We have investigated the microstructural properties of a weakly charged polyelectrolyte modeled with both Hookean spring and Debye-Huckel potential, by employing a novel hybrid scheme of molecular dynamics (MD) and Monte Carlo (MC) simulations. Although the off-lattice pivot step facilitates the earlier computations stage, it gives rise to oscillations and hinders the stable equilibrium state. In order to overcome this problem, we adopt the MC off-lattice pivot step in early stage only, and then switch the computation to a pure MD step. The result shows that the computational speed-up compared to the previous method is entirely above 10 to 50, without loss of the accuracy. We examined the conformations of polyelectrolyte in solvents in terms of the end-to-end distance, radius of gyration, and structure factor with variations of the screening effects of solvent and the monomer charges. The emphasis can favorably be given on the elongation behavior of a polyelectrolyte chain, with observing the simultaneous snapshots.
The purpose of this review paper is to briefly describe main the features of novel procedures developed by the National of Standards and Technology (NIST) for the design of tall buildings. Topics considered in the paper include: the division of tasks between wind and structural engineers; the determination of wind effects with specified mean recurrence intervals by accounting for wind directionality; the risk-consistent design of structures subjected to multiple wind hazards; iterative dynamic analyses and member sizing, including the use of modern optimization approaches; and commonalities of and differences between Database-assisted Design (DAD) and Equivalent Static Wind Loads procedures. An example of the application of the DAD procedure is presented for a reinforced concrete structure. Also included in the paper is an introduction to ongoing research on the estimation of wind load factors or of augmented design mean recurrence intervals commensurate with the uncertainties in the factors that determine the wind effects.

An ultra high frequency (UHF) coupler possessing ultra wide band (UWB) characteristics ranging from hundreds of MHz to several GHz is desirable for the detection of the partial discharge (PD) pulses because the pulses propagate with rise time shorter than one nanosecond in a gas-insulated substation (GIS). Thus, the authors have proposed a log-periodic antenna for GIS PD detection. Various parameters of the coupler such as frequency bandwidth, coupler gain, radiation pattern, and coupler geometry were considered throughout the simulations. The experiments for the detection characteristics of the coupler were carried out in the mock-up GIS chamber. The results indicated that the detection characteristics of the coupler are dependent on the installation angle of the coupler, the position of the coupler in the hand hole and the existence of the spacer.
In this paper, we have proposed novel technique to improve maintainability for training vehicle of underwater weapon system. In case of under water weapon, the fire procedure is related with operation of expulsion system in submarines. So the submarine crews should practice the complex fire procedure of weapon system by using training vehicle, which is safer and cheaper than operational weapon. After emitted from submarine, the training vehicle rise to the surface and should be withdrawn from the sea. The recovered training vehicle is transported to maintenance depot and pass through the recycling procedure including disassembling the vehicle, data acquisition & analysis, battery charge, replacing expandable components, testing the captive equipment, and assembling the vehicle. The disassembling & assembling of training vehicle which is composed of watertight section or airframe, is time-consuming work. So in this paper, we have studied the elements of recycling procedure and propose the method to exclude the assembling & disassembling work for maintainability improvement.
With the advent of the recent Fourth Industrial Revolution, efforts are vigorously underway to comprehend the new paradigm of Construction 4.0, following in the footsteps of Industry 4.0, and to establish novel production systems. The necessity and significance of technological advancements in the field of construction automation and robotics, a pivotal component for Construction 4.0, are being emphasized. This paper aims to discuss the concept of construction automation and robotics, encompassing its past, present, and future prospects. Particularly, it reviews the six relevant papers featured in the June 2022 special issue of IJHRB, along with discussions on the integration of cutting-edge ICT technologies and R&D in the realm of automation and robotics. With the progression of ICT technology, the domain of construction automation and robotics is anticipated to play a substantial role in the realization of Construction 4.0 and smart construction through more dynamic convergence in technological development.
Monitoring structures is important to maintain the safety and serviceability of the structures. The maximum displacement in the structure should be precisely and frequently monitored because it is a direct assessment index indicating its stiffness. However, no practical method has been developed to monitor such displacement precisely, particularly for high-rise buildings and long span bridges because they cannot be easily accessible. To overcome such difficult accessibility, we propose to use a LIDAR system that remotely samples the surface of an object using laser pulses and generates the coordinates of numerous points on the surface. By analyzing the LIDAR points sampled from the surfaces of a deformed structure, we can precisely determine the displacement of the structure. In this study, we thus develop a novel method based the LIDAR system and perform an indoor experiment to prove its performance. This experimental results strongly supports that the displacement measurement using the LIDAR system are enough accurate to be used for structural analyses.
Due to the rise in energy consumption and natural resource prices, the demand to improve energy efficiency in the construction machine has been highlighted. Even though many researchers have contributed to the development of the technology, CO2 gas emissions of heavy machinery remains high. One of the most significant problems of the novel excavator with internal combustion engines is the emission of harmful gas. To reduce emissions in the construction machine, it is necessary to replace the internal combustion engines with the alternative one. To overcome those problems, this paper focuses on the adoption of PEMFC hybrid engine for the excavator system. An internal combustion engine is replaced by new structures with fuel cell, battery and ultra capacitor. The proposed system has been designed and modeled using Simcenter Amesim software and compared with the conventional one through simulation results.
With the steady rise in global popularity of the Korean music group BTS, the South Korean government and surrounding industries have swiftly begun utilizing their image and international recognition for specific nation branding purposes. While K-pop soft power strategies are not novel to the South Korean state, what is new is the rapid speed at which BTS have become a beacon for South Korean culture, language, and symbolism in the international arena. However, few scholarly works have sought to investigate the role fans have played in this heightened position for the group as state representatives, with minimal research conducted into the work fans do within the framework of ARMY fan culture. This paper will thus aim to fill the gap in scholarship on ARMY as an organized labour network, focusing on the role fans play as labourers in online spaces that work to promote, disseminate, and cultivate wider recognition for BTS as artists. Through the conjunct engagement of a political economy framework and theories of participatory culture, this paper will explore the manner through which the free labour of ARMY, premised on affect, has constructed the fandom as active agents of soft power alongside BTS themselves.
For efficient transmission of 3DTV video signals, it is necessary to eliminate the inherent redundancy between the stereo image pairs. Though disparity estimation provides a powerful tool for eliminating the redundancy, it is very time consuming. This paper presents a novel disparity estimation scheme based on the human visual property. The disparity vectors of image blocks spatially adjacent to the current block are used as initial guesses fur the disparity vector of the current block. In addition, mixed-resolution coding is applied to reduce the computational complexity of disparity estimation. Through computer simulations on a stereoscopic sequence we show that the proposed method gives rise .to visually pleasing results with much reduced computational complexity.

Due to the rapidly growing number of resistant strains of bacteria, the search for antibacterial agents with new modes of action will always remain an important and challenging task. Thus, the reaction of 2-substituted or. unsubstituted-4-(4-acetylanilino)-5,6,7,8-terahydrobenzo[b] thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidine derivatives 1-3 with the hydrazine derivatives, semi and / or thiosemi-carbazides, provided the corresponding hydrazones 4-6 and semi and/or thiosemicarbazones 7-9. Claisen-Schmidt condensation of compounds 1 or 2 with the appropriate aldehyde yielded the chalcones 10, 11 which, when treated with hydroxylamine hydrochloride gave rise to the isoxazoline-containing compounds 12, 13. Furthermore, reacting the respective chalcones 10, 11 with different hydrazines, urea and/or thiourea, furnished compounds 14, 15, 16, and 17 respectively. Representative compounds were tested for their antimicrobial activity against Candida Albicans and certain gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Their MICs were then determined. Compound 15e, showed a broad spectrum of activity while most of the other com-pounds showed varying antimicrobial activity.
