  • According to the global status of terroristic acts occurred from 2002 to 2010, 10,431(nearly 52.2%) of 19,946 cases have happened by bomb blasts, and 10,431(nearly 52.2%) of weapons used for terrorism were explosive substances Therefore, this study analyzed the terrorism risks of buildings according to height through FEMA 455 - rapid visual screening. As a result, the higher the building is, the higher the terror risk gets. It shows that total risk increases proportionally to buildings's height. In case of buildings over 100 meter high, the total risk is most affected by threat items. According to the risk of explosion associated with the scenario analysis, buildings over 100 meter high have high risks of Internal-Explosive.

  • The strengthened aviation security measurements caused by increased terror threat all around the world have air passengers annoyed by uneasy treatment and some delayed process. The service level of air travel and competitiveness of airlines industry has been weakened also. The aviation security process is mainly conducted at an airport. The threat level of airport is not usually same airport to airport, and the quality of aviation security activity is neither same. However, ICAO requires every international airport to conduct similar process to ensure aviation security without considering situational difference of each airport. The paper has objectives to develop reasonable security measurements based on risk management concept. It studied the ways of achieving target level of security of an airport, considering the threat situation of the airport and its ability to conduct security procedures.

  • Our nation, of which the term of dispatching troops is winded up at the end of this year, is facing presidential election time including the nuclear security summit meeting in March, opening of EXPO in May, and the general election. Hence, the possibility to select our nation at the strategy forming public opinion of military withdrawal through Taliban's terror is high. It coincides with public affair strategy of Taliban terror and learning effect by the past cases. If the possibility of terror threat of Taliban along with this is summarized, the period of threat will concentrate on and be heightened in the first half when the nuclear security summit meeting and EXPO open in our nation, and target and method have high possibility of collision terror of bomb carrying vehicle and suicide bomb on national government organizations or American facilities, and etc, and possibility of kidnapping on our people such as oversea tourists, missionaries, and so on. Terror groups joining the criminal act is to use Islam illegal aliens who already acquire base in our nation or entry maneuver of specialized terrorists connected to Al-Qaeda. • Since the terrorist attacks 9.11 in 2001, the public places such as subway, department stores or office buildings have become a target of terror in major public facilities. In this paper, for the prevention of terrorist attack in domestic building, the assessments of terror risk were conducted and their relationship with building heights was discussed through FEMA 455-Rapid Visual Screening(RVS). Explosive terror risk tends to increase rapidly with building heights(H<230m), showing the correlation coefficient between total risk and building heights(H<230m) is 0.93. In addition, The average of consequences is 8.47 and that of' threat is 8.95. Vulnerability is found to be 6.62 in average.

  • Due to an increasing number of cyberattacks globally, cybersecurity has become a crucial part of national security in many countries. In particular, the Digital Pearl Harbor has become a real and aggressive security threat, and is considered to be a global issue that can introduce instability to the dynamics of international security. Against this context, the cyberattacks that targeted nuclear power plants (NPPs) in the Republic of Korea triggered concerns regarding the potential effects of cyber terror on critical infrastructure protection (CIP), making it a new security threat to society. Thus, in an attempt to establish measures that strengthen CIP from a cybersecurity perspective, we perform a case study on the cyber-terror attacks that targeted the Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. In order to fully appreciate the actual effects of cyber threats on critical infrastructure (CI), and to determine the challenges faced when responding to these threats, we examine factual relationships between the cyberattacks and their responses, and we perform analyses of the characteristics of the cyberattack under consideration. Moreover, we examine the significance of the event considering international norms, while applying the Tallinn Manual. Based on our analyses, we discuss implications for the cybersecurity of CI in South Korea, after which we propose a framework for strengthening cybersecurity in order to protect CI. Then, we discuss the direction of national policies.

  • Recently, large-scale research and efforts aimed at the smart world such as smart city, smart home, smart transportation, and smart care are continuing. As these smart worlds become more common, the expansion of connectivity with the Internet and the threat of cyber terrorism will be inevitable. Increasing the threat of cyber terrorism is increasing the likelihood of a massive disaster and safety accident. Therefore, in this paper, we examine smart worlds that are expanded in various forms and derive the security threat factors that smart worlds have. In addition, it is proposed to block the threat of terrorism from abroad if access from abroad is not required when constructing a smart world. Through this, we intend to present a method to eliminate cyber terror threats for the establishment and operation of a safe smart world.

  • With international urgence of terror situation, many methods of terror techniques and skills are appearing and more intense and threatening terror is braking out not only in the air(plane), but also in the sea(ship). Korea is surrounded by 3 sides of sea and is a proud maritime nation that should advance to foreign country through the sea because South Korea and North Korea are confronting. Korea depend on the maritime transportation, 99.7% of exporting, importing material resources. Therefore, acquisition of the marine safety has the great affect on national security and economical life. On the high tension of situation about threat and possibility of maritime terroism, the potential ways of the improvement policy for counter-tactics against big maritime terror are the following. First, we should construct clear and well-organized network for accurate information about maritime terrorism Second, we should have the information of all domestic, foreign passenger's ships Third, national important facilities such as atomic energy plant, thermo-electric power plant, shipyard need policies to manage all emergency situation Fourth, government authorities should improve tactic abilitities by competing with support and budget inside of nation as well as outside of nation. To develop big maritime terror of our country, we will have to hold cooperative training & tactics contest of big maritime terror by cooperating educational industry organization with similar institute, improve the ability of members of big terror and acquire tactics information by excavating and exchanging a new technique through tactics seminar and public hearing.

  • In recent years, cyber terror that break into major institution's information system and destroy and paralyzed important information occurs frequently. Some countries do dangerous acts such as train hackers and order hackers to hack important industrial confidential documents which are core of national competitiveness to reduce the competitiveness of the country and cause social confusion. In this thesis, it will study problems of cyber terror to help people to use Internet in web environment that safe from cyber terror and to avoid the risk from cyber terror such as malware and DDos. This thesis is organized as following. In second chapter, it will look thorough the research that are related to cyber terror. In third chapter, it will study attack types of cyber terror. In fourth chapter, to defend from cyber violence, it will suggest safe solution. In fifth chapter, it will end with conclusion. Finally, to prevent urgent incidents like North Korean Cyber-attack, every Internet user must indicate their recognition on Internet security and it is significant to make a quick response treatment to create the safe online environment.
