The purpose of this study was to develop a Parenting Self-Efficacy Scale for mothers of 5- to 7-year -old preschool children. After 43 items of the preliminary scale were analyzed for their fitness of structure based on the chi-square test and Cramer's V coefficients, and 27 were selected as the final set for the questionnaire. Further factor analysis on these 27 items confirmed the selection of 26 of the 27 items with a four-factor structure : communication, teaching, general parenting self-efficacy, and control. The internal reliability was evaluated to show a confidence level of .92 for the overall items and a range of .70 to .86 for each individual factor.
This study examined the relations of acculturation and parenting behaviors of 279 Korean-Chinese mothers living in Yanbian Area in China to Adjustment of their eighth- and ninth-grade children. The mothers completed a questionnaire consisted of items regarding daily eating habits(food life) and language use, the acculturation scale, and the parenting scale, and their children completed the depression, self-esteem, and social competence scale. While most of mothers preferred Korean food to Chinese food, they preferred Chinese to Korean in daily language use. The mothers'ethnic identity was negatively related to depression of their children, whereas their out-group orientation was positively related to social competence of their children. In general, the relation between mothers'acculturation and adjustment of their children was not mediated by their parenting behaviors. But maternal warmth and acceptance partly mediated the relation between their out-group orientation and social competence of their children. These results imply that their acculturation tends to have direct effects on adjustment of their children.
The purpose of this study was to develop the Family System Diagnosis Scale and to examine its reliability and validity. The subscales of the questionnaire included scores on seven constructs. In order to define constructs accurately, a careful review of Minuchin's writings, the writings of other family therapists, and relevant articles on family interaction was undertaken. A pool of 150 items was given to eight family counselors along with a description of Minuchin' s concepts. The counselors were asked to choose the category each statement fit and to rate the degree of fit using the 3-point scale. Using exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and Linear Structural Relationship(LISREL), six subdimensions of individuation and 55 items of FSDS were identified; enmeshmen disengagement(16 items), parent coalition generational coalition(6 items), flexibility rigidity(5 items), spouse conflict resolved unresolved(8 items), mother-child cohesion estrangement(10 items), father-child cohesion estrangement(10 items). 356 adolescents(ages 13∼18), 356 fathers, 356 mothers in Seoul, Busan, Dague, Incheun, Dajeun, Ulsan, and Kwangju were completed the Family System Diagnosis Scale(FSDS). The reliability of the scale was calculated by Cronbach's a Coefficient and the total a = .94 and the calculation for each factor was .87, .60, .77, .80 and .79 respectively.
The purpose of this study was to examine the maternal separation anxiety depending on the quality of day care and mother's self-esteem. subjects consisted of 187 mothers who had children from 60 t 36 months of age. the instruments used were the questionnaires which consisted of the Maternal separation anxiety scale(Cho and park, 1992), Self-Esteem Inventory(Coopersmith, 1967), and the checklist which consisted of the early childhood environment Rating scale(Harms & Clifford, 1980) and the Family Day Care Rating scale(Harms & Clifford, 1989). The datas were analyzed by the statistical method based o frequency, percentile, t-test, and one-way ANOVA. The main results were as follows : First, there was a significant difference in maternal separation anxiety by mothers' age and not by their educational levels. Second, there were no significant differences in maternal separation anxiety by children's age, sex, and girth order. Third, there was no significant difference in maternal separation anxiety by quality of day 2 care, size of group, and adult-child ratio. Forth, there was a significant differences in maternal separation anxiety by mother's self-esteem.

The data were collected by means of questionnaire distributed to a stratified sample of 544 housewives in Seoul who lived with husband and children. The questionnaires included FACES Ⅱ and Ⅲ, Communication Scale, Managerial behavior Scale and Life Satisfaction Scale. Frequency, percentile, mean, correlation, factor analysis, cluster analysis, One-way ANOVA with Scheffe test, and multiple regression were used to analyze the data. This study had resulted in three major findings. The first was that families were clustered by four types, named structed-separated family, flexible-connected family, change oriented emashed, and rigid-disengaed family. The second finding was that a difference in managerial behavior was found among four types of family. Housewives whose family were more connected each other and adapted more easily to changing situations showed better managerial behavior. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate for the presence of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)-related symptoms, anxiety, and depression after stroke. Eighty-four patients were enrolled between 2 and 12 months after their first ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke. Methods: PTSD symptoms were evaluated using the Impact of Event Scale (IES). The IES is a 15-item scale measuring intrusion and avoidance symptoms. The authors assessed mood alterations using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HAD). The HAD is a brief, 14-item, self-reported questionnaire used to detect symptoms of anxiety (HADA) and depression (HADD). The survey data were analyzed using the SPSS 10.0 program. Frequency, mean, standard deviation, percentage t-test, and Pearson correlation coefficient were determined. Results: Twenty nine of the 84 (34.5%) patients scored higher than the cutoff for PTSD on the IES (IES>26). With use of the HAD scale, 44% of the patients reached the cutoff for anxiety ($HADA\;{\geq}8$). On the HSD scale, 44.1% of the patients reached the cutoff for depression ($HADD\;{\geq}8$). PTSD symptoms and anxiety were more frequent in women under age 39, without spouses, who had operations. Depression was more frequent in patients without spouses. There was a statistically significant correlation among posttraumatic stress symptoms, anxiety, and depression. Conclusion: There was statistically significant correlation among PTSD symptoms, anxiety, and depression in stroke patients. Therefore, it is necessary to develop nursing intervention for stroke patients with these clinical manifestations.
