  • This paper examines Du Boisian critique of American exceptionalism through a close textual analysis of his writings from early essays to later works. As an attempt to respond to the persistent grip American exceptionalism has on both the academia and the intellectual world at large, this paper tries to fill in the gaps within the discourse of American exceptionalism by exploring the works of one of the most towering American intellectual figures, and suggests that the discourse of American exceptionalism has remained within the purview of white scholars. Although at times inconsistent and contradictory, Du Bois's trenchant critique of American civilization and Western imperialism deconstructs the original ideals of America, creating more than a fissure in the ideology/hegemony/state fantasy of American exceptionalism. I argue that Du Boisian critique of American exceptionalism shows its violent marginalization and racialization based on white supremacy. Du Boisian critique should be a cautionary tale for those scholars who talk of "reform" or "replenishment" or even who occlude the possibility that American exceptionalism has not always functioned as a "state fantasy" by assuming its absolute blinding powers.

  • Data format of Big data is diverse and vast, and its generation speed is very fast, requiring new management and analysis methods, not traditional data processing methods. Textual mining techniques can be used to extract useful information from unstructured text written in human language in online documents on social networks. Identifying trends in the message of politics, economy, and culture left behind in social media is a factor in understanding what topics they are interested in. In this study, text mining was performed on online news related to a given keyword using topic - oriented analysis technique. We use Latent Dirichiet Allocation (LDA) to extract information from web documents and analyze which subjects are interested in a given keyword, and which topics are related to which core values are related.

  • Patents are system to promote the development of industry by disclosing technology. The importance of recent patent is being emphasized. For this reason, companies apply for many patents. And they analyze the patent. Patent analysis helps to protect and foster their technology. Previously this method has been carried out by experts. Expert-based patent analysis, however, has the disadvantage of being time-consuming and expensive. Consequently, we try to solve this problems by developing prediction model. Therefore, this paper proposes a data-based patent analysis method using quantitative indicator and textual information. We confirmed the practical applicability of the proposed method through 1,831 autonomous vehicle patents. As a result, it was possible to confirmed that safety and lane detection related technologies are important.

  • Most of the information prevailing in the Internet space consists of textual information. So one of the main topics regarding the huge document analyses that are required in the "big data" era is the development of an automated understanding system for textual data; accordingly, the automation of the keyword extraction for text summarization and abstraction is a typical research problem. But the simple listing of a few keywords is insufficient to reveal the complex semantic structures of the general texts. In this paper, a text-visualization method that constructs a graph by computing the related degrees from the selected keywords of the target text is developed; therefore, two construction models that provide the edge relation are proposed for the computing of the relation degree among keywords, as follows: influence-interval model and word- distance model. The finally visualized graph from the keyword-derived edge relation is more flexible and useful for the display of the meaning structure of the target text; furthermore, this abstract graph enables a fast and easy understanding of the target text. The authors' experiment showed that the proposed abstract-graph model is superior to the keyword list for the attainment of a semantic and comparitive understanding of text.

Until the present, most of these studies on the Kukyul are mainly concerned with the Korean linguistic characters. But this mentions to present the basic bibliographical information in order to presume the written period of the Kukyul system. 2The analysis of each book is made in the respect of: 1) historical aspect of the book 2) physical form and publishing date 3) transcription period of the Kukyul 4) the category of presenting Kukyul 5) historical change of transcribing Kukyul system The results of the study are as follows : First, the Kukyul system was divided into Sokdok and Sundok Kukyul according to the translation and recording format. Second, the Sokdok Kukyul is a kind of writing system for translated Chinese into Korean. Third, the Sundok Kukyul was frequently used Buddhist publications from later Koryo Dynasty to Middle Chosun period. Fourth, through the analysis of physical bibliography for that books, we rearrange the chronological oder of Sokdok Kukyul system as Hwaum-kyung, Hwaum-kyungSo, Kumkwngmyu ngkyung, Kuyeukinwang-kyung, Yukasajiron. Fifth, the characters of Sundok Kukyul systems were gradually decreased from eighty numbers to fifty numbers. This change is caused by the unification trends of sound value in morphological aspect.
