Proxy Caching Grouping by Partition and Mapping for Distributed Multimedia Streaming Service (분산 멀티미디어 스트리밍 서비스를 위한 분할과 사상에 의한 프록시 캐싱 그룹화)

  • Recently, dynamic proxy caching has been proposed on the distributed environment so that media objects by user's requests can be served directly from the proxy without contacting the server. However, it makes caching challenging due to multimedia large sizes, low latency and continuous streaming demands of media objects. To solve the problems caused by streaming demands of media objects, this paper has been proposed the grouping scheme with fuzzy filtering based on partition and mapping. For partition and mapping, this paper divides media block segments into fixed partition reference block(R$_f$P) and variable partition reference block(R$_v$P). For semantic relationship, it makes fuzzy relationship to performs according to the fixed partition temporal synchronization(T$_f$) and variable partition temporal synchronization(T$_v$). Simulation results show that the proposed scheme makes streaming service efficiently with a high average request response time rate and cache hit rate and with a low delayed startup ratio compared with other schemes.

  • Recently, according to the rapid development of location positioning technology and wireless communications technology and increasement of usage of moving object data, many researches and developments on the real-time locating systems which provides real time service of moving object data stream are under proceeding. However, MO (Moving Object) DBMS used based system in the in these systems is the inefficient management of moving object data streams, and the existing DSMS (Data Stream Management System) has problems that spatio-temporal data are not handled efficiently. Therefore, in this thesis, we designed and implemented spatio-temporal DSMS for efficient real-time management of moving object data stream. This thesis implemented spatio-temporal DSMS based STREAM (STanford stREam dAta Manager) of Stanford University is supporting real-time management of moving object data stream and spatio-temproal query processing and filtering for reduce the input loading. Specifically, spatio-temporal operators of the spatio-temporal DSMS support standard interface of SQL form which extended "Simple Feature Specification for SQL" standard specifications presented by OGC for compatibility. Finally, implemented spatio-temporal DSMS in this thesis, proved the effectiveness of the system that as applied real-time monitoring areas that require real-time locating of object data stream DSMS.

Speech Enhancement for Voice commander in Car environment (차량환경에서 음성명령어기 사용을 위한 음성개선방법)

  • In this paper, we present a speech enhancement method as a pre-processor for voice commander under car environment. For the friendly and safe use of voice commander in a running car, non-stationary audio signals such as music and non-candidate speech should be reduced. Ow technique is a two microphone-based one. It consists of two parts Blind Source Separation (BSS) and Kalman filtering. Firstly, BSS is operated as a spatial filter to deal with non-stationary signals and then car noise is reduced by kalman filtering as a temporal filter. Algorithm Performance is tested for speech recognition. And the results show that our two microphone-based technique can be a good candidate to a voice commander.

  • There is substantial evidence from earlier researches that older adults have difficult seeing under low illumination and at night, even in the absence of ocular diseases. During human aging, there is a rampant decrease in rod/cone-meditated adaptation which is caused by delayed rhodopsin regeneration and pigment depletion. This calls for a need to develop appropriate visual gadgets to effectively aid the aging generation. Our research culminates its approach from Pattanaik's model by making extensions to temporal visual filtering, thereby simulating a reduction of visual response which comes with age. Our filtering model paves way and lays a foundation for future research to develop a more effective adaptation model that may be further used in developing visual content adaptation aids and guidelines in MPEG 21 environment. We demonstrate our visual model using a High Dynamic Range image and the experiment results are in conversant with the psychophysical data from previous vision researches.

  • With the development of mobile devices and intelligent surveillance system loaded with pan/tilt cameras, object tracking with non-stationary cameras has become a topic with increasing importancy. Since it is difficult to model a background image in a non-stationary camera environment, colors and texture are the most important features in the tracking algorithm. However, colors in the background similar to those in the target arise instability in the tracking. Recently, we proposed a robust color based tracking algorithm that uses an area weighted centroid shift. In this letter, we update the model such that it becomes more stable against background colors. The proposed algorithm also incorporates time filtering by adding an additional energy term to the energy functional.

  • GPS(Global Positioning System) signal structure uses spread spectrum and the received power is relatively lower than the receiver noise figure. Therefore, it is vulnerable to the RF interferences and it could restrict on the safety navigation. The objective of this paper is to research on the spectral domain GPS interference rejection algorithm using proposed K-median filtering threshold setting method. In the performance test, the proposed algorithm has a relatively higher ISR(interference to signal ratio) compared with the conventional temporal domain technique in case of time variant interference signals.

High-frame-rate Video Denoising for Ultra-low Illumination

  • In this study, we present a denoising algorithm for high-frame-rate videos in an ultra-low illumination environment on the basis of Kalman filtering model and a new motion segmentation scheme. The Kalman filter removes temporal noise from signals by propagating error covariance statistics. Regarded as the process noise for imaging, motion is important in Kalman filtering. We propose a new motion estimation scheme that is suitable for serious noise. This scheme employs the small motion vector characteristic of high-frame-rate videos. Small changing patches are intentionally neglected because distinguishing details from large-scale noise is difficult and unimportant. Finally, a spatial bilateral filter is used to improve denoising capability in the motion area. Experiments are performed on videos with both synthetic and real noises. Results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms other state-of-the-art methods in both peak signal-to-noise ratio objective evaluation and visual quality.

  • Foreground extraction is the most significant step in thermal imaging based surveillance systems. This step needs to be efficient in terms of time and memory consumption in order for the system to provide real time results but usually this efficiency reciprocates with the accurateness of the ROI detection. In this study, novel selective histogram bins based two background & foreground separation approaches for thermal videos processing have been proposed which exploit the temporal-consistency property of the thermal images in a given environment and can save over 80% memory than their simplest counterpart temporal median filtering.

A Proposal of Methods for Extracting Temporal Information of History-related Web Document based on Historical Objects Using Machine Learning Techniques (역사객체 기반의 기계학습 기법을 활용한 웹 문서의 시간정보 추출 방안 제안)

  • In information retrieval process through search engine, some users want to retrieve several documents that are corresponding with specific time period situation. For example, if user wants to search a document that contains the situation before 'Japanese invasions of Korea era', he may use the keyword 'Japanese invasions of Korea' by using searching query. Then, search engine gives all of documents about 'Japanese invasions of Korea' disregarding time period in order. It makes user to do an additional work. In addition, a large percentage of cases which is related to historical documents have different time period between generation date of a document and record time of contents. If time period in document contents can be extracted, it may facilitate effective information for retrieval and various applications. Consequently, we pursue a research extracting time period of Joseon era's historical documents by using historic literature for Joseon era in order to deduct the time period corresponding with document content in this paper. We define historical objects based on historic literature that was collected from web and confirm a possibility of extracting time period of web document by machine learning techniques. In addition to the machine learning techniques, we propose and apply the similarity filtering based on the comparison between the historical objects. Finally, we'll evaluate the result of temporal indexing accuracy and improvement.

New Collaborative Filtering Based on Similarity Integration and Temporal Information (통합유사도 함수의 이용과 시간정보를 고려한 협업필터링 기반의 추천시스템)

  • As personalized recommendation of products and services is rapidly growing in importance, a number of studies provided fundamental knowledge and techniques for developing recommendation systems. Among them, the CF technique has been most widely used and has proven to be useful in many practices. However, current collaborative filtering (CF) technique has still considerable rooms for improving the effectiveness of recommendation systems: 1) a similarity function most systems use to find so-called like-minded people is not well defined in that similarity is computed from a single perspective of similarity concept; and 2) temporal information that contains the changing preference of customers needs to be taken into account when making recommendations. We hypothesize that integration of multiple aspects of similarity and utilization of temporal information will improve the accuracy of recommendations. The objective of this paper is to test the hypothesis through a series of experiments using MovieLens data. The experimental results show that the proposed recommendation system highly outperforms the conventional CF-based systems, confirming our hypothesis.
