A Classification of Breast Tumor Tissue Images Using SVM (SVM을 이용한 유방 종양 조직 영상의 분류)

  • Support vector machines is a powerful learning algorithm and attempt to separate belonging to two given sets in N-dimensional real space by a nonlinear surface, often only implicitly dened by a kernel function. We described breast tissue images analyses using texture features from Haar wavelet transformed images to classify breast lesion of ductal organ Benign, DCIS and CA. The approach for creating a classifier is composed of 2 steps: feature extraction and classification. Therefore, in the feature extraction step, we extracted texture features from wavelet transformed images with $10{\times}$ magnification. In the classification step, we created four classifiers from each image of extracted features using SVM(Support Vector Machines). In this study, we conclude that the best classifier in histological sections of breast tissue in the texture features from second-level wavelet transformed images used in Polynomial function.

A Study On Holistic Synthesis Human Face Images (얼굴 영상의 합성에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents a method to automatically synthesized human fare images from holistic descriptions. We compactly represent the face set by a small set of prototypes, which can be used in simple ways generated controlled morphings. This becomes possible because separation of 2D-shape and texture provides a faithful, closed and convex representation of images, and smooths the mapping between images and their properties. With this approach, the user watches an images being continuously morphed according to his indications, and the synthesized images always obey the natural physiognomic constraints.

  • In this paper we propose three classification algorithms to classify breast tumors that occur in duct into Benign, DCIS(ductal carcinoma in situ) NOS(invasive ductal carcinoma) The general approach for a creating classifier is composed of 2 steps: feature extraction and classification Above all feature extraction for a good classifier is very significance, because the classification performance depends on the extracted features, Therefore in the feature extraction step, we extracted morphology features describing the size of nuclei and texture features The internal structures of the tumor are reflected from wavelet transformed images with 10$\times$ and 40$\times$ magnification. Pariticulary to find the correlation between correct classification rates and wavelet depths we applied 1, 2, 3 and 4-level wavelet transforms to the images and extracted texture feature from the transformed images The morphology features used are area, perimeter, width of X axis width of Y axis and circularity The texture features used are entropy energy contrast and homogeneity. In the classification step, we created three classifiers from each of extracted features using discriminant analysis The first classifier was made by morphology features. The second and the third classifiers were made by texture features of wavelet transformed images with 10$\times$ and 40$\times$ magnification. Finally we analyzed and compared the correct classification rate of the three classifiers. In this study, we found that the best classifier was made by texture features of 3-level wavelet transformed images.

The study of Combination Texture Information and Knowledge Base Classification for Urban Paddy Area Extraction-Using High Resolution Satellite Image

  • This research uses high-resolution satellite images as a source of collecting farmland information. For effectively extract the paddy area, we use texture information and different classify methods to assist the satellite image classification. First, using maximum likelihood classifier to extract paddy information from images. The results show that User Accuracy and Procedure Accuracy of the paddy area can increase from 80.60% to 95.45% and 84.38% to 95.45%. Second, establishing a paddy Knowledge Base and using Knowledge Base Classifier to extract paddy area, and result shows the User Accuracy and Producer Accuracy to be 92.16% and 90.06%. Finally, The result shows we can effectively contribute to the paddy field information extraction from high-resolution satellite images.

An Effective Relevance Feedbackbased Image Retrieval using Color and Texture

  • In this paper, we proposed an image retrieval system with a simple and effective relevance feedback, called RAP(Reward and Punishment) algorithm. First, color and texture features were extracted from the images. Next, the extracted feature values were used for image retrieval in various forms. We applied the relevance feedback to the initial retrieved images from the image retrieval system, and compared its result with that of the conventional system. In the experiment using the test image database of 16 class 512 images, the proposed system showed the better retrieval performance of about 10∼l7 % than that of the conventional INRIA system in each relevance feedback step.

Contextual Modeling and Generation of Texture Observed in Single and Multi-channel Images

  • Texture is extensively studied in a variety of image processing applications such as image segmentation and classification because it is an important property to perceive regions and surfaces. This paper focused on the analysis and synthesis of textured single and multiband images using Markov Random Field model considering the existent spatial correlation. Especially, for multiband images, the cross-channel correlation existing between bands as well as the spatial correlation within band should be considered in the model. Although a local interaction is assumed between the specified neighboring pixels in MRF models, during the maximization process, short-term correlations among neighboring pixels develop into long-term correlations. This result in exhibiting phase transition. In this research, the role of temperature to obtain the most probable state during the sampling procedure in discrete Markov Random Fields and the stopping rule were also studied.

  • Water level of the Tonle Sap is largely influenced by the Mekong River. During the wet season, the lacustrine landform and vegetated areas are covered with water. Change detection in this area provides information required for human activities and sustainable development around the Tonle Sap. In order to detect the changes in the Tonle Sap floodplain, fifteen ALOS-PALSAR L-band data acquired from January 2007 to January 2009 and examined in this study. Since L-band is able to penetrate into vegetation cover, it enables us to study the changes according to water level of floodplain developed in the rainforest. Four types of images were constructed and studied include 1) ratio images, 2) correlation coefficient images, 3) texture feature ratio images and 4) multi-color composite images. Change images (in each 46 day interval) extracted from the ratio images, coherence images and texture feature ratio images were formed for detecting land cover change. Two RGB images are also obtained by compositing three images acquired in the early, in the middle and at the end of the rainy season in 2007 and 2008. Combination of the methods results that the change images present the relationship between vegetation and water level, leaf fall forest as well as cultivation and harvest crop.

Retrieval of Regular Texture Images based on Curvature (곡률에 기반한 규칙적인 질감 영상의 추출)

  • In this paper, we propose a regular-texture image retrieval approach relating In curvature. Maximum curvature and minimum curvature are computed from the query and each regular-texture image in the database. Seven features are computed from curvature characterizing statistical properties of the corresponding image. Each regular-texture image in the database is then represented as the seven CM (curvature measurement)-features. Query comparison and matching can be done using the corresponding CM-features. Experimental results on Brodatz texture show that the proposed approach is effective.

GLIBP: Gradual Locality Integration of Binary Patterns for Scene Images Retrieval

  • We propose an enhanced version of the local binary pattern (LBP) operator for texture extraction in images in the context of image retrieval. The novelty of our proposal is based on the observation that the LBP exploits only the lowest kind of local information through the global histogram. However, such global Histograms reflect only the statistical distribution of the various LBP codes in the image. The block based LBP, which uses local histograms of the LBP, was one of few tentative to catch higher level textural information. We believe that important local and useful information in between the two levels is just ignored by the two schemas. The newly developed method: gradual locality integration of binary patterns (GLIBP) is a novel attempt to catch as much local information as possible, in a gradual fashion. Indeed, GLIBP aggregates the texture features present in grayscale images extracted by LBP through a complex structure. The used framework is comprised of a multitude of ellipse-shaped regions that are arranged in circular-concentric forms of increasing size. The framework of ellipses is in fact derived from a simple parameterized generator. In addition, the elliptic forms allow targeting texture directionality, which is a very useful property in texture characterization. In addition, the general framework of ellipses allows for taking into account the spatial information (specifically rotation). The effectiveness of GLIBP was investigated on the Corel-1K (Wang) dataset. It was also compared to published works including the very effective DLEP. Results show significant higher or comparable performance of GLIBP with regard to the other methods, which qualifies it as a good tool for scene images retrieval.

  • In this paper, we describe the development of a system for generating a 3-dimensional human face using 3D scanned facial data and photo images, and morphing animation. The system comprises a facial feature input tool, a 3-dimensional texture mapping interface, and a 3-dimensional facial morphing interface. The facial feature input tool supports texture mapping and morphing animation - facial morphing areas between two facial models are defined by inputting facial feature points interactively. The texture mapping is done first by means of three photo images - a front and two side images - of a face model. The morphing interface allows for the generation of a morphing animation between corresponding areas of two facial models after texture mapping. This system allows users to interactively generate morphing animations between two facial models, without programming, using 3D scanned facial data and photo images.
