Adequate segmentation of target objects from the background plays an important role for the performance of automatic target recognition(ATR) system. This paper presents a new segmentation algorithm using fuzzy thresholding to extract a target. The proposed algorithm consists of two steps. In the first step, the region of interest(ROI) including the target can be automatically selected by the proposed robust method based on the frame difference of each image sensor. In the second step, fuzzy thresholding with a proposed membership function is performed within the only ROI selected in the first step. The proposed membership function is based on the similarity of intensity and the adjacency of target area on each image. Experimental results applied to real CCD/IR images show a good performance and the proposed algorithm is expected to enhance the performance of ATR system using multi-sensors.
In-vehicle route guidance information(RGI) systems have been developed with the advancement of the information and communication technologies. However, the RGI is provided by a pre-determined option, drivers occasionally pass the target intersection owing to non- or late- recognizing it. The purpose of this experiment is to examine the position of driver's tum signal operation and intersection recognition approaching at the target intersection which is difficult to identify as a preliminary research on developing the additional RGI connecting with the tum signal control. The field experiment was conducted to measure distances of the turn signal operation and intersection recognition from the target intersection according to driving lanes and landmarks at adjacent intersection. And, glance behavior to the car navigation display was evaluated by using an eye camera. The results indicate that drivers operate the turn signal after confirming a landmark in the case of the intersection with it. However, most case of driving, drivers operate the tum signal at 40 to 50m before coming to the target. To provide the additional RGI, when drivers do not operate the tum signal approaching at the target intersection based on the results, is expected to improve the traffic safety and the comfort for drivers.

One of the key factors for recognition performance in the automatic target recognition for synthetic aperture radar imagery(SAR-ATR) system is reliability of the SAR target database. To achieve optimal performance, the database should be constructed using the images obtained under the same operating condition as the SAR sensor. However, it is impractical to have the extensive set of real-world SAR images, and thus those from the electro magnetic prediction tool with 3-D CAD models are suggested as an alternative where their reliability can be always questionable. In this paper, a method for similarity assessment between target SAR images is presented inspired by the fact that a target SAR image is mainly characterized by the features of scattering centers. The method is demonstrated using a variety of examples and quantitatively measures the similarity related to reliability. Its assessment performance is further compared with that of the existing metric, structural similarity(SSIM).

Various kinds of systems, that can do target recognition and position detection simultaneously by using infrared sensing detectors, have been developed. In this paper, the detection system TRSS (Thermal target Recognition by Spiral Scanning) adopts linear array shaped uncooled IR detector and uses spiral type fast scanning method for relative position detection of target objects, which radiate an IR region wavelength spectrum. It can detect thermal energy radiating from a 9 m-size target object as far as 200 m distance. And the maximum field of a detector is fully filled with the same size of target object at the minimum approaching distance 50 m. We investigate two types of lens systems. One is a singlet lens and the other is a doublet lens system. Every system includes one aspheric surface and free positioned aperture stop. Many designs of F/1.5 system with ${\pm}5.2^{\circ}$ field at the Efl=20, 30 mm conditions for single element and double elements lens system respectively are compared in their resolution performance [MTF] according to the aspheric surface and stop position changing on their optimization process. Optimum design is established including mechanical boundary conditions and manufacturing considerations.

The killing activity of antibody activated CD$4^+$T cells was completely blocked by herbimycin A, a protein tyrosine kinase (PTK) inhibitor, but not by bisindolylamaleimide, a protein kinase C (PKC) inhibitor. Herbimycin A treated human or bovine peripheral blood CD$4^+$T cells lacked PTK activity and failed to kill virally infected target cells even after cross-linking of CD4 molecules. The CD$4^+$cross-linking failed to induce effector cell proliferation or the transcription of TNF${\beta}$ Upregulation of TNF${\beta}$ was induced by incubating the antibody activated effector cells with BHV-1 infected D17 target cells for 10 h. Anti-TNF${\beta}$ antibody partially abolished (13-44%) the direct effector cell-mediated antiviral cytotoxicity. However, this antibody neutralized 70 to 100% of antiviral activity of effector and target cell culture supernatants against BHV-1 infected D17 cells. The inhibition level of the antiviral activity by the antibody was dependent on the effector and target cell ratio. These results support the hypothesis that increased p$56^ICK enzyme activity in effector cells transduces a signal critical for effector cell recognition of viral glycoproteins expressed on the target cells. Following target cell recognition, lytic cytokines known to participate in target cell killing were produced. This paper proposes an ATR (Automatic Target Recognition) algorithm for identifying non-occluded and occluded military vehicles in natural FLIR (Forward Looking InfraRed) images. After segmenting a target, a radial function is defined from the target boundary to extract global shape features. Also, to extract local shape features of upper region of a target, a distance function is defined from boundary points and a line between two extreme points. From two functions and target contour, four global and four local shape features are proposed. They are much more invariant to translation, rotation and scale transform than traditional feature sets. In the experiments, we show that the proposed feature set is superior to the traditional feature sets with respect to the similarity-transform invariance and recognition performance.

This paper presents a algorithm for automatic target recognition robust to the influence of the flame in order to track the target by EOTS(Electro-Optical Targeting System) equipped on UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) when there is aerial target or marine target with flame at the same time. The proposed method converts infrared images of targets and flames into a gradient vector field, and applies each gradient magnitude to a polynomial curve fitting technique to extract polynomial coefficients, and learns them in a shallow neural network model to automatically recognize targets and flames. The performance of the proposed technique was confirmed by utilizing the various infrared image database of the target and flame. Using this algorithm, it can be applied to areas where collision avoidance, forest fire detection, automatic detection and recognition of targets in the air and sea during automatic flight of unmanned aircraft.
For speech recognition systems, rejection function as well as decoding function is necessary to improve the reliability. There have been many research efforts on out-of-vocabulary word rejection, however, little attention has been paid on non-target sentence rejection. Recently pronunciation approaches using speech recognition increase the need for non-target sentence rejection to provide more accurate and robust results. In this paper, we proposed filler model method and word/phoneme detection ratio method to implement non-target sentence rejection system. We made performance evaluation of filler model along to word-level, phoneme-level, and sentence-level filler models respectively. We also perform the similar experiment using word-level and phoneme-level word/phoneme detection ratio method. For the performance evaluation, the minimized average of FAR and FRR is used for comparing the effectiveness of each method along with the number of words of given sentences. From the experimental results, we got to know that word-level method outperforms the other methods, and word-level filler mode shows slightly better results than that of word detection ratio method.
With the continuous development of deep learning, human behavior recognition algorithms have achieved good results. However, in a multi-person recognition environment, the complex behavior environment poses a great challenge to the efficiency of recognition. To this end, this paper proposes a multi-person pose estimation model. First of all, the human detectors in the top-down framework mostly use the two-stage target detection model, which runs slow down. The single-stage YOLOv3 target detection model is used to effectively improve the running speed and the generalization of the model. Depth separable convolution, which further improves the speed of target detection and improves the model's ability to extract target proposed regions; Secondly, based on the feature pyramid network combined with context semantic information in the pose estimation model, the OHEM algorithm is used to solve difficult key point detection problems, and the accuracy of multi-person pose estimation is improved; Finally, the Euclidean distance is used to calculate the spatial distance between key points, to determine the similarity of postures in the frame, and to eliminate redundant postures.
This paper describes the design and implementation of a System-on-a-Chip (SoC) for face recognition to use in wearable/mobile products. The design flow starts from the system specification to implementation process on silicon. The entire process is carried out using a FPGA-based prototyping platform environment for design and verification of the target SoC. To ensure that the implemented face recognition SoC satisfies the required performances metrics, time analysis and recognition tests were performed. The motivation behind the work is a single chip implementation of face recognition system for target applications.
