This study was carried out to investigate the vascular plants of the Mt. Galjeongok-bong (1204 m) Protected Area for Forest Genetic Resource Conservation. The vascular plants collected 12 times (from March 2007 to October 2012) were consisted of total 385 taxa; 82 families, 232 genera, 335 species, 4 subspecies, 43 varieties and 3 forms respectively. Among them, 9 taxa Korean endemic plants and 21 taxa of Korean rare plants were investigated in addition to 89 taxa of specially designated plants announced by the Ministry of Environment. The naturalized plants were 9 taxa, therefore naturalized ratio was 2.3%. 385 taxa listed consists of 152 taxa (39.5%) of edible plants, 123 taxa (31.9%) of medicinal plants, 120 taxa (31.2%) of pasture plants, 52 taxa (13.5%) of ornamental plants, 16 taxa (4.2%) of timber plants, 4 taxa (1.0%) of fiber plants and 3 taxa (0.8%) of industrial plants.
The flora of Sorok Island was investigated 8 times from January 2001 to November 2002. The vascular plants recorded as total 604 taxa, 13 forms, 65 varieties, 1 subspecies, 524 species, 397 genera, 128 families. The rare and endangered plants were recorded 1 taxa (Millettia japonica (Sieb. et Zucc.) A. Gray), 12 taxa (3 variety, 9 species, 10 genera, 10 families) as Korean endemic plants. The naturalized plants were 26 taxa, 1 variety, 25 species, 21 genera, 12 families, 4.30% and 9.15% among the total naturalized plants and Urbanization Index in Korea. Visitor's numbers are expected to increase rapidly because nature views of Sorok Island are beautiful, which kind and number of naturalized plants are forecasted to be increased. Strong conservation policies should be considered.
This study was carried out to clarify the distribution of vascular plants and their usefulness in Geommasan of Gyeongbuk (1,017m, $36^{\circ}\;42^{'}\;30.0^{"}{\sim}36^{\circ}\;45^{'}\; 30.1^{"}N,\;129^{\circ}\;12^{'}\;30.0^{"}{\sim}129^{\circ}\;18^{'}\; 00.0^{"}E$). The vascular plants collected 11 times (from April 2004 to October 2006) were consisted of total 513 taxa; 91 families, 318 genera, 424 species, 3 subspecies, 73 varieties and 13 forms. Among them, edible, medicinal, industrial, ornamental and unknown of usefulness plants were 243 taxa, 307 taxa, 122 taxa, 85 taxa, 77 taxa, respectively. Korean endemic plants of this area were 11 taxa, and Law-protected plants by Ministry of Environment were 4 taxa, The naturalized plants were 21 taxa, therefore naturalized ratio was 4.1%, and Urban index 7.5%.
This study was carried out to clarify the distribution of vascular plants and their usefulness in Irwolsan of Gyeongbuk $(1218.5m,\;36^{\circ}\;45'\;00'\~36^{\circ}\;50'\;10'\;N,129^{\circ}\;02'\;50'\~129^{\circ}\;09'\;00'E)$. The vascular plants collected 16 times (from May, 2002, to May, 2003) were consisted of total 740 taxa; 105 families, 381 genera, 618 species, 6 subspecies, 104 varieties and 12 forms. Among them, edible, medicinal, industrial, ornamental and unknown of usefulness plants were 315 taxa, 428 taxa, 100 taxa, 84 taxa, 201 taxa, respectively. Korean endemic plants of this area were 22 taxa, and Law-protected plants by Ministry of Environment were 6 taxa. The naturalized plants were 27 taxa, therefore naturalized ratio was $3.6\%$, and Urban index $9.7\%$.

Subalpine zone is geographically vulnerable to climate change. Forest vegetation in this zone is one of the important basic indicator to observe the influence of climate change. This study was conducting phytosociological community classification and endemic-rare plants investigation based on vulnerable species to climate change at the subalpine zone, Mt. Jiri. Vegetation data were collected by 37 quadrate plots from March to October, 2015. In order to understand the species composition of plant sociological vegetation types and the ecological impacts of species, we analyzed the layer structure of vegetation type using important values. Vegetation type was classified into eight species groups and five vegetation units. The vegetation types can be suggested as an indicator on the change of species composition according to the future climate change. There were 9 taxa endemic plants and 17 taxa rare plants designated by KFS(Korea Forest Service) where 41.2% of them were the northern plant. Endemic-rare plants increased as the altitude of vegetation unit increase. Importance value analysis showed that the mean importance value of Abies koreana was highest of all vegetation units. Based on analysis of each layer, all units except vegetation unit 1 were considered to be in competition with the species such as Quercus mongolica and Acer pseudosieboldianum. The results of this study can be a basic data to understand the new patterns caused by climate change. In addition, it can be a basic indicator of long-term monitoring through vegetation science approach.

To establish in vitro axillary bud culture conditions of Echinosophora koreensis Nakai, one of Korean endemic endangered species famous for beautiful flowers, we tested the influence of plant growth regulators (PGRs) in shooting and rooting stage from in vitro plants. In shoot multiplication, addition of 6-benzylaminopurine (BA) to the media induced 2.5 to 3 shoots per bud during 4 weeks of culture. And media including 0.5 mg L-1 thidiazuron (TDZ) produced 3 to 4 shoots per bud. However, zeatin and isopentenyl adenine (2-ip) were not successful to increase shoot number, and the combination treatments of BA with other PGRs were also not effective. Shoots were smaller than 2 cm in length, in most of the treatments. In rooting, naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) treatments in the range of 0.5 to 4.0 mg L-1 appeared to increase rooting rate by 10% to 60% approximately when compared with the control but roots developed with callus clusters. Indole butyric acid (IBA) addition had little effect on rooting (below 10%), while some roots were longer than in NAA treatments and some shoots were longer on high IBA concentrations (4.0 to 8.0 mg L-1). It is suggested that micropropagation is a highly applicable and promising to multiplication and conservation of rare and endangered endemic species.
This study was carried out to investigate the flora of indigenous habitat of Simjeok forest wetland, Mt. Jeombomg forest wetland, Mt. Sohwangbyung forest wetland, Jilmoi-neup, and Mt. Myeon forest wetland in Gangwon Province. The vascular plants were summarized as 547 taxa; 92 families, 296 genera, 468 species, 4 subspecies, 67 varieties, 8 forms. The plants that are specially noteworthy are 17 taxa of Korean endemic plants, 3 taxa of Critical Endangered Species (CR), 4 taxa of Endangered Species (EN), 8 taxa of Vulnerable Species (VU) and 17 taxa of Least Concemed Species (LC) in rare plants as categorized by the Korean Forest Service. Furthermore, V, IV, III degrees of floristic regional indicator plants as categorized by the Korean Ministry of Environment included 9 taxa, 14 taxa and 34 taxa, respectively. In addition, 25 taxa of naturalized plants were observed. In this study, we identified a variety of plants observed in the wetlands of Gangwon Province. We believe that this study will provide useful data for future research on the conservation and management of wetlands.
