Power Allocation Optimization and Green Energy Cooperation Strategy for Cellular Networks with Hybrid Energy Supplies

  • Energy harvesting is an increasingly attractive source of power for cellular networks, and can be a promising solution for green networks. In this paper, we consider a cellular network with power beacons powering multiple mobile terminals with microwave power transfer in energy beamforming. In this network, the power beacons are powered by grid and renewable energy jointly. We adopt a dual-level control architecture, in which controllers collect information for a core controller, and the core controller has a real-time global view of the network. By implementing the water filling optimized power allocation strategy, the core controller optimizes the energy allocation among mobile terminals within the same cluster. In the proposed green energy cooperation paradigm, power beacons dynamically share their renewable energy by locally injecting/drawing renewable energy into/from other power beacons via the core controller. Then, we propose a new water filling optimized green energy cooperation management strategy, which jointly exploits water filling optimized power allocation strategy and green energy cooperation in cellular networks. Finally, we validate our works by simulations and show that the proposed water filling optimized green energy cooperation management strategy can achieve about 10% gains of MT's average rate and about 20% reduction of on-grid energy consumption.

  • The method and process of research and development (R&D) is changing when we develop artificial intelligence (AI), and the way R&D results are dispersed is also changing. For the R&D process, using and participating in open-source ecosystems has become more important, so we need to be prepared for open source. For product and service development, a combination of AI algorithm, data, and computing power is needed. In this paper, we introduce ETRI AI Strategy #4, "Expanding AI Open Platform." It consists of two key tasks: one to build an AI open source platform (OSP) to create a cooperative AI R&D ecosystem, and another to systematize the "x+AI" open platform (XOP) to disperse AI technologies into the ecosystem.

  • In this paper, we introduce ETRI AI Strategy #1, "Proactively Securing AI Core Technologies." The first goal of this strategy is to innovate artificial intelligence (AI) service technology to overcome the current limitations of AI technologies. Even though we saw a big jump in AI technology development recently due to the rise of deep learning (DL), DL still has technical limitations and problems. This paper introduces the four major parts of the advanced AI technologies that ETRI will secure to overcome the problems of DL and harmonize AI with the human world: post DL technology, human-AI collaboration technology, intelligence for autonomous things, and big data platform technology.

  • There is no denying that computing power has been a crucial driving force behind the development of artificial intelligence today. In addition, artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductors and computing systems are perceived to have promising industrial value in the market along with rapid technological advances. Therefore, success in this field is also meaningful to the nation's growth and competitiveness. In this context, ETRI's AI strategy proposes implementation directions and tasks with the aim of strengthening the technological competitiveness of AI semiconductors and computing systems. The paper contains a brief background of ETRI's AI Strategy #2, research and development trends, and key tasks in four major areas: 1) AI processors, 2) AI computing systems, 3) neuromorphic computing, and 4) quantum computing.

  • The UK is a service superpower with solid and well-developed financial and insurance services, including FinTech. Much of the UK's service industry is digital and becoming increasingly so. Primary sources constituting the UK's comparative advantage in services could be factored in business conditions driving innovation in the digital age and world-leading digital competitiveness. Therefore, this study examined the UK's digital policies. This research's focal strands were the UK's digital strategy, national artificial intelligence strategy, and digital trade objectives. As an essential insight for policymakers and other stakeholders, this study proposes that government policies in response to the digital economy are inextricably linked, leading to a critical driver for the UK's digital competitiveness.

  • 최근 정보통신 산업에서 일어나고 있는 기업 및 국가 간 기술(제품) 경쟁은 표준화 경쟁이라고 해도 과언이 아닐 정도로 표준은 시장을 선점하기 위한 핵심 요소로 정보통신 기술 변화의 흐름은 표준화를 지향하고 있다. 더욱이 WTO TBT의 발효로 범세계적으로 하나의 표준을 지향해 나아감에 따라 국제 표준의 중요성은 크게 증대되고 있다. 이에 따라 각 국가는 표준을 생존과 성장을 위한 핵심 전략으로 인식하고, 다양한 전략적 접근을 통하여 표준 획득을 위한 치열한 경쟁을 하고 있다. 이에 본고에서는 정보통신 표준화 경쟁의 대표적 유형에 대하여 살펴보고, 최근 정보통신 분야에서 일어나고 있는 주요 표준화 경쟁의 사례를 분석해 보고자 한다.

  • 유럽의 이동통신시장은 통신기술의 진보에 힘입어 발전을 거듭하고 있으며, 자유화계획의 실현으로 치열한 경쟁이 나타날 것으로 전망된다. 따라서 본 고는 유럽 이동통신시장의 동향을 분석하고, 경쟁적 시장동태성을 파악하여 전략적 시장쟁점을 도출하며, 그 전략적 의미를 분석하여 미래의 시장추세를 예측함으로써 우리나라 이동통신 사업자에게 전략적 시사점을 제시하였다.

A Strategic Grid for Implementing Ubiquitous Computing

  • This letter offers a general framework representing the most effective strategies for implementing ubiquitous computing, given different levels of organizational information system capacity and business needs.
