In particular, science gifted students should build sound values of career in science and technology so that our society can retain the human resources for future science and technology. This study compared and analyzed the structure of science gifted and general middle school students' preferred job and values of career using semantic network analysis. Methodologically, we first collected science gifted and general middle school students' preferred careers and the reasons of the career choice using survey method. Then, we structuralize semantic networks of students' perceived values of their preferred careers using semantic network analysis. We identified the characters of networks that two different student groups showed based on the structure matrix indices of semantic network analysis. Findings revealed that science gifted students considered the creativeness as the most important value of career. Second, science gifted students considered more diverse values of career than general students. Third, science gifted students considered the self-realization such as displaying capability as a core value of career in STEM and medical science whereas general students considered the community service as a core value of the careers. This study identified the significant differences between science gifted and general middle school students' values of careers. The structures of students perceived values of careers can be used for teachers to counsel their students about students' future careers.

  • This is an exploratory study based on the literature reviews which examined the possibilities and necessities of multimodal writing curriculum for liberal education. The purpose of this study is to analyze the existing research results which utilized the teaching methods associating music and writing, and to find the educational implications, and finally in terms of writing education, to suggest the possibilities of writing classes' convergent forms with music extracted from the results of the existing studies. Those studies were categorized to four patterns: WAC, effects of therapy, materials for writing, and new literacy. Based on Meyrowitz's perspective, firstly music can be utilized as a circumstance, which means a teacher can indirectly take the emotional, reminding, and healing effects of background musics. Secondly, music can play an important role of materials in thinking and writing, which is the most generally utilized pattern today. The effects are found in all of affective, cognitive, and strategic domains by utilizing music as a sort of reading materials. Thirdly, the convergent writing of music and narrative is suggested. Music is an independent language that can interact with narrative and construct text meanings in this kind of writing classes. These three dimensions of convergence have different perspectives, but sometimes occur at a same time or as a connected pattern. This study proposes that writing teachers need to improve their competence in music as well and to have professional concerns and efforts to develop their convergent writing teaching skills with music for these classes. Finally, this study stresses that team teaching can be an alternative for them.

  • As school violence gets serious, the school system created the local board against school violence in order to respond to school violence effectively. Yet, there are not many studies about the effectiveness of the local board against school violence. A few studies investigated teachers' perception about the local board while the information about the school resource officers' perception is not known much. The current study surveyed school resource officers about their perception towards the function of the local board, its member, and the response of the principal to school violence. Participants are the school resource officers working for the four metropolitan police agencies(Seoul, Kyunggi, Busan, and Ulsan) in Korea, and were asked to answer to structured and open-ended questions. The results indicated that the officers thought the local board did not very well for the function of protecting the victim's rights. In addition, they believed that the participation of parents needs to be limited in the membership, and more experts should be included in the membership of the local board. They also thought the principals should be tough in dealing with school violence. The discussion includes ideas about improving professionalism of the membership and making changes on the related regulations.

Children's hyperactivity was significant influenced by their sleep status, mother's education level and parenting behavior(p<0.05). A significant difference was noted children's food behavior with the teacher's assessment upon the association with hyperactivity(p<0.05) but was not significantly related to it by mother's checklist. • In this study, we analyzed the co-reflection of pre-service teacher community in three years of post-class discussions (PCD) on the basis of cultural historical activity theory in the case of an biological laboratory class program. We figured out the sociocultural elements of co-reflection of community using activity system suggested by $Engestr{\ddot{o}}m$. We also analyzed the aspect of reflection in terms of both 'the diversity of reflection subjects' and 'the practicality of reflection.' Finally, limitations of co-reflection were sought in a process of continuos circulation of reflection and practice. The results show that the sociocultural factors of 3-year-PCD changed, and in these changes, 'regular PCD,' 'introduction of tools for facilitating reflection,' 'transition of the subject in PCD from researcher to pre-service teachers' are remarkable. And in these process, co-reflection made positive progress since the content of reflection became diverse and practical. However, in some subjects such as 'managing time,' 'participation of students,' 'mentor's role (a kind of teaching manual),' reflective practice have not developed and similar patterns of discussion were repeated. From these results, we suggested ways of facilitating pre-service teacher community's co-reflection from the viewpoint of an activity system.
