This study examined the relationship between body fitness and body composition as well as the body fluid and intracellular fluid (ICF) of extremities to determine body composition's quantitative criteria for body fitness. Multiple-frequency segmental bioelectrical impedance analysis and the physical fitness test provided by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology were used to measure body composition and physical fitness, respectively. The test results showed that in women in their fifties, the correlation between the amount of body fluid in the upper limbs and grip strength was r=.654 (p<0.01) for the right arm and r=.445 for the left while that between the amount of ICF in the upper limbs and grip strength was r=.708 (p<0.01) for the right and r=.323 for the left. Also, in women in their fifties, the correlation between the amount of body fluid in the lower limbs and the result of a repetitive side jump test was r=.730 for the right leg and r=.753 for the left (p<0.01 for both), and that between the amount of ICF and the counts for the right and left legs was even higher with r=.742 and r=.763, respectively (p<0.01 for both). The body fluid and ICF volumes in the right extremities exceeded those in the left, and physical fitness was correlated with both body fluid and ICF. These findings indicate a connection between physical fitness and body fluid and ICF, suggesting that body composition may help predict physical fitness.
PURPOSES : The goal of this study is to analyze the operational efficiencies of special roundabouts using simulated programs. METHODS : This study primarily focuses on comparing the delays and traffic flow disturbances occurring at special roundabouts. In this study, the operational efficiencies of 450 scenarios (5 roundabout types ${\times}$ traffic volumes ${\times}$ directional ratios ${\times}$ measures) are analyzed according to the corresponding delays and traffic flow disturbances using VISSIM and SSAM. RESULTS : The main results are as follows: 1) the Hamburger roundabouts are determined to yield the least common-type delays, 2) the amount of delays at Turbo and Flower roundabouts with respect to relatively increased right-turn-type delays, in addition to the amount of delays at the Left-turn slip-lane roundabout with respect to relatively increased left-turn-type delays, are found to be reduced as compared to the common-type delays. Lastly, common- and increased right-turn-type traffic flow disturbances at the Turbo roundabout and increased left-turn-type traffic flow disturbances at the Left-turn slip-lane roundabout are determined to be the most infrequent. CONCLUSIONS : This study comparatively analyzes five roundabout types: standard, Flower, Turbo, Hamburger, and Left-turn slip-lane. The effectiveness of roundabouts can increase according to given traffic volume, directional ratio, and measure of effectiveness.
This study was conducted in cut rose cultivation field in Goyang to evaluate pesticide exposure of farmers and the relationship between the exposure and work environment/method for cut rose farmers. Dermal exposure was assessed with patch (thin chromatography layer paper), cotton glove by body parts during mixing and spraying works in which pyrethroid, organophosphate, carbamate pesticide were used in 4 cut rose greenhouses located in Goyang province, checking characteristics of environment/working method at the same time. Body parts assessed were as follows ; glove : hand, patch : head, neck(front/back), chest, back, shoulder(right/left), upperarm(right/left), forearm(right/left), thigh(right/left), shin(right/left). Pesticides were analyzed using gas chromatography(NPD/FID) after extracting with ethyl acetate. Exposure amount differed according to pesticide type. But after standardizing with total net weight of pesticide sprayed, there were no significant difference among pesticides. There were significant difference in exposure amount among body parts(especially exposure amount of thigh, shin were more than the others), which means exposure happen not by pesticide dispersion in air but by contact with cut rose(leaf, branch) indirectly. Walking forward during spraying made farmers more exposed than waling backward, these results means contacts with leaves/branches made exposure happen in cut rose greenhouse also. As a result, pesticide exposure in cut rose greenhouse was related with contact of leaf/branch which pesticide remained in, which made exposure pattern (especially exposure amount) differ by body parts
Tetralogy of Fallot is a cyanotic congenital heart disease characterized by large ventricular septal defect[VSD] and stenosis of right ventricular outflow tract[RVOT] and the degree of RVOT stenosis and the state of pulmonary arteries are the major determinant of prognosis of this anomaly after operation. The sum of blood flow through RVOT and collateral flow from systemic arteries determine the total pulmonary blood flow and it is drained to left atrium and left ventricle. Therefore the degree of development of left ventricle not only reflects pulmonary blood flow and the status of peripheral pulmonary arteries but also affects postoperative prognosis as a systemic ventricle. In this article, left ventricular volume and its influence on postoperative cardiac function in tetralogy of Fallot were studied in 34 patients operated on at Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Seoul National University Hospital in 1985. Mean age of the patients was 5 1/12*3 9/12 years[range 9/12 - 14 8/12 years], mean body surface area[BSA] 0.65*0.20m2[range 0.38 - 1.22m2], mean body weight 15.6k6.48kg[range 7.0 - 36kg]and mean hematocrit 50.6*9.77%[range 32.0 - 73.5%]. Left ventricular end-diastolic volume[LVEDV] of them were from 11.2 to 113cc and there was a good linear correlation between BSA[m2, X]and LVEDV[cc, Y][Y= - 20.0+923x, r= 0.84, p < 0.005]. Mean LVEDV/m2 was [57.6 * 18.3 cc / m2[range 28.7 - 95.8 cc / m2] and there was a significant reduction of volume compared with normal value. As body surface increases, there was a increasing tendency in LVEDV/m2 but there was no statistical significance. Mean total amount of postoperatively infused dopamine in these 33 patients[except one who expired postoperatively] was 65.6*74.5mg / kg and it was 40.6*44.0mg / kg in routine RVOT widening group [Group I] and 205*49.3mg / kg in transannular RVOT widening group[Group II]. There was a statistically significant difference between two groups. In group I patients there was a good linear inverse correlation between dopamine total amount[mg / kg, Y] and LV volume[cc / m2, X] [Y = 150 - 1.89 X, r = - 0. 77, p < 0.005]. But there were no correlations between dopamine total amount and Hct, cardiopulmonary bypass time and aorta cross clamp time. In conclusion, the patient with small preoperative left ventricular volume required more amount of dopamine as an inotropic agent for the maintenance of a cardiac function in postoperative period. But this is a result of immediate postoperative period and does not reflect the long term effect of left ventricular volume in tetralogy of Fallot. There must be more study for the evaluation of its long term effect.
To find the reasonable gathering amount by a length of gathered skirt and a fabric the methods of this study were divided on three types-five kinds of the gathering amounts three kinds of fabrics and three kinds of skirt length-so forty five kinds of the samples were made. As the visual evaluation and the shape of hemlines evaluation of the gathered skirt were practiced by these factors this study found the aesthetical gathering amount and analyzed the shape of hemlines. The following are the results of this research. 1. In the same fabric and skirt length to estimate a hemlines shape of a gathered skirt the increased amount of the node number of cotton fabric was widest and wool fabric was most stable And when the gathering amounts of each fabric were higher than 1.5 times the node indexes were no difference. According as a skirt length was longer the node indexes assumed a similar aspects but according as the skirt length was shorten an the gathering amount was smaller the node shapes were level and broad. And according to being increased a gathering amount the width of right and left of gathered skirt was generally wider. 2. In the same gathering amount and skirt length in seeing the estimation of a hemlines shape of a gathered skirt when the skirt length was 40cm in cotton polyester wool fabrics the node indexes were similar at up to 1.5 times of gathering amount and especially it became very bigger at 0.5 times and according as the gathering amount was increased node index became gradually smaller. The width of right and left of the skirt hemlines of wool fabric was more smaller than polyester and cotton fabrics so it is happen to hang down. 3. In the same gathering amount and fabric in seeing the estimation of a hemlines shape as a variation of a skirt length when the gathering amount of cotton and polyester was from up to 1.5 times and wood fabric was from up to 1.0 times according as skirt length was longer node index in the same gathering amount was decreased. And in case as it was 0.5 times the node indexes of the 40cm and 60cm skirt length were bigger than other factors. In the same gathering amount the width of right and left of the skirt hemlines was smaller at 60cm skirt length and polyester fabric was smaller at 80cm skirt length.
In this study, ultrasonographic evaluations were made after experimentally induced ascites in dogs. Ultrasonographic evaluation allowed to identify the earliest fluid accumulation between the spleen and the left kidney after the administration of 0.9% normal saline at 8 ml/kg into the abdominal cavity in dogs. Ultrasonographic finding were observed in order between the spleen and the left kidney, the liver, the pelvic cavity. It is considered that the most adequate pare f3r the early detection of ascites is between the spleen and the left kidney, and the least amount of detection fluid is 8 ml/kg in dogs.
Most upland in Korea have irregular field shapes. Boom sprayers working alone winding row will show considerable differences of spraying amount per unit area between left and right booms. If flow rates of both booms are equal. This phenomenon becomes significant as steering radius of sprayer decreases. This study was performed to seek a method which reduce the difference of the spray amount between left, right and center booms while spraying along curvy rows. A flow rate control method for keeping application rate of each boom section constant was proposed and experimentally proved using a boom sprayer attached to a cultivating tractor. The flow rate control device was composed of 3 ball valves and a rotary angle sensor. The rotary angle sensor showed a symmetric voltage output with respect to steering radius. The spray overlapping was happened in a boom nearby the steering center when steering radius of the sprayer was less than 5.2 m. Flow rates for left, right and center booms were regulated using ball valves based on the steering radius and spraying areas ration of right/left boom. The Maximum spraying area ratio ($S_{LR}$) of left to right boom section was 1:3.6 at the steering radius of 5.2 m. However, The Maximum achieved right and left spraying flow ratio was 1:2.7.
The purpose of this study is to search effect that GCM joint treatment gets to right and left range of motion of neck, lumbar, trunk and anke joint. Estimated body deformity using GCM body type assesment chart then measured range of motion of each region. After control group did as act freely after do experiment premeasurement control group did postmeasurement. Each region was measured by measurer who each subject person differs. Experimental group did GCM joint treatment and all measurements each region by measurer who each subject person differs three times measured. When measure with each measurement, measured after leave and walk time interval for 10 minutes. For the analysis of the resulr of experiment the results is change amount comparison increased to keep in mind except ankle joint's dorsiflexion before experiment of experimental group and control group(P<.05). Before an experiment and after an experiment of experimental group, differed to keep in mind in right and left comparison of neck rotation, dorsiflexion, plantaflexin of ankle joint in change amount comparison(P<.05). Neck lateral flexion appears and displayed significantly level right and left difference than rotation after experiment of experimental group(P<.05). Because dorsiflexion, plantefleaion of ankle joint became similar right and left significantly difference did not appear(P<.05).
In this investigation we undertook to evaluate the utility of radionuclide cardiac angiography in the detection of cardiac shunts before and after surgical correction. Time-activity curves of ventricles and lungs were evaluated after bolus intravenous injection of 99mTc-human serum albumin in 512 preoperative patients and 551 post-operative patients. Omitting 31 cases of technical failure due to poor bolus, we detected shunts in 459 cases of 481 preoperative evaluations, so the detectability was 95.4%. The cases which couldn`t be detected by this method had small amount of shunt. Also the degree of shunt detected by radioisotope methods were well correlated with oxymetry method. [r=0.89, p<0.01 ] In postoperative evaluations, 18 out of 411 patients with left to right shunt and 10 out of 140 right to left shunt were found to have remnant shunts with radionuclide cardiac angiography. Of the 28 cases with failed operation, 2 were confirmed in reoperation, 2 by cardiac catheterization, 2 by two -dimensional echocardiography. All except one .f these patients had membranous ventricular septal defects and those with left to right shunts had moderate to severe pulmonary hypertension and shunt amount. Also those had larger septal defects than control group. We consider that radionuclide cardiac angiography is a simple and noninvasive method which can show the preoperative diagnosis and postoperative follow up of cardiac shunts.
The author experienced a case of $Henoch-Sch\"{o}nlein$ purpura with epididymitis in a 6-year-old boy who was admitted to our hospital due to left scrotal pain and the relapse of purpura on lower extremities for 3 days. Scrotal ultrasonography on admission revealed homogenously enlarged left epididymal head and small amount of fluid collection in left tunical space. The size of left epididymal head decreased gradually with no more evidence of fluid collection on day 7 and recovered completely on day 21. The author reports a case of $Henoch-Sch\"{o}nlein$ purpura with epididymitis with brief review of related literatures.
