral simple shearing accompanied by NNW-SSE spreading of the East Sea which has been active until about 16Ma, and that the counterclockwise rotation is a result of sinistral simple shearing associated with WNW-ESE contraction in the Korean Strait-SW Japan region at about 15 Ma.

  • Recently, research and development related to high strength concrete for the high rise and large scale reinforced concrete building has been actively promoted in worldwide by national and private research project. But, it is reported that violent explosive explosion would be happened when it was exposed in fire. In the existed study, a explosion in a reinforced concrete structure looses the organism by the different contraction and expansion of hardened cement paste and aggregate, and causes crack by thermal stress. In case of the Europe, Japan and America, they have studied the explosion for a long time. However it would hardly study the explosion in domestic, So it is needed base on mechanical properties of fire deterioration in high strength concrete. Therefore, this study is intend as an mechanical properties of specimen to high heating by heating and load test machine and $700^{\circ}C$. As a result, it is willing to propose fundamental data for quick and accurate diagnosis of deteriorated concrete structure by fire damage with experiment according to the design high strength concrete.

  • Buckling Restrained Braces (BRB) have been widely used in the construction industry as they utilize the most desirable properties of both constituent materials, i.e., steel and concrete. They present excellent structural qualities such as high load bearing capacity, ductility, energy-absorption capability and good structural fire behaviour. The effects of size and type of filler material in the existed gap at the steel core-concrete interface as well as the element's cross sectional shape, on BRB's fire resistance capacity was investigated in this paper. A nonlinear sequentially-coupled thermal-stress three-dimensional model was presented and validated by experimental results. Variation of the samples was described by three groups containing, the steel cores with the same cross section areas and equal yield strength but different materials (metal and concrete) and sizes for the gap. Responses in terms of temperature distribution, critical temperature, heating elapsed time and contraction level of BRB element were examined. The study showed that the superior fire performance of BRB was obtained by altering the filler material in the gap from metal to concrete as well as by increasing the size of the gap. Also, cylindrical BRB performed better under fire conditions compared to the rectangular cross section.

  • The residual stresses on the surfaces of low carbon 12Cr steels used as a nuclear steam turbine blade material have been studied by controlling the flame hardening surface treatments. The temperature cycles on the surfaces of 12Cr steel were controlled precisely as a function of both the surface temperature and cooling rate. The final residual stress state generated by flame hardening was dominated by two opposite competitive contributions; one is tensile stress due to phase transformation and the other is compressive stress due to thermal contraction on cooling. The optimum processing temperatures required for the desirable residual stress and hardness were in the range of $850^{\circ}C$ to $960^{\circ}C$ on the basis of the specification of GE power engineering. It was also observed that the high residual tensile stress generated by flame hardening induced the cracks on the surfaces, especially across the prior austenite grain boundaries, and the material failure virtually, which might limit practical use of the surface engineered parts by flame hardening.

  • This study was carried out to research the change of mineral phases and the characteristics(apparent specific gra-vity water absorption firing shrinkage modulus of rupture thermal expansion and specific dielectric constant) of the sintered bodies manufactured by kaolin and limestone. Samples were composed of the same theoretical composition as it of anorthite and fired up to 145$0^{\circ}C$ Investigated the change and micro-structure of the mineral phases by XRD and SEM the characterisdtics of the sintered bodies by TMA Automatic Capacitance Bridge and etc. The results were as follow. 1. Reactions of sintering are occurred between 860-95$0^{\circ}C$ and 1200-138$0^{\circ}C$ and state of bloating is occurred at 1410-145$0^{\circ}C$ 2. For the inclusion of feldspar and its fine particles of materials the temperature of producing and collapsing is decreased. 3. Pseudo-wollastonite and gehlenite are formed about 95$0^{\circ}C$ 4. At 114$0^{\circ}C$ anorthite are begin to forming and increase continuously to 138$0^{\circ}C$. Above 141$0^{\circ}C$ content of anorthite are decreased. 5. The variations of bending strength with sintering temperature reflect similar trend of sintered contraction and in-crease continuously from 120$0^{\circ}C$. At 145$0^{\circ}C$ reached about 680kg/cm2. 6. Specific dielectric constant$($\varepsilon$_s)$ of specimen sintered at 141$0^{\circ}C$ is 7.12 and that value is most favorable.

  • Pit and rim formation on the Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene(ABS) plastic surface was evaluated after it was irradiated by $CO_2$ and Nd:YAG laser beams. Our results show that thermal effect floor was well observed at the outer wall of pit with $CO_2$ laser irradiated while it was not the case with Nd:YAG laser irradiated. Also the volume and depth of pit formation increase proportionally with the energy intensities of two laser irradiations, but there are significant differences in the slope, width, and FWHM of the Pit formation with two types of laser irradiations. This result shows that $CO_2$ laser irradiation leads to better cooling contraction effect while Nd:YAG laser irradiation induces better recoil pressure effect during the interaction between ABS plastic and laser beam irradiation. The shape of the laser marking could vary significantly depending on the traveling path of molten plastic during injection molding of ABS plastic. Therefore, the selection of material and molding process can have a great impact on the performance of optical storage media.

  • This work has been performed to evaluate the strength of fixtures, which were attached to outer surface of propeller flask to prevent transient movement during filling and cooling stages at Ni-Al-Bronze casting of large marine propellers. Experimental work was carried out to evaluate forces exerted on flask fixtures by measuring strain changes of fixtures due to thermal expansion and contraction during casting processes. Numerical analyses were also made to verify the experimental results and finally to evaluate the validity of arrangement of flask fixtures for casting of marine propellers.

  • In order to understand why annealing at $480^{\circ}C$ for several hour prevents the initiation of PWSCC, the residual stress variation with isothermal annealing at $480^{\circ}C$ and isochronal annealing between 480 and $800^{\circ}C$ in cold rolled Alloy 600 was investigated by the XRD method. The isothermal annealing decreased residual stress slightly in the rolling direction but not in the transverse direction, whereas the isochronal annealing for two hours increased residual stress. It seemed that the decrease in residual stress by isothermal annealing was due to lattice contraction by an ordering reaction because the isothermal annealing increased hardness. The effects of the isochronal annealing could be interpreted as the influence of thermal expansion and a disordering reaction.

  • Our group previously observed the intrinsic stress evolution of Cu thin films during deposition by changing the deposition rate. Intrinsic stress of Cu thin films, which show Volmer-Weber growth, is reported to display three unique stress stages, initial compressive, broad tensile, and incremental compressive stress. The mechanisms of the initial compressive stress and incremental compressive stages remain subjects of debate, despite intensive research inquiries. The tensile stress stage may be related to volume contraction through grain growth and coalescence to reduce over-accumulate Cu adatoms on the film surface. The in-situ intrinsic stresses behavior in Cu thin films was investigated in the present study using a multi-beam curvature measurement system attached to a thermal evaporation device. The effect of substrate surface roughness was monitored by observed the in-situ intrinsic stress behavior in Cu thin films during deposition, using $100{\mu}m$ thick Si(111) wafer substrates with three different levels of surface roughness.
