This study was conducted to examine the changes of the mechanical properties of the position in jean slacks during the wear, previously used for the wearing test, which were subjected to repeated tensile-shearing deformation using a simulated fatigue tester has been investigated and compared, by calculating both mechanical properties and hand value(HV) of these fabrics with KES-F system and the by obtaining the THV through these calculated properties. The results are as follows. 1. The fatigue phenomenon of mechanical properties was the LT, 2H B, 2HBS, MMD, SMD, RC values increased, elasticity values of tensile, bending and shearing properties, such as B, G and compression properties LC, WC were reduced. It was shown, then, that those fabrics lost their elasticity and became flexible and soft with the increase of fatigue. 2. The hand value and THV; except anterior knee from all part of KOSHI, NUMERI, FUKURAMI was decreased. 3. The fatigue phenomenon of hand value was different on the position of clothing; on the position of hip, rate of B, G smaller than other parts and KOSHI was decreased, on the part of anterior thigh was FUKURAMI was increased, on the anterior knee RC, NUMERI, THV was increased, on the posterior knee was 2HB, 2HG, 2HGS showed increasedgreater than any other part and on the hem of back, MMD was increased, but NUMERI was decreased. 4. The changing process of mechanical properties in the simulation testing by the fatigue tester has similar tendency to that of the wearing tester. It is concluded that this testing method is useful to predict the fatigue phenomena of fabrics caused by wearing.
The Fiber/Metal Laminates (FMLs) have been developed as a new composite material for aerospace application to reduce weight and improve damage tolerance. In this study, firstly FMLs were manufactured and the tensile test was performed to investigate the mechanical properties of FMLs. Furthermore, impact behavior of the low velocity on FMLs which consisted of different types of aluminum or fiber/epoxy layers was tested by the drop weight impact tester based on the different impact energy conditions. The load-time and energy-time curves were employed to evaluate the impact performance of different specimens. Moreover, finite element analysis (FEA) was also performed to simulate the tensile test and impact behavior of FMLs under the same conditions with the tests and good agreements have been obtained between the FEA predictions and experimental results.

Static and dynamic experiments were done to study on the restitution behaviors of strings. The elastic and viscoelastic model were compared. To apply a linear viscoelastic model (Kelvin model) to longitudinal behaviors of strings, static and dynamic tensile tests were done. Using their results, it should be intended to acquire damped stress (Stress related to velocity), and to calculate the viscoelastic coefficient. Fixing both ends, string was pushed by the loadcell attached to the tensile tester. The experimental results were in accordance with the calculated results using the Kelvin model acquired from the results of longitudinal tensile test. But the results of falling mass experiments, the behaviors of strings were near to elastic model. The clamping condition of strings in both sides has an effected on the value of COR. The smaller contact area, the grower the value of COR.

In this study, we tried to evaluate the mechanical properties of Polycarbonate(PC) and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene(ABS) plastic materials, which are frequently used as parts of home appliances and machinery, when repeated impacts were applied. A repeating impact tester for this research was designed and manufactured to apply repetitive impacts. Two types of plastic were repeatedly impacted under a constant load, and a tensile test was performed on the plastic material that was impacted. The tensile strength of PC plastic materials that received impact more than 2000 times was reduced by about 45 % and elongation was reduced by about 10 % when compared to impact free specimens. On the other hand, in ABS plastic, a reduction of tensile strength of about 20 % was observed at about 2,000 impacted specimen, but at about 20,000 repetitive impacted specimen, a tensile strength decrease of about 65 % was observed. And the elongation was reduced by 10 % due to the cyclic harding behavior of the material.
11-Aminododecanoic acid, to insert the functional group of -COOH reacted with the end group of poly($\varepsilon$-caprolactone) diol, and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTMA), to increase the d-spacing of Montmorillonite (MMT), were intercalated into $Na^+;_-$MMT. The modified MMT was reacted with poly(${varepsilon}-caprolactone$) diol ($M_n{=2000$) in THF solution at $80^{\circ}C$ for 4 hrs. After reaction, poly(${varepsilon}-caprolactone$) ($M_n{=80000$) was mixed into the solution for 12 hrs. To prepare the PCL/clay nanocomposite film this solution was cast into the silicon mold at $60^{\circ}C$ in vacuum oven for 6 hrs. From the results of XRD and TEM, it was found that the exfoliated PCL/clay nanocomposite were prepared. The effects of the amount of MMT on the mechanical properties and thermal properties of PCL/clay nanocomposites have been investigated by tensile tester and DSC. Because the MMT was dispersed homogeneously in PCL matrix, the Young's modulus of the nanocomposite were found to be excellent. However, MMT dispersed in PCL matrix had almost no effect on the tensile strength of the composites. The crystallization temperature of PCL increased in proportion to 3 wt% MMT in the PCL matrix.
Researches about micro technology travel lively in these days. Such many researches are concentrated in the field of materials and a process field. But properties of micro materials should be known to give results of research developed into still more. In these various material properties, mechanical property such as tensile strength, elastic modulus, etc is the basic property. To measure mechanical properties in micro or nano scale, actuating must be very precise. PZT is a famous actuator which becomes a lot of use to measure very precise mechanical properties in micro research field. But PZT has a nonlinearity which is called as hysteresis. Not precision result is caused because of this hysteresis property in PZT actuator. Therefore feedback control method is used in many researches to prevent this hysteresis of PZT actuator. Feedback control method produce a good result in processing view, but cause a loss in a resolution view. In this paper, hysteresis is compensated by open loop control method. Hysteresis property is modeled in Mathematical function and compensated control input is constructed using inverse function of original data. Reliability of this control method can be confirmed by testing nickel thin film that is used in MEMS material broadly.

Softness is considered one of the most important attributes of hygiene paper such as tissue and towel. Being subjective in nature, however, softness attribute has been generally believed to be impossible to evaluate using objective methods. Hallmark in his pioneering work proposed that tissue subjective softness should be mainly consisted of the bulk softness component and surface softness component. The bulk softness component can be determined by tensile stiffness; the surface softness component by surface tester. The surface friction turns out far more important than the surface roughness in determining the surface softness component. It cannot be too much emphasized that both results of the tensile stiffness and the surface friction should depend on measuring conditions such as an instrument used, sample sizes (e.g., basis weight, length, and width) and operating conditions of the instrument (e.g., gauge length, cross-head speed, size of stylus, and its scanning speed). This indicates that a direct comparison of the test results would be impossible or misleading unless they have been tested under the identical conditions. This may explain why the standard objective test method for tissue softness has not been available at present.
Aging characteristics of glass fabric/phenolic composites for tilting train subjected to combined environmental aging factors were investigated. A 2.5KW accelerated aging tester with a xenon-arc lamp was used to provide environmental aging factors such as temperature, moisture, and ultraviolet. A series of aging tests were conducted up to 3000 hours and several types of specimens were prepared along the warp direction and the fill direction. Mechanical degradations for tensile, flexural, and shear properties were evaluated as a function of exposure times through a material testing system. Thermal analysis properties such as storage shear modulus, loss shear modulus, and tan 3 were measured through a dynamic mechanical analyzer. Finally exposed surfaces of the composites were examined using a scanning electron microscope. According to the experimental results, mechanical properties and thermal analysis properties of glass fabric/phenolic composites were found to be slightly degraded as a function of exposure times due to combined environmental effects.
Information of change of hardness values during applying load is needed often to control the quality of metal products efficiently, but the relation between applied stress and hardness has not been established. In this paper the theoretical relation between the rebound hardness and stress was examined briefly and the experiment was performed with some materials. Materials used in test were mild steel(SB41), 7-3 brass and copper, which were widely used in the commercial plants. Hardness was measured during stress applied using the Equo-Tip hardness tester as a kind of rebound hardness tester. Hardness values decreased as tensile stress increased, the decreasing rate was effected by the Young's modulus of each material, and the rebound hardness values showed linear relationship with the applied stress in elastic region.

Ultrasonic metal welder is consisted of power supply, transducer, booster, and horn. Precise designing is required since each parts' shape, length and mass can affect driving frequency and vibration mode. This paper analyzed Cu sheet deposition characteristics using ultrasonic metal welder and tension tester. A horn suitable for 40,000Hz was attached to the ultrasonic metal welder in order to weld Cu plates. The Cu sheet welding was done with different amplitude, pressure, and welding time, and its maximum tension was measured with tension tester. Maximum tension of 153.87N was obtained when the pressure was 2.0bar, amplitude was 80%, and welding time was 0.30s. Therefore, excessive welding condition negatively influences maximum tension measurement result.
