The solar cells should be operated at the maximum power point because its output characteristics are greatly fluctuate on the variations of insolation, temperature and loads. To obtain maximum power from solar cell, photovoltaic system cell power system usually requires maximum power point tracking controller. This paper propose Maximum power point tracking method using zero slope of differential value of maximum power. The power compare method traces to maximum power point rapidly but oscillate on the maximum power point largely, when quantity insolation variation is big. The power compare method is traces to maximum power point slowly but oscillate maximum point on the maximum power point smally, when quantity insolation variation is small. To solve two problem of the power compare method, designed zero slope of differential value of maximum power.
The modem enormous electric power system has made power system analysis much more complex and difficult. For effective analysis of the power system, model reduction and aggregation is required. In this paper, a new aggregation method is presented to aggregate the coherent generators in the large scale power system while matching the power flow. In order to demonstrate the effects of this aggregation method, it is applied to a small scale power system. A multi-variable control technique of $H_{\infty}$ control is also applied to enhance the dynamic stability of the aggregated power system.

A grid-connected inverter with critical loads uses mode transfer control to supply stable voltage to the load. An islanding detection method should also be used to quickly detect the grid fault and disconnect the inverter from the grid. However using the existing islanding detection method to detect islanding is difficult due to the small fluctuation of the voltage and frequency of the point of common coupling. This study proposes a reactive power P&O islanding detection method by using the positive feedback technique. The proposed method always injects a small variation of reactive power. When a grid fault occurs, the injected reactive power accelerates the reactive power injection reference. As a result, the reactive power reference value and the sensed reactive power become mismatched, and islanding is detected. Reducing the amount of real-time injected reactive power results in high efficiency and power factor. The simulation and experimental results of a 3 kW single-phase inverter are provided to verify the proposed islanding detection method.

An input power estimation method of a three-phase inverter for the high-efficiency operation of AC motors is proposed. Measuring devices, such as DC link voltage and input current sensors, are required to obtain the input power of the inverter. In the proposed method, the input power of the inverter can be estimated without the input current sensor by using the phase current information of the AC motor and the switching pattern of the inverter. The proposed method is more robust to parameter error than conventional method. The validity of the input power estimation method is verified through experiments conducted on a 1 kW permanent-magnet synchronous motor drive system.

This paper presents a new approach for evaluating the transmission marginal loss factors (MLFs) considering the reactive power. Generally, MLFs are represented as the sensitivity of transmission losses, which is computed from the change of the generation at reference bus by the change of the load at the arbitrary bus-i. The conventional evaluation method for MLFs uses the only H matrix, which is a part of jacobian matrix. Therefore, the MLFs computed by the existing method, don't consider the effect of the reactive power, although the transmission losses are a function of the reactive power as well as the active power. To compensate the limits of the existing method for evaluating MLFs, the power factor at the bus-i is introduced for reflecting the effect of the reactive power in the evaluation method of the MLFs. Also, MLFs calculated by the developed method are applied to energy spot markets to reflect the impacts of reactive power. This method is tested with the sample system with 5-bus, and analyzed how much MLFs have an effect on the bidding/offer price, market clearing price(MCP), and settlement in the competitive energy spot market. This paper compared the results of MLFs calculated by the existing and proposed method for the IEEE 14-bus system, and the KEPCO system.

In many countries, the electric power industry is undergoing significant changes known as deregulation and restructuring. These alterations introduce competition in generation and retail and require open access to the transmission network. The competition of the electric power industry causes many issues to surface. Among them, unbundling of the transmission service is probably the most complicated as it is a single and integrated sector and the transmission revenue requirement must be allocated to market participants in a fair way. In these situations, it is valuable to research the methodologies to allocate transmission usage. The power tracing method offers useful information such as which generators supply a particular load or how much each generator (load) uses a particular transmission line. With this information, we can allocate required transmission revenue to market participants. Recently, several algorithms were proposed for tracing power flow but there is no dominant power tracing method. This paper proposes a power tracing method based on graph theory and complex-current distribution. For practicability, the proposed method for transmission usage allocation is applied to IEEE 30 buses and compared with the method proposed by Felix F.Wu.
The power flow calculations are the most important and powerful tools in the various studies of power system engineering. Newton-Raphson method, among the various power flow calculation techniques, is normally used due to its rapidness of numerical convergency. In the conventional Newton-Raphson method, however, there are some unrealistic assumptions, in which all the system power losses are considered to be supplied by the slack bus generator. Introducing the system power loss formula and augmenting the conventional Newton-Raphson power flow method, we can relieve the unrealistic assumption and improve the performance of power flow calculation. In this study, A new approach for handling the losses and augmenting the conventional power flow problem is proposed. The proposed method estimates the increamental changes of active power on each generation bus with respect to the change of total system power losses and the estimated value are used to update the slack bus power. If some studies for more theoritical investigations and verifications are followed, the proposed approach will show some improvement of the conventional method and give lots of contribution to increase the performance of power flow techniques in power systems engineering.

GPU computing is emerging in high performance application area since it can easily exploit massive parallelism in a way of cost-effective computing. The power method which finds the eigen vector of a given matrix is widely used in various applications such as PageRank for calculating importance of web pages. In this research we made the power method efficiently parallelized on GPU and also suggested how it can be improved to enhance its performance. The power method mainly consists of matrix-vector product and it can be easily parallelized. However, it should decide the convergence of the eigen vector and need scaling of the vector subsequently. Such operations incur several calls to GPU kernels and data movement between host and GPU memories. We improved the performance of the power method by means of reduced calls to GPU kernels, optimized thread allocation and enhanced decision operation for the convergence.
A dP/dV feedback-controlled MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) method for photovoltaic power systems using II-SEPIC (Isolated Inverse-SEPIC; Single Ended Primary Inductance Converter) is presented and a current-mode dP/dV feedback-controlled MPPT method is devised to apply for the PV power converter system. A control strategy for the current-mode dP/dV feedback control system is developed in this paper and the proposed MPPT shows relatively satisfactory dynamics against rapidly changing insolation conditions. In order to verify the validity and effectiveness of the proposed method, simulations and experiments of the PV power system using II-SEPlC converter are performed. These simulation and experiment results show that the proposed method enables the PV power system to extract maximum power from the photovoltaic module against the solar insolation variation.
