고통(suffering)과 영적접근 (Suffering and Spiritual Approach)

  • Although the general concept of suffering care includes palliative care technology for terminally ill person to alleviate his pain, it is much more holistic including emotional, spiritual and other life dimension. This inclusive concept of caring can be possible with the fundamental reflection on the human suffering. Far from the concept of pain understood in the context of materialist medical approach, human suffering has many dimensions including aesthetic, psychological, and religious: its meaning is holistic. With this perspective, the experience of the suffering client must be reconsidered before one starts with an objective side or a subjective side of suffering. Indeed, the actual strategies of suffering care can be different depending on the definition of human suffering accepted by practicians. In this caring perspective, the body, mind and spirit are integrated so the objectivity and subjectivity can merge; the extended awareness with inner resource or energy, and the positive thinking about the God is meaningful especially for dying person, his family members and the caring team. Despite this impending importance of the inclusive understanding of human suffering, the actual nursing practice still does not reflect this growing understanding of human suffering. This approach, which tried to pursuit the more fundamental meaning of human suffering, can contribute to the development of nursing education and practice which pay attention to the more inclusive view of human suffering.

성인의 건강개념과 건강행위에 대한 서술적 연구 (Exploratory Study of The Korean Health Concept and Health Behaviors)

  • People experience health behaviors for themselves and theses have diversity according to each culture and people and further there is an inherent meaning in health behavior The purpose of this study was to explore the health cconcept of Korean people and their pattern of health behavior The research method was a questionaire including open questions and the subjests were 164 adults age from 21 to 61. The result of this study are as follows : 1. Perceived health concepts by adults were “possibility”, “responsibility”, “being free”, “happiness”, “brightness”, “power”, “life”, “importance”, “mental rest”, “state of nnonilliness”, “death” 2. Health behaviors carried out by Korean adults were “maintance of psychological comfort”, “exercise”, “work”, “maintance of balanced diet”, “having a hobby”, “eating health food”, “health check up”, “prevention of hazards”, “eating natural food”, “maintenance of personal relationships”, “rest”, “having religion”, “making contract with nature”, “relaxation”, “limit one’s tastes”. 3. The perceived purposes of health behavior by Koran adults were maintenance of a joyful life, health maintenance, health restoration, prevention of illness, achievement of reponsibility, haying a hobby, longevity, peaceful death. Korean health concepts in this study showed a trend that reflects the rule of family and forcused harmony and eating habits. Korean health behavior in this study showed a trend that forcuses on emotional comfort which reflects oriental thinking. The result of this study will contribute to build a theory of health behavior and to derive strategies of health behavior to promote health.

롤랑 바르트의 텍스트로 본 렘 콜하스, SANAA, 소우 후지모토 건축의 특성 (A Study on the Works of Rem Koolhaas, SANAA, Sou Fujimoto through the Text of Roland Barthes)

  • The semiotics philosopher Roland Barthes declared 'the death of the author'. This means a sense of skepticism about author-centered writing in literature, and that readers and critics must also change their reading attitudes. In architecture, too, author-centered design appears. Architects sometimes try to express their will and concepts strongly through their work. However, this architecture is oriented toward identity, self-revealing, self-centered, and eventually without inspiration. On the other hand, the signifier does not result in a single meaning, and it is architecture as text that allows readers to enjoy the pleasure of deciphering. The purpose of this study is to investigate that unilateral by the will of the architect. Or whether there is a potential for non-intelligence and the possibility of generating meaning. In particular, we will analyze the works of Rem Koolhaas, SANAA and Sou Fujimoto to see if they are free from the will of the architect and can obtain the user's true freedom. As a result, we want to reveal the potential of various interpretations by users in contemporary architecture.

Wilde the "Pervert": Oscar and Transnational (Roman Catholic) Religion

  • In late Victorian England, a "pervert" meant two things. One meaning designated a person who "turned" or converted from one sect of Christianity to another. In Wilde's time this referred specifically to converts from the established state Church of England to the transnational Roman Catholic Church. The other, newer meaning designated someone who turned from conventional heterosexual relations to a (as yet unnamed) homosexual orientation. In the context of the late Victorian empire, both were considered dangerous. The rising social and political influence of Roman Catholicism appeared threatening as a transnational Church invading a national one. For the Anglican Church of England, this crisis was played out what came to be known as the Oxford Movement, still influential during Wilde's time as a student there from 1874 to 1878. What is interesting in Wilde's life, as in his work, is the way he himself played with the dangerous transgressions inherent in being a "pervert." Sexually, he was converted to same-sex love while still a married man. In terms of religion, he remained fascinated with Catholicism, allegedly converting on his death-bed. But what is provocative is way that Wilde used one "perversion" to play into another: so that in such works as The Picture of Dorian Gray and Salome, his version of a kind of anti-Catholic Catholicism becomes a site of sexual desire, and sexual desire expression for that kind of spirituality, which, as unrequited longing, can ultimately n find no object adequate to its imagination.

히로시 스기모토의 사진작품에 드러나는 무한성의 건축적 발현에 대한 연구 (Architectural Manifestation of Hiroshi Sugimoto's Photographic Infinity)

  • The objective of this research is to investigate the artistic meaning of "infinity," manifested by the fourth dimensional value in the genres of photography and architecture, by analyzing how Sugimoto Hiroshi's photographic spatio-temporal infinity transfers to his architectural approaches. The research is initiated by scrutinizing the themes, characteristics, techniques, and artistic meaning of Sugimoto's famous photographic series, including "Seascapes," "Theatres," and "Architecture"; the concept of infinity can be defined as infinite divergence and infinitesimal convergence between antithetical concepts in time, space, and being. Sugimoto's photographic works display "temporal infinity" by connecting ancient times, the present, and the future; "spatial infinity" by offering the potential for transformation from flat photographs into infinite three-dimensional space and fourth-dimensional concepts through time; and "existential infinity" of life and death by making us think about being and essence, being and time, and origin and religion. These perspectives are also used to analyze Sugimoto's architectural works, such as "Appropriate Proportion" and "Glass Tea House Mondrian." As a result, the research finds that in Sugimoto's architectural approaches, spatio-temporal infinity between antithetical values is manifested through the concept of origin, geometric form, extended axis, immaterial threshold, transparent materiality, and connectivity of light and shadow, provoking our existence to transcend into infinity itself.

  • The Purpose of this study is to examine the inner symbolic meaning of the revenge movies, forcing on , , by producer Chan-Wook Park. This study was analyzed with theoretical frames of Greimas's and Lacan's desire theory. The results of this study is as follows: Main characters of these films were tangled each their with love, desire, angry, hate and revenge. They also had desires and needs of revenge caused by deficiency. These films represented blue as sorrow, depression, frigidness, loneliness and deficiency, red as love, desire, angry, hate and revenge, black as strong will, till-eat, death, violence and bloody-mindedness and white as forgiveness, expiation and salvation. The function of colors in conveying meaning was very effected to analyzing the visual power implications and psychological effects on human feelings that colors have in the movie.

Art Therapy in Patients with Terminal Cancer and Their Families: A Multiple Case Study

  • Purpose: The study explored the meaning of experiences within a family art therapy process among terminal cancer patients and their families. Methods: Ten participants, including four terminal cancer patients currently admitted to the hospice ward at an inpatient hospice facility in S City and four caregiving family members, engaged in four cycles of family art therapy sessions. The sessions were conducted weekly or bi-weekly, and each lasted approximately 50 minutes. Results: Nine cross-case themes emerged: "feeling unfamiliar and intimidated by the idea of expressing my thoughts through art," "trying to accept the present and positively overcome sadness," "expressing hope through emotional bonds during the process of parting," "conveying and preserving personal and family beliefs," "feeling upset about family imbalances caused by deteriorating health," "valuing togetherness and striving for stability amidst the current challenges," "art as a medium of empowerment for patients and facilitator of family conversations, even amidst difficulties," "sharing a range of emotions-not just joy, but concerns and sorrow-through art," and "gratitude for art' s role in improving family communication and connection through artwork. Conclusion: The findings of this study lead to several conclusions. First, patients and their families faced psychological challenges when confronted with impending death, yet they strove to remain optimistic by seeking meaning in their struggles. Second, families practiced open and expressive communication, sharing a spectrum of complex emotions with one another. Third, even as the patient's condition worsened, resulting in family fatigue, their support and cohesion strengthened.

노인의 웰다잉 교육 요구도에 관한 예비조사연구 (A Study on Dying Well Education Needs of the Elderly People)

  • 본 연구는 65세 이상 노인을 대상으로 가족의 죽음 경험 유무에 따라 원하는 웰다잉 교육요구도를 알아보기 위한 예비조사, 서술연구이다. 본 연구 결과 가족의 죽음 경험 유무와 상관없이 모두 웰다잉 교육이 필요하다고 응답하였으며, 웰다잉 교육경험에 대해서는 가족의 죽음 경험이 있는 그룹이 71.8%, 없는 그룹이 40.0%로 나타났다. 또한 웰다잉 교육내용에 있어서 두 그룹 모두 '죽음의 의미와 삶의 가치'가 필요하다고 응답하였다. 이 외에 가족 죽음의 경험이 있는 그룹은 '가족 및 친구의 죽음 시 슬픔을 극복하는 방법', '장기 혹은 시신 기증 절차에 관한 정보' 가 교육내용에 포함되었으면 좋겠다는 의견이 있었으나, 가족 죽음 경험이 없는 그룹에서는 이와 관련된 교육내용에 대한 요구도는 없는 것으로 나타났다. 웰다잉 교육기간 또한 두 그룹 모두 1주일이 적절하다고 응답하였으며, 웰다잉 교육 방법에 있어서는 두 그룹 모두 강의 및 토의가 가장 높았다. 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 추후, 웰다잉 교육을 진행시에는 일회성이 아닌 지속가능한 교육이 필요하며, 노인 뿐 아니라 가족이 함께 참여할 수 있는 교육이 필요할 것이다.

자기조직화지도와 GIS를 이용한 다차원 공중보건자료의 탐구적 분석 (Exploring Multidimensional Public Health Data Using Self Organizing Map and GIS)

  • 본 연구에서는 2005년에서 2010년까지의 통계청 남성암 유형별 연령표준화 시군구 사망률 데이터에 대해 자기조직화지도와 GIS를 이용한 탐구적 자료 분석을 수행하여 이들 데이터에 의미 있는 패턴이 내재되어 있는지 분석하였다. 그리고 지역의 사회경제적 수준을 대표하는 변수로 선정된 지역별 가구주의 교육수준과 분석된 패턴이 어떤 관련이 있는지 검토하였다. 분석결과 우리나라 시군구는 남성암 사망원인 측면에서 독특한 특성을 가진 18개의 지역 군집으로 구분될 수 있으며, 이들 군집 내 속한 시군구가 공간적으로도 군집되는 경향이 있음을 보여주었다. 또한 가구주의 교육수준이 높은 군집이 낮은 군집에 비해 남성암 사망률이 낮은 경향을 보이지만 일부 암의 경우 교육수준이 높은 군집에서 사망률이 높음을 보여주었다. 이 결과는 지역의 사회경제적 요인, 자연환경적 요인 등 암의 발생 및 관리에 영향을 미치는 지역적 요인에 양의 공간적 자기상관이 존재하며, 이러한 공간적 자기상관이 다양한 유형의 암 원인 사망에 영향을 미친 결과로 해석되어질 수 있다. 또한 18개의 군집 중 서울의 강남구 및 서초구를 포함한 군집은 대부분 유형의 암 원인 사망률에서 전체 18개 군집 중 하위 수준임을 보여 우리나라 암의 예방, 발생, 관리와 관련된 중요원인이 사회경제적 요인일 수 있음을 암시하였다.

웰다잉 프로그램이 노인의 삶의 의미, 자기효능감 및 성공적 노화에 미치는 효과 (Efficacy of Well-dying Program for Meaning of life, Self-efficiency, and Successive aging in the Elderly)

  • 본 연구는 노인복지관을 이용하는 65세 이상의 노인을 대상으로 웰다잉 프로그램을 적용하여 삶의 의미, 자기 효능감 및 성공적 노화에 효과가 있는지 알아보고자 한다. 방법: 웰다잉 프로그램 교육은 주1회에 120분씩 8주 동안 8회기에 걸쳐서 이루어진 비동등성 대조군 전후 실험설계이다. 자료 분석은 ${\chi}^2$-test, Mann-Whitney U test, Wilcoxon rank test로 분석하였다. 결과: 웰다잉 프로그램 교육을 받기 전보다 받은 후에 노인의 삶의 의미, 자기효능감 및 성공적 노화에 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 결론: 웰다잉 프로그램은 노인들의의 삶의 의미, 자기효능감, 성공적노화에 긍정적인 효과를 주는 것으로 나타나 노인들이 자신의 죽음에 대해 의미 부여와 함께 올바른 죽음에 대한 가치관 정립에 도움을 주며 삶을 행복하게 유지 할 수 있는 올바른 인식 함양을 돕는 유용한 교육으로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 이러한 연구 결과를 통해 노인들에게 필요한 웰다잉 프로그램 개발 빛 적용 관리가 체계적이고 지속적으로 이루어져야 할 것으로 사료된다.
