This study was investigated on the basis of the role of housing cooperatives in sustainable regional business networks(SLEN) in regeneration of residential aged area where the urban poor live. For the analysis, input elements of human capital, social capital, financial capital and ecological capital were examine. For the process, the organization's structure, sustainable business and social networks, and for the result, the stability and community characteristics of the living and the payment possibility of housing construction cost were examined. Through this study, what kinds of issues can be from the housing coop's project in terms of sustainability, and what is the most important factor in order to overcome former mentioned issues were intended to find. For analysis literatures were reviewed and the in-depth interviews and survey were conducted with site visits. The result of this study finds that housing coop have community characteristics through active participation of residents during the regeneration process but the land, as financial and ecological capitals, and housing construction funds were poor. This was investigated that it makes groundless the sustainability of the project and the possibility of the payment. In order to overcome, land concession, inexpensive lental and active funning for housing construction to housing coop is required because housing coop is aiming to supply of social housing for low-income and vulnerable groups.
The results of 2000 Population Census explains the context of a series of incidents happening in the Latino television broadcasting market recently. That is, the rapid growth of Latino population so fast as overtaking the Black population has needed media as a means of Latino's own social interests and communication. In this context, the television broadcasting market as a marketing means of capitals targeting for the Latinos has experienced more rapid changes. In other words, there has been some changes in the Latino television broadcasting market which divided by two major networks, Univision and Telemundo. It was 1970s when Latino media started to be considered as an important framework to understand the problems of the Latinos in American society. Experiencing the human rights movement of the 1960s, the Latino communities' sense of identity realized the importance of media as an expression of themselves from the interest on the factors which directly determine the quality of their life such as the immigration, education, health, and employment. The anglo media plays a role in introducing the Latinos and forming the images of the Latinos to the non-Latinos. It can be possible to criticize that the anglo media propagates the unilateral image of the Latinos by the mainstream white society, the stereotyped images of the Latinos. The spanish media targeting for the Latinos has grown continuously, combining the inside needs of forming the identity of the Latinos and communication and outside needs of commercialism. On the other hand, the needs for the programs based on the American Latinos has been increased, along with the increase of the Latino media based on the dual languages or English. This paper reviewed the history of the Latino media briefly, and then examined the relationship between the Latinos and the media through the television broadcasting which influence the Latino's everyday life enormously.
This research analyzes the differentiation of the reproduction of the educational capital according to the residential area which is determined by the socio-economic status of parents. The results of the research show that: the reproduction of the educational capital of the region where highly educated people are segregated is very different from that of other regions in terms of the quantity and quality. The fact that one resides in a certain special area tends to determine the future of his child, so the boundary between the social groups is being intensified through the geographic concentration of the affluence and poverty. Gangnam Gu where the different educational capital is reproduced through the better educational environment tends to become the gated city which has the invisible but strong socio-economic barriers through the sharp rise of the housing(apartment) value and the concentration of highly educated people. Through the exclusion of other classes by the high price of the housing, only the residents within the barrier have access to the good educational facilities and services.
The Joseon had made maps of Japan with information that gained during the exchanges with Japan on the basis of the polio of maintaining amicable relations. The elaborate map of Japan similar to Haenggido was in Honilgangniyokdaekukdojido(Map of integrated lands and regions of historical countries and capitals, made in 1402, and more accurate map of Japan was found in Haedongjegukgi(Chronicle of the countries of the Eastern Sea, compiled by Sinsukju in 1471. These products were due to openness of foreign exchanges in 15th century. After 16th century, understanding of Japan based on China-centric view was intensified, as the confucianism of Chu-tzu planted its roots deeply in Joseon society as the social doctrine. These tendency were reflected in the map-making, accordingly many kinds of maps of Japan in the atlas were meager in contents and distorted in shorelines. Apart these currents, as comings and goings of official envoy became brisk, elaborated maps of Japan were imported and copied in the Joseon dynasty. Consequently these maps helped the elites of Joseon to raise understanding of Japan.
The Law has intervened to define rare circumstances in which a person should choose continuing life in United States. On the one hand, the law has traditionally acted to preservelife and to respect the sanctity of life. On the other hand, one's control over one's own body, and the right to determine what kind of medical care one will receive, is equally well respected and historically grounded. The competent patients have the right to forgo life-sustaining treatment, courts in United States have left many unanswered questions about the nature of that right. The right to choose to forgo life-sustaining treatment is a manifestation of a patient's autonomy interest. In United States, The Karen Quilan case gave rise to legislative activity in the host of state capitals, and several states had adopted statutes that formally recognized some forms of written directives describing some circumstances in which certain kinds of medical care could be terminated. These statues were sometimes dominated 'living will' acts, sometimes 'right to die' acts and ocasionally 'natural death' acts. Today virtually every state has produced a living will statue. In Korea, courts do not permit a terminally ill person to withhold or withdraw life-sustaining treatment. Living wills apply in case of terminal illness owing to a defect in legislation. Now In Korea, these lively dispute of legal policy on the preconditions and concrete procedure of living will act and natural death act. Through the legislation of living will act and natural death act, we should prepare some circumstances to respect patient's autonomy on the right to die. We should frame the cultural standard to make a decision of forgoing life-sustainin1g treatment under the discreet procedure.
Based on the Greek myth of Pygmalion and the fairy tale of Cinderella, Shaw's Pygmalion demonstrates a masterful coalescence of these two narrative motifs into a coherent plot scheme. Even more significant is his keen insight into the conflicts created at the tripartite intersection of human activity concerning language/class/culture, which, as the leitmotif, revolves around lessons in language learning. This play basically deals with human transformation and by its very nature, Higgins's experimentation with transforming Eliza cannot stop at language alone. Her cultural transformation ripples over into the realms of gesture and even a unique way of living (modus vivendi) intimately associated with taste and manners, which Bourdieu terms as habitus. By acquiring a new fashion and language, Eliza is reborn as a new lady aspiring to be filled with a newly acquired habitus. While separating her from her old Cockney style, Higgins inculcates Queen's English in Eliza, in which process her changed speech styles gradually transforms and restructures her deportment and manners, finally generating new practices, perceptions and attitudes. The gist of Pygmalion is however less Eliza's ascent into the middle class than her battle for symbolic capital waged at the level of language. By problematizing his contemporary practice of habitus conventionalized and warped by class distinctions based on economic, social and cultural capitals, Shaw creates a new humanist model of man founded on spiritual and rational virtues. In conclusion, Eliza is not a frigid Galatea but a dynamic character that goes through a brilliant transformation of three stages: 1) linguistic; 2) cultural, and 3) humanist. Finally she is built into a "consort battleship" on an equal standing with her sculptor. The process of her character-building cannot be illuminated without resorting to the dynamic notion of habitus, which highlights the process of inculcation, structuring, generation and transposing. Given the overwhelming weight of the heroine's role and the dynamic process of her transformation as the major plot scheme, this play should be christened Galatea in lieu of Pygmalion.
This study examines motivations for international students to study abroad at Korean universities. Employing qualitative and mixed methods, this study used grounded theory to analyse data obtained from student interviews, essays, digital storytelling videos, and student video representations to explicate the nature of study of six subjects. All subjects were enrolled in English Education courses during years 2014-2017. The researcher was the course instructor. Results from this study revealed that major codes that emerged from data analyses were those of economics, culture, language study, and personal development, corroborating with findings of most research literature regarding international students' motivations (OUSO, 2015). However, survey of professional literature and study data showed that motivational codes presented in the literature and this study, were discursive in nature in that each code was not only connected to all other codes, but also mutually co-constructive. As such, this study suggests that motivational codes found in study abroad literature were discursive in nature, resembling Bourdieu's (1991) theory of economic, social, and cultural capitals. Results of this study suggest that various motivations for studying abroad are subsumed under economic logic of expense and career development.

This paper introduces a new type of industrial cluster developed at the CBD of Seoul. Conventionally, clusters are said to be consisted of hi-tech, often If activities, manufacturing industries or artisan craft industries with increasing vertical integration and performance usually supported by venture capitals and favorable business infrastructure, not to mention governments', be it central or local, incentive plans. The study area, Cheonggyechon region has long been a traditional CBD frame of Seoul, Korea, being troubled by deterioration, traffic jams, and environmental degradation as most inner cities experience. Recently. this region has transformed to the most dynamic and productive area not by IT industries but by apparel and fashion activities. The study of the developmental trajectory and key characteristics for this kind of industrial cluster can give us insight both for the transition of inner city and for the cluster theory. This Paper firstly briefly Profiles the growth of the Cheonggyechon region over the past decade. It then shows the current spatial and business structure of the new industrial cluster, focusing on the fact that transactions costs are reduced, the creation and flow of information improves. and the local institutions are prone to be most responsive to the new cluster's specialized needs. The third section presents the key components of the customized production-distribution-shopping cluster development process, emphasizing the localized networking. social capital, spontaneous institutionalization of associational economic climate, and cultural economy based on place-specific inertia. The paper concludes with some comments about the prospects and perils of the new industrial cluster of Seoul.
The present study investigates the effects of lopsided regional policy and social prejudice on homeownership disparities by household's place of birth of household head in Seoul. The present study utilizes individual household-level census data (2% sample) to evaluate households' residential well-being denoted by homeownership status during the period of 1980-2000. Decomposition techniques based on tenure choice models were used to provide evidences of the home-ownership disparities caused by regional policy and prejudice. We found that households from Gangwon and Honam provinces represent a disproportionately small percentage of homeownership compared with those originated from other provinces. In the statistical analysis, the present study found that having controlled for the factors traditionally thought to influence households' choice of housing tenure, as well as other housing market characteristics in Seoul, place of birth has played a primary role in determining whether or not households become a homeowner. Most strikingly, while most of the disparity in homeownership ratios between households from Youngnam and households from Gangwon in the housing market is due to the endowment differences in human capitals they bring to the market, those between households from Youngnam and households from Honam is largely due to residual differences explained mainly by social discrimination and prejudice against people from Honam. The present study summarized that place of birth has played a primary role in determining whether or not households become a homeowner in Korea. The present study concluded with some policy issues relevant to this study and suggested some future studies.
