  • This study aimed to suggest research directions for future studies by exploring trends of existing academic literature on multicultural acceptance of elementary school children in Korea. For this purpose, this study searched for domestic articles in academic data base using key words related to the subject of this study. Finally 36 articles were selected and using content analysis they were analyzed according to year of publication, fied of study, research themes, and research methods. The results of the study indicated that steady academic efforts have been made related to this topic since the first study in this field appeared in 2010 and the most prolific field of study was pedagogy. Results also showed that the theme of analyzing factors affecting multicultural acceptance of children was studied the most and quantitative methods were dominant. Results of the analysis suggested a need to put more research endeavor to extend the scope of research themes, study fields, and research designs in this field and they contributed to providing basis for future research.

  • For efficient and effective nuclear regulation, regulatory organizations must establish consistent and rigorous regulatory positions on safety matters. These positions should be based on high technical expertise and relevant ordinances, standards, and guidelines reflecting policy changes governing nuclear regulations. The Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety, a regulatory expert organization in Korea, has developed regulatory requirements, guidelines and analytical tools that provide regulatory technical bases for ensuring nuclear safety. The nuclear regulatory research also contributes to regulatory decision making by providing resolution for current and future safety issues. In this article, we introduce nuclear regulatory research and its main achievements in the past 10 years. Also, suggested here are future directions of nuclear regulatory research.

  • Satellite-based land surface temperature (LST) has been used as one of the major parameters in various climate and environmental models. Especially, Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) LST is the most widely used satellite-based LST product due to its spatiotemporal coverage (1 km spatial and sub-daily temporal resolutions) and longevity (> 20 years). However, there is an increasing demand for LST products with finer spatial resolution (e.g., 10-250 m) over regions such as urban areas. Therefore, various methods have been proposed to produce high-resolution MODIS-like LST less than 250 m (e.g., 100 m). The purpose of this review is to provide a comprehensive overview of recent research trends and challenges for the downscaling of MODIS LST. Based on the recent literature survey for the past decade, the downscaling techniques classified into three groups-kernel-driven, fusion-based, and the combination of kernel-driven and fusion-based methods-were reviewed with their pros and cons. Then, five open issues and challenges were discussed: uncertainty in LST retrievals, low thermal contrast, the nonlinearity of LST temporal change, cloud contamination, and model generalization. Future research directions of LST downscaling were finally provided.

  • The outbreak of a recent strain of Coronavirus, known as 'COVID-19', has spread sharply from China across the globe, resulting in a dramatic recession in the global economy. This uncertainty has therefore negatively influenced the business perspective and the various formulated strategies that may not considered such [extreme] circumstances. Using baseline analysis and archival data, this paper reports some of the major implications of COVID-19 on global business and strategy and puts forward suggested research agenda as potential future directions for organizations. In order to survive and remain sustainable, this paper argues that businesses need to revisit their strategies during current COVID-19 crises from three perspectives, including supporting human resources financial commitment, forming cross-functional teams and connecting with their supply chains, as well as investing in corporate social responsibility and doubling down efforts with regard to partnerships. The study also represents a preliminary analysis to the implications of COVID-19 on the business and strategies across the globe and is considered the first such in the field of business, as to date all research papers on COVID-19 have been published in medical-related journals. Directions for future research are also proposed at the end of this study.

  • Recently, the educational facilities were 45% among total damaged facilities from the Po-Hang earthquake. Consequently, the seismic reinforcement of existing educational facilities were ended up attracting people's interesting. However, research is insufficient to consider that how far technology has been developed. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the level of domestic guideline research by comparing to foreign guidelines in regard to seismic reinforcement methods applicable to existing educational facilities. To achieve the objective, first, the current status of seismic reinforcement projects in domestic educational facilities was analyzed. Second, the domestic and foreign seismic reinforcement methods guidelines for structural, non-structural was compared. Third, the improvement directions for future guidelines were suggested. As a results, the improvement directions of domestic seismic reinforcement methods guidelines were proposed. First, the structural seismic reinforcement strategy needs to be segmented. Second, it is necessary to analyze about non-structural guidelines based on additional cases. In the future, this study can be used as a basic material for developing seismic reinforcement methods guidelines in domestic existing educational facilities.

  • An intelligent robot, which has been developed recently, is no more a conventional robot widely known as an industrial robot. It is a computer system embedded in a machine and utilizes the machine as a medium not only for the communication between the human and the computer but also for the physical interaction among the human, the computer and their environment. Recent advances in computer technology have made it possible to create several of new types of human-computer interaction which are realized by utilizing intelligent machines. There is a continuing need for better understanding of how to design human/robot interface(HRI) to make for a more natural and efficient flow of information and feedback between robot systems and their users in both directions. In this paper, we explain the concept and the scope of HRI and review the current research trends of domestic and foreign HRL. The recommended research directions in the near future are also discussed based upon a comparative study of domestic and foreign HRI technology.

  • As the scale of research and development (R&D) increases, countries and companies are consistently establishing R&D directions to meet strategic goals and market demands as well as roadmaps to increase efficiency through concentration and selection. However, establishing an effective roadmap and discovering promising technologies are challenging under the current numerous technological possibilities and uncertainties. The importance of discovering promising technologies to secure future technological competitiveness is recognized worldwide, and Europe, the United States, and Japan are establishing processes to identify promising future technologies and support related R&D. Methods for discovering promising future technologies can be classified into future social needs analysis, forecasting, surveys, use of expert opinions, and data analysis. We describe the types and limitations of technology roadmaps and investigate the status of domestic and foreign organizations using weak signal search through quantitative data analysis.

Methods: A total of 91 theses were selected in journals released in Korea from January 2006 to August 2018. The analysis standards for the research trend were established as research period, theme, target and method. Results: First, the amount of research on child care education has gradually increased since 2006. Second, action research for improvement was the most common research theme for child care education, while activities utilizing fairy tales and picture books were the most frequently used education activities. Third, research that targeted five-year-olds accounted for the largest part of research. Fourth, when it came to research type, most research was based on quantitative research. Conclusion/Implications: Based on the analysis results above, the direction for the development of future child care education and relevant research was discussed.
