Application of DFB Diode Laser Sensor to Reacting Flow (I) - Estimation and Application to Laminar Flames -

  • Diode laser sensor for measuring gas temperature and species concentration in combustion chamber was developed using 2.0 tim distributed feed back lasers. To evaluate the measurement sensitivity of diode laser sensor system, CO2 survey spectra near 2.0 Um were measured and compared with the calculated one. This diode laser absorption sensor was applied to measure gas temperatures in a premixed flat flame of CH$_4$-air mixture. Experimental results were in good agreement with the values by an R-type thermocouple within 6.12%. In addition, successful demonstration of measurement of gas temperature and species concentration in a soot flame showed the promising possibility of diode laser absorption sensors for practical combustion system with non-intrusive method.

  • The flame temperature of LPG-air premixture flame was measured by extrapolation of limiting case corresponding to the infinitely thin diameter of Platinum-resistance-hot-wire. LPG-air premixture flame, initially under atmospheric pressure and room temperature, propagates downward from top of the model combustion chamber maintained at constant pressure through the whole combustion process. Analytical calculation technique was also applied to determine full temperature history or spatial temperature distribution from flame reaction zone to burnt gas region.

  • 마그네슘 입자 군 연소 실험 장치를 제작하고 연소 실험을 수행하였다. 예혼합 화염용 버너에서 마그네슘 입자의 공급 질유량을 변화시켰을 때 점화 지연시간의 변화를 확인하였다. 마그네슘의 질량유량을 증가시킴에 따라 점화 지연시간이 단축됨을 확인하였다. 또한 마그네슘 입자 크기 별, 혼합비에 따라 변화시켰을 군 연소 화염 온도를 two wavelength pyrometry 를 이용하여 군 연소 화염온도를 측정하였다. 입자 크기별 군 연소 화염온도는 거의 비슷함을 확인 할 수 있었으며, 당량비에 따른 화염온도의 측정을 통해 연소되는 마그네슘 연소화염 분포의 특성을 알 수 있었다.

복사열을 이용한 샌드위치 패널 심재의 연소특성 분석 (A Combustion Characteristic Analysis of Sandwich Panel Core Using Radiation Heat Flux)

  • 본 연구에서는 샌드위치 패널 심재에 대한 연소열과 일정한 외부 복사열에 의한 연소특성을 분석하였다. 일정한 외부 복사열원에 노출된 샌드위치 패널 심재의 착화시간, 임계열유속, 착화온도, 시료 표면 온도의 변화를 측정하기 위해 3가지 Type의 시료를 사용하였으며, 연소열을 측정하기 위해 Oxygen bomb calorimeter를, 연소특성을 측정하기 위해 Mass loss calorimeter를 사용하였다. 연소특성을 측정하기 위해 $100\;mm{\times}100\;mm{\times}50\;mm$ 크기의 시료를 사용하였다. 연구결과, 연소열과 착화온도에 있어서 가장 좋은 특성을 갖는 것은 Type B인 반면 임계열유속과 시료 표면온도 변화에 있어서는 Type C에서 가장 좋은 특성을 나타내었다. 모든 연구 데이터를 종합한 결과 Type C가 가장 좋은 화재안정성을 나타낸다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 향후, 샌드위치 패널 심재에 대한 열방출률 특성과 질량감소속도에 대한 실험연구가 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

중주(中炷) 직접구(直接灸)의 연소특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Characteristics of Combustion in Middle Size-direct Moxibustion)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the mechanism and effect of moxa bucket moxibustion, to be used as the quantitative data through the measurement of temperature, and to grasp the thermodynamic characteristics of moxa bucket moxibustion. Methods : We have selected the moxa bucket moxibustion. We have made a comparative study of the thermodynamic characteristics of moxa bucket moxibustion. We have examined combustion times, temperatures, temperature gradients in each period during a combustion of moxa bucket moxibustion made by oak wood. Results : 1. We could design the moxa bucket moxibustion so that it has $57.6^{\circ}C$ maximum temperature with 7g weight and 10mm height, if we use more weight of moxa or lower height of moxa, we can observe relatively elevated maximum temperature. We observed the maximum temperature following the measuring position of moxa bucket and we could see higher temperature at the center of the moxa bucket and lower temperature at the side of the moxa bucket. 2. We could design the moxa bucket moxibustion with 5g moxa and 10mm height so that it has 0.12 $1^{\circ}C/sec$ of maximum temperature gradient, and it has relatively high temperature gradient at lower weight and height condition. 3. We could design the moxa bucket moxibustion with 7g moxa and 15mm height so that it has 4,135sec of the longest effective temperature combustion time. If we use more weight of moxa or higher height of moxa, we can observe relatively extended effective temperature combustion time. Conclusions : We observed the longest effective combustion time following the measuring position of moxa bucket. We can see a higher temperature at the center of the moxa bucket and a lower temperature at the side of the moxa bucket.

  • Two dimensional flame temperature and KL value distribution from the luminous flame containing soot in a DI diesel engine were measured by the tow-color method using tow different wavelengths of the flame image. The combustion chamber of a DI diesel engine was visualized by elongating the piston and cylinder and the flame in the combustion chamber was photographed on a nega-color film using a high speed camera. In this study, color CCD camera was used to digitize the three color density of the film exposed to the flame and standard lamp . The accuracy of the measuring method depends on the calibration line of film made from a high temperature standard tungsten lamp. The formation and oxidization of soot in the diesel engine were studied by observing measured time history of KL factor and flame temperature . Also , effects of various shapes of combustion chamber and fuel injection on flame temperature. Also, effects of various shapes of combustion chamber and fuel injection on flame temperature and KL value distribution were examined.

4행정 대형 디젤엔진의 배기 배출특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Emission Characteristics in 4 Stroke Large Propulsion Diesel Engine)

  • Environmental protection on the ocean has been interested and nowadays the International maritime organization(IMO) has advanced on the prevention of air pollution from ships. This study presents the emission characteristics of 4 stroke propulsion diesel engine in E2 cycle (constant speed) and E3 cycle (propeller curved speed). Also the effects of important operating parameters in terms of intake air pressure and temperature, and maximum combustion pressure are described on the specific emissions. Emissions measurement and calculation are processed according to IMO technical code. The results show that NOx emission level in E3 cycle is higher than E2 cycle due to lower engine speed and lower maximum combustion pressure by retarding fuel injection timing. Intake air temperature has strong influence on NOx emission production. And CO, HC emissions are not affected by maximum combustion pressure and intake air pressure and temperature.

  • 레이저 유도 플라즈마 분광분석법 (Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy : LIBS) 은 기존의 레이저 기반의 연소 진단 기법들의 약한 신호세기, 복잡한 장비 구성, 낮은 정확도 등의 단점을 보완하는 기법이다. 본 연구에서는 LIBS를 활용하여 스크램 제트 엔진의 연소 가스 온도를 측정하기 위한 기초 연구가 수행되었다. 스크램 제트 엔진에서 사용되는 Jet A-1 연료로 스프레이 화염을 만들고 교정된 열전대로 화염 상부에서의 가스 온도를 측정하였다. 그리고 열전대의 온도 측정위치와 동일한 지점에서의 LIBS 신호를 획득하였다. LIBS 스펙트럼을 분석하여 LIBS 신호와 열전대로 측정된 기준 온도와의 보정곡선을 얻었다. 그래서 본 연구를 통해 LIBS를 활용하여 연소 가스의 온도를 in-situ 하게 측정할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

엔진 내 냉각수 유동형태가 연소실 벽면온도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (Effect of Coolant Flow Pattern on Metal Temperature of Combustion Chamber)

  • The effect of coolant flow pattern on the metal temperature of the combustion chamber was studied in 1.5L and 1.8L gasoline engines. One of the main important points in the design of the water jacket is the increase of the coolant flow velocity. In this paper, the water jackets of the cylinder head and the cylinder block were visualized for the purpose of improving the coolant flow pattern. By the use of this technique, the optimal design of the size and th location of the water transfer fole was possible. And, to lower the metal temperatures of the thermally critical parts, the drilled water passages were employed. To investigate of effect of the improved flow pattern and the drilled water passages, the metal temperatures of the combustion chamber were measured. As a result of the temperature measurement, it was found out that both the change of flow pattern and the drilled water passages have significant effect on the reduction of the peak metal temperature.
