  • We present the concept of a Medical Digital Twin (MDT) that can predict and analyze medical diseases using computer simulations and introduce a dynamic virtual body capture system to create it. The MDT is a technology that creates a 3D digital virtual human body by reflecting individual medical and biometric information. The virtual human body is composed of a static virtual human body that reflects an individual's internal and external information and a dynamic virtual human body that reflects his motion. Especially we describe an early version of the dynamic virtual body capture system that enables continuous simulation of musculoskeletal diseases.

  • While it is an important element of clothing construction, research has so far been very limited on the similarities between virtual and real clothing in terms of the type of neckline. The purpose of this study is to verify the similarity, accuracy of virtualization, and actuality of neckline, which all play an important role in individual impressions and image formation, and require considerable modification when fitting real samples. A total of 5 neckline models were selected through the analysis of dress composition textbooks. The selected designs were then planned and manufactured in muslin. The specimen clothes were then tested on a female model in her 20s. 2 kinds of virtual bodies were created in order to compare the real and the virtual dressing. The first virtual body was made through an Artec 3D Eva scan of the model, and the other was made by entering the model's measurements in a CLO 3D program. A visual image of the front, side, and back image of both the real and virtual dressing were subsequently collected. The collected images were then evaluated by 20 professional fashion workers who checked the similarity between the real and the virtual versions. The current study found that the similarity between the actual and virtual wearing of the five neckline designs with reality appeared higher with the virtual wearing image using the 3D-scanned body. The results of this study could provide further information on the selection of appropriate avatars to clothing companies that check the fit of clothing by utilizing 3D virtualized programs.

  • Recently, remote work has arisen due to the social atmosphere and advancement of digital technology. Although effective in premeditated communications such as conferences or meetings, the current technology such as messengers and video chats insufficiently supports impromptu communications like a chance encounter, daily conversation with colleagues, or brief instant meetings. This causes various problems such as a decrease in social belonging and an increase in social isolation. The virtual workplace, which emerged as an alternative to this technology, is merely replicating the workplace layouts in reality with an absence of the proper design guideline. Therefore, this paper aims to establish the foundation for the better design of the virtual workplace for remote-work employees. The research compared 12 current workplace cases with the analysis with 5 categories(Spatial Composition, Scale, Individual & Collaboration Workplace, Socializing Space), and discovered the following results: 1) some design principles of the real workplace can be applied on the virtual workplace design, 2) the architectural components of the virtual workplace can differ from them of the real. Based on the results, the research suggests both the appropriate design methodologies of the virtual workplace considering the design principles of the real office layouts, and the design direction for the future of the virtual workplace. This research will be the foundation for the future design of the virtual workplace.

  • Virtual reality technology can be defined as human-computer interface that makes virtual place of specific environments or situation is an interactive computer-generated experience taking place within a simulated environment. In order to combine virtual reality technology of domestic nuclear power industry, the R&D Project has been developing a virtual/augment reality system for nuclear power plant from April 2018 to March 2021. To effectively apply virtual reality technology of domestic nuclear industry, it is necessary to build virtual space similar to real environment. Therefore, This study is analysed 3d model status for nuclear power plant during the life-cycle, and suggested a method to build 3D cad model close to real environment.

  • This study aims to examine for efficient production methods of custom-tailored clothing and application of 3D virtual clothing system in custom-tailored clothing market, by producing and analyzing both real clothing and 3D virtual clothing. For this study, a middle-aged woman is selected as the subject figure and one-piece is selected as the experimental clothes item. In real clothing, I conducted the wearing evaluation for experts and the subject figure. And In the virtual clothing, I conducted the wearing evaluation with i-Designer using 3D virtual clothing on simulation program. There are some differences between the data from body scanning and the real body size. In the custom-tailored clothing market in which the fitness is important, the research which measures the more exact data is needed. And in the case of complicate design, the functions which measure the activity and the fitness variously and correct the parts of curves are needed. This study experiments the availability of application of 3D Virtual Clothing System in custom-tailored clothing market by selecting one-piece as the experimental clothes item. So the follow-up studies for the other designs and fabrics are needed. Also, if the studies for checking the clothes pressure, the amount of composure, the space between skin and clothing when the virtual model wearing clothes is walking or shaking his arms are proceeding, then 3D virtual clothing System is applicable in custom-tailored clothing market. But there are some restrictions and lack of education in virtual clothing System yet, and it makes hard for workers in clothing market to use it in real production. However, 3D virtual clothing System will be practical in real market if there would be more research on its usability and practicality, and workers in clothing market can be easily educated on techniques of 3D virtual clothing system.

  • With the advent of Metaverse, a promising new era for business on virtual reality (VR) platforms has dawned. In this rapidly expanding Metaverse platform, the potential for virtual fashion marketing through avatars is vast, with leading fashion brands already making strides by creating virtual fashion stores or hosting virtual fashion shows. However, the research on fashion-related industries in this newly emerging virtual world platform is still in its infancy. This study sought to identify the relationship between the characteristics of the Metaverse and the factors that influence how the perceived value of virtual fashion products affects purchase intention. A survey was conducted with three hundred Korean respondents, and the hypothesis was verified through analysis using the SPSS statistical program. Our analysis revealed that the sense of presence significantly influences the value of fashion products on the Metaverse platform. As a result, the sense of presence significantly influenced the emotional, visual authority, and economic value of the avatar virtual fashion perceived by users. Second, enjoyment, visual authority, and economic value influence users' intention to purchase virtual fashion items. In addition, all of these perceived value factors were confirmed to have a significant partial mediating effect on the impact of the presence of the Metaverse platform on the purchase intention. Through this study, we empirically analyzed the causal relationship between the characteristics of the Metaverse platform and the virtual fashion experience using avatars - a topic that has yet to be covered. We formed new insights into virtual fashion consumption, providing primary data for related research streams. Our survey respondents consisted only of those with recent Metaverse experience, so the research results were highly effective.

  • The world's sustainable growth is being severely hampered by the inefficient use of water resources. Despite the widely acknowledged importance of trade in global and regional water and food security, societal reliance on local production as well as international trade remains inadequately assessed. Therefore, using South Korea as a case study, this study fills in this research gap by applying the virtual water concept, the logarithmic mean divisia index (LMDI) method, and the Tapio decoupling model. The virtual water concept was used to estimate South Korea's net virtual water trade for major grain crops from 1992 to 2017. Then, the LMDI method was utilized to assess the driving factors causing changes in net virtual water trade. Lastly, the Tapio decoupling model was used to investigate the decoupling relationships between economic growth and the driving factors of net virtual water trade. Results showed that South Korea remains a net importer of virtual water flows with respect to grain crops, with an average import of 16,559.24 million m3 over the study period. In addition, the change in net virtual water trade could be attributed to water intensity effect, product structure effect, economic effect, and population effect. However, water intensity and economic effects were the major decisive factors for decrease and increase in net virtual water trade respectively, while the population and product structure effects had minor positive influences on the net virtual water trade. Furthermore, water intensity and economic growth showed a strong decoupling in most periods, while the decoupling state between product structure and economic growth was observed as expansive negative decoupling. Likewise, population size and economic growth showed a weak decoupling in most periods. The results reveal South Korea's status as it concerns the virtual water trade of grain crops, thus providing valuable insights into the sustainability of trade activities for the management of local water resources.
