The purpose of the current study was comparative analysis of autonomic and electrocortical responses to passive and active touch of the tektites with different subjective emotional preference. Perspective goal of the project is development of a template for classification of tactile stimuli according to subjective comfort and associated physiological manifestations. The study was carried out on 36 female college students. Physiological signals were acquired by Grass and B10PAC 100 systems with AcqKnowledge III software. Frontal, parietal and occipital EEG (relative power spectrum /percents/ of EEG bands - delta, theta, slow and fast alpha, low and fast beta), and autonomic variables, namely heart rate (HR), respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA), pulse transit time (PTT), respiration rate (RSP) and skin conductance parameters (SCL, amplitude, rise time and number of SCRs) were analyzed for rest baseline and stimulation conditions. Analysis of the overall pattern of reaction indicated that autonomic response to tactile stimulation was manifested in a form of moderate HR acceleration, RSP increase, RSA decrease (lowered vagal tone), decreased n and increased electrodermal activity (increased SCL, several SCRs) that reflects general sympathetic activation. Parietal EEG effects (on contra-lateral side to stimulated hand) were featured by short-term alpha-blocking, slightly reduced theta and significantly increased delta and enhanced fast beta activity with few variations across stimuli. The main finding of the study was that most and least preferred textures exhibited significant differences in autonomic (HR, RSP, PTT, SCR, and at less extent in RSA and SCL) and electrocortical responses (delta, slow and fast alpha, fast beta relative power). These differences were recorded both in passive and active stimulation modes, thus demonstrating reproducibility of distinction between most and least emotionally preferred tactile stimuli, suggesting influence of psychological factors, such as emotional property of stimulus, on physiological outcome. Nevertheless, development of sufficiently sensitive .and reliable template for classification of emotional responses to tactile stimulation based on physiological response pattern may require more extensive empirical database.
A special eosinophilic agarase exo-type ${\beta}$-agarase gene, AgaDL6, was cloned from a marine agar-degrading bacterium, Flammeovirga sp. HQM9. The gene comprised 1,383-bp nucleotides encoding a putative agarase AgaDL6 of 461 amino acids with a calculated molecular mass of 52.8 kDa. Sequence analysis revealed a ${\beta}$-agarase domain that belongs to the glycoside hydrolase family (GH) 16 and a carbohydrate-binding module (CBM_4_9) unique to agarases. AgaDL6 was heterologously expressed in Escherichia coli BL21 (DE3). Enzyme activity analysis of the purified protein showed that the optimal temperature and pH of AgaDL6 were $50^{\circ}C$ and 3.0, respectively. AgaDL6 showed thermal stability by retaining more than 98% of activity after incubation for 2 h at $50^{\circ}C$, a feature quite different from other agarases. AgaDL6 also exhibited outstanding acid stability, retaining 100% of activity after incubation for 24 h at pH 2.0 to 5.0, a property distinct from other agarases. This is the first agarase characterized to have such high acid stability. In addition, we observed no obvious stimulation or inhibition of AgaDL6 in the presence of various metal ions and denaturants. AgaDL6 is an exo-type ${\beta}$-1,4 agarase that cleaved agarose into neoagarotetraose and neoagarohexaose as the final products. These characteristics make AgaDL6 a potentially valuable enzyme in the cosmetic, food, and pharmaceutical industries.

This study reports the analgesic, anti-inflammatory and membrane-stabilizing property of alcoholic extract of Ophiorrhiza nicobarica (ON), a wild herb, used as an anti-infective ethnomedicine of Nicobarese and Shompen tribes of Great Nicobar Island, India. We for the first time investigated the analgesic and antiinflammatory potential of this herb in acute, subacute and chronic model of inflammation in Swiss albino mice and Wistar albino rats, along with sheep RBC-induced sensitivity and membrane stabilization. The acetic acid induced writhing, tail flick and tail immersion tests are used as a model for evaluating analgesic activity; while the carrageenin-induced paw oedema was used as the model for acute inflammation, dextran-induced oedema as sub-acute and cotton-pellateinduced granuloma as chronic inflammatory model. The probable mode by which ON mediate its effect on inflammatory conditions was studied on sheep RBC-induced sensitivity and membrane stabilization. The in vitro results revealed that the ON extract possesses significant (P < 0.05) dose dependent analgesic and antiinflammatory activity at 200 and 300 mg/kg and its fractions at 50 mg/kg, p.o. respectively, compared to the control groups. However, the extract failed to exhibit membrane-stabilizing property as it unable to reduce the level of haemolysis of RBC exposed to hypotonic solution. The acute toxicity studies of ON extract in rats and mice revealed that the extract was nontoxic even up to 3.0 g/kg body weight of the animals, with a high safety profile. We have isolated ursolic acid, ${\beta}$-sitosterol and harmaline respectively, from the bioactive part of the extract. The results indicated that the O. nicobarica is indeed beneficial in primary health care, and suggest that its anti-inflammatory activity may not be related to membrane-stabilization.
Cattle breeds have a striking effect on milk, including milk composition and technological characteristics. This study aims to compare milk composition, acidification activity, viscosity, milk dispersion system stability and casein molecular weight among three buffalo breeds in China. The technological characteristics of milk produced by three cattle breeds of river buffalo (Murrah), crossbreed 1st generation ($F_1$), crossbreed multiple generation ($F_H$, $H{\geq}3$) buffaloes were investigated. Cattle breeds showed evident effect on milk protein, fat and total solids content, but little effect on most of buffalo casein molecular weight. Milk fat, protein content and the viscosity of buffalo milk from river buffalo were lower than those of $F_1$ and $F_H$, so was the buffer capacity. The viscosity was negatively correlated to temperature and concentration. Results of stability coefficient showed that milk dispersion system had the best dynamic stability characteristics under pH 6.6 and 6 times dilution, while zeta potential of Murrah milk was slightly higher than that of hybrid offspring ($F_1$, $F_H$). SDS-PAGE results showed that buffalo ${\alpha}_s$-casein had a slightly faster mobility than standard ${\alpha}_s$-casein; while buffalo ${\beta}$-casein showed a slightly slower mobility than standard ${\beta}$-casein. There is no clear differences in molecular weight of ${\alpha}_s$-, ${\beta}$-, and ${\kappa}$-casein among Murrah, $F_1$ and $F_H$.

A dinuclear copper(II) complex of [$Cu_2(aceace)_4$(dipyph)] [aceace = acetylacetone, dipyph = 1,4-di(4-pyridylethene-2-yl-)benzene] has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and X-ray single crystal diffraction. It crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P21/c, with lattice parameters a = 7.9584(16) $\AA$, b = 18.594(4) $\AA$, c = 15.063(4) $\AA$$\beta=120.97(2)^o$ and $M_r$ = 807.85 ($C_{40}H_{44}Cu_2N_2O_8$), Z = 2. Each of the $Cu^{2+}$ ion adopts a square pyramid geometry and coordinates with four oxygen atoms from two aceace ligands and one nitrogen atom from dipyph bidentate ligand. Magnetic measurement shows that the Weiss constant and Curie constant for the title compound are -0.22 K and 0.1154 emu K/mol, respectively. Thermal stability data indicate that the title complex undergoes two steps decomposition and the residue is $Cu_2O_4$. In the potential range of -1.5 ~ 0.8 V, the title complex represents an irreversible electrochemical process.

In this study, Liquid Phase Sintered SiC (LPS-SiC) was fabricated by hot pressing method with $\beta$-SiC powder whose a particle size is 30nm and less on the average in argon condition at 1780 and $1800^{\circ}C$ under 20MPa. Alumina ($Al_2O_3$), yttria ($Y_2O_3$) and silica ($SiO_2$) were used for sintering additives. To investigate effects of particle-size and temperature on $SiO_2$, LPS-SiC was fixed $Al_2O_3$, $Y_2O_3$ and then particle-size of $SiO_2$ were changed as two kinds. The system of particle-size and temperature on sintering additives which affects a property of sintering os well os the influence depending on particle-size and temperature of sintering additives were investigated by measurement of sintering properties. Such as measurement of sintering density, vikers hardness and observing of microstructure were investigated to make sure of the optimum condition which is about matrix of $SiC_f/SiC$ composites. Base on the composition of sintering additives, microstructure and sintering property correlation, the effect of particle-size of sintering additives are discussed. An experimental method to investigate the dynamic characteristics of bums in extreme environmental condition is established.

Compound semiconductor/CNTs composites have shown considerably improved efficiency improvement in photovoltaic devices, which is often attributed to two different factors. One is the formation of efficient electronic energy cascade structures. The other effect of CNTs on the performance of photovoltaic devices is the decrement of interfacial resistance. The interfacial resistances at n-type/ p-type materials and/or n-type materials/TCO electrode are reduced by an outstanding electrical property of CNTs. In addition to the effects of CNTs, we report the third reason for increment of efficiency in photovoltaic devices by CNT's well-known electrical field enhancement effects. The improved ${\beta}$ values in reverse-FE currents of CIGS electrode with SWNTs layers indicate the enhancement of electrical field in photovoltaic devices, which implies the acceleration of the electron transfer rate in the cell. Due to the formation of an efficient electronic energy cascade structure and the decrease of the interfacial resistance as well as the improvement of the electrical field in the photovoltaic devices, the power conversion efficiency of electrochemically deposited superstrate-type CIGS solar cells was increased 24.3% in the presence of SWNTs and showed 10.40% conversion efficiency.
The 3$\mu\textrm{m}$-thick PVDF (Polyvinyiidene fluoride) thin film have been prepared using physical vapor deposition with electric field, and its FT-IR specrum, dielectric property and electric conduction phenomenon have been investigated. Since the characteristic peaks ate detected at 509.45 and 1273.6〔cm〕 in the FT-IR spectrum, we are confirmed that the ${\beta}$ -phase is dominant in the PVDF thin film. In the results of dielectric properties, the PVDF thin film shows anomalous dispersion, i.e. gradual decrease of dielectric constant with increase of frequency, and also that the dielectric absorption point changes from 200Hz to 7000Hz with increasing temperature of thin film, which is consistent with the Debye's theory. The activation energy (ΔH) obtained from temperature dependence of dielectric loss is 21.64 ㎉/㏖. We confirm that the electric conduction mechanism of PVDF thin film is dominated by ionic conduction by investigating the dependence of the leakage current of the thin film on the temperature and the electric field.

The physicochemical properties and cooking qualities of six cultivars of covered barley, four malting barley and six naked barley were investigated. The 1, 000 kernel weight was heavier in the malting barley and ash content was the highest in covered barley. The varietal variation of amylose content was 17.7 to 20.2%. $\beta$-Glucan viscosity was generally lower in the malting barely, and varied greatly among barley cutivars with 2.16 to 8.47 cSt. The pearling rate was highest in naked barley with a mean of 75.5% and protein content of aw and pearled barely was significantly different with cultivars. In the cultivars tested, Doosan 8, Youngsan and Iri 5 showed the higher milling rate. Amylose patterns showed that the covered barley cultivars has lower gelatinization temperature and higher peak height and height at 50 $^{\circ}C$ than the malting and naked barley. The water absorptions were highest in covered barley cultivars , and lowest in naked barley cultivars. The soluble solid was highest in naked barley cultivars.
Sublimatographic study on the method of test for sulfur in the petroleum and rubber products was as following results: (1) The relation between the heating temperature$(t_h)$ and the vacuum condensing point(V.C.P.) of sulfur at different degree of vacuum appeared as Fig.4. The results were in good agreement with those expected from the $t_h-V.C.P$ curves of sublimatographic separation of sulfur. (2) The relation between the degree of vacuum and the V.C.P. at different heating temperature of sulfur appeared as follows; $$tv.c.p.=\alpha+{\beta}logP_{va}$$ (3) The V.C.P of sulfur could be physical property comparing with melting point and boiling point. (4) The relation between the V.C.P. and the quantity of sublimation of sulfur becomes quantitative as Fig.7.
