This study aimed to investigate the effects of Ser/Cys polymorphism in hOGG1 gene, Arg/Pro polymorphism in p53 gene, smoking and their interactions on the development of lung cancer. Ser/Cys polymorphism in hOGG1 and Arg/Pro polymorphism in p53 among 124 patients with lung cancer and 128 normal people were detected using PCR-RFLP. At the same time, smoking status was investigated between the two groups. Logistic regression was used to estimate the effects of Ser/Cys polymorphism and Arg/Pro polymorphisms, smoking and their interactions on the development of lung cancer. ORs (95% CI) of smoking, hOGG1 Cys/Cys and p53 Pro/Pro genotypes were 2.34 (1.41-3.88), 2.12 (1.03-4.39), and 2.12 (1.15-3.94), respectively. The interaction model of smoking and Cys/Cys was super-multiplicative or multiplicative, and the OR (95% CI) for their interaction item was 1.67 (0.36 -7.78). The interaction model of smoking and Pro/Pro was super-multiplicative with an OR (95%CI) of their interaction item of 5.03 (1.26-20.1). The interaction model of Pro/Pro and Cys/Cys was multiplicative and the OR (95%CI) of their interaction item was 0.99 (0.19-5.28). Smoking, hOGG1 Cys/Cys, p53 Pro/Pro and their interactions may be the important factors leading to the development of lung cancer.
This study aimed to develop a seismic retrofit technique using a steel frame which can be easily transported and assembled on site. This enables the retrofit steel frame to be easily attached to an existing structure minimizing the unwanted gap between the structure and the steel frame assembly. A one-story one-bay RC frame was tested with and without seismic retrofit using the proposed steel frame to verify the seismic retrofit effect of the proposed system, and an analysis model was developed in Opensees for seismic performance evaluation of a case study soft first-story model structure retrofitted with the developed steel frame assembly. Seismic performance of the model structure was also evaluated considering soil structure interaction effect. The experimental study confirmed that the proposed seismic retrofit system can be applied effectively to improve the seismic performance of framed structures. Time history analysis results of the model structure showed that the proposed steel frame assembly was effective in increasing the seismic load resisting capacity of the soft first-story structure. However more steel frame assemblies were required to satisfy the given performance limit state of the model structure located on weak soil due to the negative soil-structure interaction effect.
This paper studied the effect of soil-structure interaction (SSI) on the seismic response and retrofit of a reinforced concrete structure with a soft-first story for different soil types. A 5-story structure built on a 30m deep homogeneous soil mass was considered as a case study structure, and steel column jacketing and steel bracing were chosen as seismic retrofit methods. Seismic responses of a fixed-base and a flexible base structure subjected to seven scaled earthquake records were obtained using the software OpenSees to investigate the effect of soil on seismic response and retrofit. The nonlinearBeamColumn elements with the fiber sections were used to simulate the nonlinear behavior of the beams and columns. Soil properties were defined based on shear wave velocity according to categorized site classes defined in ASCE-7. The finite element model of the soil was made using isoparametric four-noded quadrilateral elements and the nonlinear dynamic responses of the combined system of soil and structure were calculated in the OpenSees. The analysis results indicate that the soil-structure interaction plays an important role in the seismic performance and retrofit of a structure with a soft-first story. It was observed that column steel jacketing was effective in the retrofit of the model structure on a fixed base, whereas stronger retrofit measures such as steel bracing were needed when soil-structure interaction was considered.
This study developed and validated a 'Parent-child Lexical Interaction Scale for Preschoolers (PLIS-P)'. First, we developed the preliminary scale with 7 factors after reviewing previous literature related to vocabulary and literacy instruction for young children and reflected on feedback from child studies experts and mothers with young children. Subsequently, to validate the scale, the online survey was conducted on mothers with 5-to 6-year-old children who live in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon, Gyeongsang, Chungcheong, Jeolla, Gangwon, and Jeju. Responses from 309 mothers were used to conduct exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis and correlation analysis. The results were as follows. First, the result of exploratory analysis showed that the model with 7 factors was satisfactory: (1) vocabulary exposure, (2) word elaboration, (3) scaffolding, (4) play activity, (5) conventional instruction, (6) word type awareness instruction, (7) word morphology instruction. Second, confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the good fit of the model. Third, the concurrent validity was confirmed by correlation analysis using EC-HOME. Last, the internal consistency reliability of each factor of PLIS-P was also confirmed. This study developed both a theoretical framework of parent-child lexical interaction and a Parent-child Lexical Interaction Scale for Preschoolers. This scale can be used by parents, practitioners, and researchers to acquire knowledge about interaction related to words between Korean parents and young children.

This article arose from the previous studies, which suggested a synthetic list for the nature of science (NOS), discussed the relationship between the NOS and scientific inquiry and the development of the NOS in the context of scientific inquiry. In this article, for teaching scientific inquiry through the NOS, I proposed three teaching models - reflection, interaction, and the direct model -. Within these teaching models, understanding the NOS is viewed as a prerequisite condition for the improved performance of scientific inquiry. In the reflection model, the NOS is embedded and reflected in scientific inquiry without explicit introduction or direct explanation of the NOS. In the interaction model, concrete interaction between scientific inquiry and the NOS is encouraged during the process of scientific inquiry. In the direct model, subsequent to directly comprehending the NOS at the first stage of activity, students conduct scientific inquiry based on their understanding of the NOS. The intention of this present article is to facilitate the use of these models to develop teaching materials for more authentic scientific inquiry.
As robots become more prevalent in human daily life, situations requiring interaction between humans and robots will occur more frequently. Therefore, human-robot interaction (HRI) is becoming increasingly important. Although robotics researchers have made many technical developments in their field, intuitive and easy ways for most common users to interact with robots are still lacking. This paper introduces a new approach to enhance human-robot interaction using a semantic symbol language and proposes a method to acquire the intentions of robot users. In the proposed approach, each semantic symbol represents knowledge about either the environment or an action that a robot can perform. Users'intentions are expressed by symbolized multimodal information. To interpret a users'command, a probabilistic approach is used, which is appropriate for interpreting a freestyle user expression or insufficient input information. Therefore, a first-order Markov model is constructed as a probabilistic model, and a questionnaire is conducted to obtain state transition probabilities for this Markov model. Finally, we evaluated our model to show how well it interprets users'commands.
The purpose of this study is to analyze manifestation examples and effects of group creativity in mathematical modeling and to discuss teaching and learning methods for group creativity. The following two points were examined from the theoretical background. First, we examined the possibility of group activity in mathematical modeling. Second, we examined the meaning and characteristics of group creativity. Six students in the second grade of high school participated in this study in two groups of three each. Mathematical modeling task was "What are your own strategies to prevent or cope with blackouts?". Unit of analysis was the observed types of interaction at each stage of mathematical modeling. Especially, it was confirmed that group creativity can be developed through repetitive occurrences of mutually complementary, conflict-based, metacognitive interactions. The conclusion is as follows. First, examples of mutually complementary interaction, conflict-based interaction, and metacognitive interaction were observed in the real-world inquiry and the factor-finding stage, the simplification stage, and the mathematical model derivation stage, respectively. And the positive effect of group creativity on mathematical modeling were confirmed. Second, example of non interaction was observed, and it was confirmed that there were limitations on students' interaction object and interaction participation, and teacher's failure on appropriate intervention. Third, as teaching learning methods for group creativity, we proposed students' role play and teachers' questioning in the direction of promoting interaction.

The 5G Core Network (5GC) is an essential part of the mobile communication network, but its security protection strategy based on the boundary construction is difficult to ensure the security inside the network. For example, the Network Function (NF) mutual authentication mechanism that relies on the transport layer security mechanism and OAuth2.0's Client Credentials cannot identify the hijacked NF. To address this problem, this paper proposes a trust model for 5GC based on NF interaction behavior to identify malicious NFs and improve the inherent security of 5GC. First, based on the interaction behavior and context awareness of NF, the trust between NFs is quantified through the frequency ratio of interaction behavior and the success rate of interaction behavior. Second, introduce trust transmit to make NF comprehensively refer to the trust evaluation results of other NFs. Last, classify the possible malicious behavior of NF and define the corresponding punishment mechanism. The experimental results show that the trust value of NFs converges to stable values, and the proposed trust model can effectively evaluate the trustworthiness of NFs and quickly and accurately identify different types of malicious NFs.
Track-bridge interaction (TBI) problem often arises from the adoption of modern continuously welded rails. Rail expansion devices (REDs) are generally required to release the intensive interaction between long-span bridges and tracks. In their necessity evaluations, the key techniques are the numerical models and methods for obtaining TBI responses. This paper thus aims to propose a preferable model and the associated procedure for TBI analysis to facilitate the designs of long-span bridges as well as the track structures. A novel friction-spring model was first developed to represent the longitudinal resistance features of fasteners with or without vertical wheel loadings, based on resistance experiments for three types of rail fasteners. This model was then utilized in the loading-history-based TBI analysis for an urban rail transit dwarf tower cable-stayed bridge installed with a RED at the middle. The finite element model of the long-span bridge for TBI analysis was established and updated by the bridge's measured natural frequencies. The additional rail stresses calculated from the TBI model under train loadings were compared with the measured ones. Overall agreements were observed between the measured and the computed results, showing that the proposed TBI model and analysis procedure can be used in further study.

The structural analysis for the secondary lining of tunnels is generally performed by a frame analysis model. This model requires a ground loosening load estimated by some empirical methods, but the load is likely to be subjective and too large. The ground load acting on the secondary lining is due to the loss of the supporting function of the first support members such as shotcrete and rockbolts. Therefore, the equilibrium condition of the ground and the first support members should be considered to estimate the ground load acting on the secondary lining. Ground-lining interaction model, shortly GLI model, is developed on the basis of the concept that the secondary lining supports the ground deformation triggered by the loss of the support capacity of the first support members. Accordingly, the GLI model can take into account the ground load reflecting effectively not only the complex ground conditions but the installed conditions of the first support members. The load acting on the secondary lining besides the ground load includes the groundwater pressure and earthquake load. For the structural reinforcement of the secondary lining based on the ultimate strength design method, the factored load and various load combination should be considered. Since the GLI model has difficulty in dealing with the factored load, introduced in this study is the superposition principle in which the section moment and force of the secondary lining estimated for individual loads are multiplied by the load factors. Finally, the design method of the secondary lining using the GLI model is applied to the case of a shallow subway tunnel.
