Scaling Factor Design Based Variable Step Size Incremental Resistance Maximum Power Point Tracking for PV Systems

  • Variable step size maximum power point trackers (MPPTs) are widely used in photovoltaic (PV) systems to extract the peak array power which depends on solar irradiation and array temperature. One essential factor which judges system dynamics and steady state performances is the scaling factor (N), which is used to update the controlling equation in the tracking algorithm to determine a new duty cycle. This paper proposes a novel stability study of variable step size incremental resistance maximum power point tracking (INR MPPT). The main contribution of this analysis appears when developing the overall small signal model of the PV system. Therefore, by using linear control theory, the boundary value of the scaling factor can be determined. The theoretical analysis and the design principle of the proposed stability analysis have been validated using MATLAB simulations, and experimentally using a fixed point digital signal processor (TMS320F2808).

  • This paper proposes a new two-stage Z-source converter (TSZC). The purpose of the proposed system is to obtain the ac voltage with a maximum boost voltage for fuel cell applications as a renewable energy source. In order to provide a continuous current path, a switching strategy for the dc-ac ZSI and ac-ac ZSC of the proposed system was used. The operation principle, analysis and simulation results of 1.2 kW fuel cell stack were also presented.

Wind induced vibrations of long electrical overhead transmission line spans: a modified approach

  • For estimating the vortex excited vibrations of overhead transmission lines, the Energy Balance Principle (EBP) is well established for spans damped near the ends. Although it involves radical simplifications, the method is known to give useful estimates of the maximum vibration levels. For very long spans, there often is the need for a large number of in-span fittings, such as in-span Stockbridge dampers, aircraft warning spheres etc. This adds complexity to the problem and makes the energy balance principle in its original form unsuitable. In this paper, a modified version of EBP is described taking into account in-span damping and in particular also aircraft warning spheres. In the first step the complex transcendental eigenvalue problem is solved for the conductor with in-span fittings. With the thus determined complex eigenvalues and eigenfunctions a modified energy balance principle is then used for scaling the amplitudes of vibrations at each resonance frequency. Bending strains are then estimated at the critical points of the conductor. The approach has been used by the authors for studying the influence of in-span Stockbridge dampers and aircraft warning spheres; and for optimizing their positions in the span. The modeling of the aircraft warning sphere is also described in some detail.

  • 경찰은 위험방지의 영역에 있어서 경찰권을 발동할 책무를 가지지만, 위험방지를 위해 개입을 하여야만 하는지의 여부, 어떠한 개입 및 어느 정도의 개입을 하여야만 하는가에 관하여 재량에 의하여 결정할 수 있다. 그러한 재량에 따른 경찰의 조치는 침해적인 명령 강제를 내용으로 하기 때문에 국민의 권리를 침해하기 마련이다. 따라서 경찰권의 발동에는 법치주의의 원리에 따른 법률유보의 원칙에 따라 필연적으로 법적 통제장치가 따라야 찬다. 본 연구는 경찰작용의 통제법리로서 경찰권 발동의 한계를 중심으로 공공의 안녕과 질서를 유지하면서도 국민의 자유와 권리를 최대한 보장할 수 있는 합리적인 방안을 강구하여 경찰작용의 바람직한 방향을 모색하고자 한다.

  • This Paper deals with an applicatoin of Luenberger Observer to the Linear Stochastic Systems. The basic technique is the use of a matrix version of the Maximum Principle of Pontryagin coupled with the use of gradient matrices to derive the gain matix for minimum error covariance. The optimal observer which is derived turns out to be identical to the well-known Kalman-Bucy Filter.

  • In this paper we apply the maximum principle to design of time optimal nonlinear sampled-data control systems. We introduce the general design procedures and the mathematical formalas for time optimal processes and trajectories. Then we show the application of the technique to determine the optimal control signal, control sequence, switching time and sampling period to the given 4th order process.

  • The problem of optimal shutdown control of nuclear reactor having nonlinear dynamics is considered. Since the problem, being a bounded state space problem, is difficult to solve by conventional analytic methods such as Pontryagin's maximum principle, it is approached directly by the quasilinearization technique, and solved numerically. The solution obtained in this manner proves to be an improvement over the previous results.

  • Based on the possibility theory and the fuzzy set, the Maximum Possibility Estimation method and its applications in kinematic GPS positioning are presented in this paper. Firstly, the principle and the optimal criterion of the Maximum Possibility Estimation method are explained. Secondly, the kinematic GPS positioning model of single epoch single frequency with baseline length constraint is developed. Then, the authors introduce the artificial immune algorithm and use this algorithm to search the global optimum of the Maximum Possibility Estimation model. The results of some examples show that the method is efficient for kinematic GPS positioning.

  • The problem of optimally controlling a time-delay control system to a function as the final target is inverstigated. Necessary conditions are presented in the form of Pontryagin's maximum principle, and it is further shown that they are also sufficient for linear systems with a convex cost functional. Several examples are given to illustrate the results.
