차대동력계를 이용한 대형 디젤 차량의 매연 배출 특성 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Smoke Emissions from Heavy Duty Diesel Vehicles Using a Chassis Dynamometer)

  • The characteristics of smoke emissions from diesel heavy duty vehicles which weigh over 5.5 tons was investigated by driving the vehicles with both the Lugdown 3 modes in the chassis dynamometer and tree accelerating mode under no load. The vehicles include commercial vehicles such as bus, microbus, trucks and specialized vehicles, etc. The total numbers of the vehicles tested were 200. The light extinction method was used to measure the smoke emissions from the vehicles tail pipe. The values of the smoke emissions in the tree accelerating mode showed $0{\sim}20%$ band nearly independent of both the mileage and year of production of the tested vehicles, while those in the Lugdown 3 modes showed $0{\sim}99%$ of wide band. The correlation coefficients between the values of the smoke emissions with both the Lugdown 3 modes and the free acceleration mode were 0.12, 0.08, 0.12, respectively. The inspection with Lugdown 3 modes is better one than that with tree acceleration from the point of exact inspection of the diesel vehicles' smoke emission.

Diesel, DME, Bio-diesel 연료가 실제 도로 주행 조건에서 입자상물질 배출에 미치는 영향 파악 (On-road Investigation of PM Emissions according to Vehicle Fuels (Diesel, DME, and Bio-diesel))

  • To measure the traffic pollutants with high temporal and spatial resolution under real conditions, a mobile emission laboratory (MEL) was designed. The equipment of the mini-van provides gas phase measurements of CO, NOx, CO2 and THC (Total hydrocarbon), and number density & size distribution measurements of fine and ultra-fine particles by a fast mobility particle sizer (FMPS) and a condensation particle counter (CPC). The inlet sampling port above the bumper enables the chasing of different type of vehicles. This paper introduces the technical details of the MEL and presents data from the experiment in which a MEL chases a city bus fuelled by diesel, DME and Bio-diesel. The dilution ratio was calculated by the ratio of ambient NOx and tail-pipe NOx. Most particles from the bus fuelled by diesel were counted under 300 nm and the peak concentration of the particles was located between 30 and 60 nm. However, most particles in the exhaust of the bus fuelled by DME were nano-particles (diameter: less than 50 nm). The bus fuelled by Bio-diesel shows less particle emissions compare to diesel bus due to the presence of the oxygen in the fuel.

  • Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) is an emission control technology allowing significant NOx emission reduction from light-and heavy duty diesel engines. The future EGR type, dual loop EGR, combining features of high pressure loop EGR and low pressure loop EGR, was developed and optimized by using a commercial engine simulation program, GT-POWER. Some variables were selected to control dual loop EGR system such as VGT (Variable Geometry Turbocharger)performance, especially turbo speed, flap valve opening diameter at the exhaust tail pipe, and EGR valve opening diameter. Applying the dual loop EGR system in the light-duty diesel engine might cause some problems, such as decrease of engine performance and increase of brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC). So proper EGR rate (or mass flow) control would be needed because there are trade-offs of two types of the EGR (HPL and LPL) features. In this study, a diesel engine under dual loop EGR system was optimized by using design of experiment (DoE). Some dominant variables were determined which had effects on torque, BSFC, NOx, and EGR rate. As a result, optimization was performed to compensate the torque and BSFC by controlling start of injection (SOI), injection mass and EGR valves, etc.

Changes in Concentration Levels of Polycyclic Aromatic Compounds Associated with Airborne Particulate Matter in Downtown Tokyo after Introducing Government Diesel Vehicle Controls

  • The effectiveness of the government regulation on tail-pipe emission for diesel vehicles issued in 2003 in Tokyo was evaluated in this study. Variations in annual average concentrations of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and nitro-PAHs associated with airborne particulate matter were investigated in connection with the variation in airborne elemental carbon (EC) concentration in downtown Tokyo, Japan in 2006-2007 and in 1997-1998. The annual average concentrations of EC, seven different PAHs, and 1-nitropyrene were found to have decreased significantly from 1997-1998 to 2006-2007. The most prominent decrease in atmospheric concentration was observed for 1-nitropyrene, which is a representative nitro-PAH originating from diesel vehicles. This indicated that the government control has worked to considerably reduce both atmospheric mutagens and airborne particulate matter. In contrast, the concentrations of two nitro-PAHs, 2-nitrofluoranthene and 2-nitropyrene, remained the same. These nitro-PAHs are known to be formed by atmospheric nitration of their parent PAHs, and this result suggested factors other than the concentration of parent PAHs and $NO_2$ affects the degree of atmospheric formation of nitro-PAHs.

침강지내 비점성하상의 세굴 지배인자에 대한 실험적 해석 (Experimental Analysis of the Parameters Governing Scour in Plunge Pool with Cohesionless Bed Material)

  • 기연구 발표된 수많은 세굴 예측공식들은 여수로나 관암거 하류의 침강지내에서 발생하는 실제 세굴 깊이나 세굴 방지에 필요한 최소 침강지수심을 예측하기가 불가능할 정도로 광범위한 예측치를 나타내고 있다. 이같은 광범위한 예측 세굴 깊이는 대부분 세굴 지배인자에 대한 심도깊은 연구의 부족에 따른 인자들의 지나친 단순화에 기인하고 있다는 것을 문헌조사를 통하여 알수 있었다. 따라서 본 연구는 실험을 통하여 세굴을 지배하는 주요 지배인자들의 영향을 검토하였다. 문헌조사로부터 찾을 수 있었던 세굴 지배인자는 침강지수심, ?의 크기와 폭기정도, 하상입자의 입도분포 및 노출도 등이었으며 본 연구에서는 ?의 수리학적 특성 및 침강지 수면에서의 입사각, 침강지의 기하학적 특성, 그리고 ?의 크기 및 하상입자 크기의 영향을 중점적으로 검토하였다. 그 결과 침강지 수심과 ?의 수리학적 특성 및 기하하적 특성, 그리고 하상입자의 크기 등이 세굴을 지배하는 주요인자임을 알 수 있었다. 특히 기존 실험연구들의 광범위한 세굴 예측치는 ?의 크기와 하상입자의 크기에 대한 기하학적 상사법칙을 무시함에 기인하였음을 발견하였다.

미시적 탄소배출량 및 대기확산 모형을 이용한 이동오염원에 의한 대기 질 영향 분석 (Impact Analysis of Air Quality of Mobile Sources using Microscopic Emission and Dispersion Model)

  • PURPOSES : The objective of this study is to investigate the capability of the combined model of traffic simulation, emission and air dispersion models on the impact analysis of air quality of mobile sources such as vehicles. METHODS : The improvement of the quality of life brings about the increasing interest of the public environment. Many endeavors including the travel demand management, the application of the state-of-the-art ITS technologies, the promotion of eco-friendly vehicles have been tried in transportation area to reduce the modal emissions. Especially, it is expected that the increasing number of eco-friendly vehicles in the road network would be able to reduce the pipe-tail emissions tremendously. From this perspective, we have performed a study on the impact analysis of the popularization of the eco-friendly vehicle in the place of the fossil fuel energy powered vehicles on the surrounding air quality using the combined framework of microscopic traffic simulation, emission and air dispersion model. RESULTS : The combined model successfully captured the effect of moving to the eco-friendly vehicles on the air quality, and the results showed that the increasing usage of eco-friendly vehicles can improve the surrounding air quality tremendously and that the air dispersion model plays a crucial role in the investigation of the air quality change around the main corridor. CONCLUSIONS : This study demonstrated the capability of the combined model showing the spatio-tempral change of emission concentration.

This paper introduces the technical details of the MEL and presents data from the car chasing experiment of diesel bus equipped with aftertreatment system. The dilution ratio was calculated by the ratio of ambient NOx and tail-pipe NOx. Most particles from the diesel bus were counted under 300 nm and the peak concentration of the particles was located between 30 and 60 nm. The total PM number emission from diesel bus equipped with DPF was 10 orders of magnitude lower compared to those emitted from base diesel bus. And the total PM number emission from diesel bus equipped with SCR was comparable to the particle emission from base diesel bus.

자동차 대기오염물질 산정 방법론 설정에 관한 비교 연구 (강남구의 실시간 교통량 자료를 이용하여) (Comparative Study on the Methodology of Motor Vehicle Emission Calculation by Using Real-Time Traffic Volume in the Kangnam-Gu)

  • 대도시에서 자동차는 1차 대기오염물질의 가장 큰 발생원 중의 하나이기 때문에 자동차 오염물질을 감소시키기 위한 수많은 저감 대책이 추진되고 있다. 이러한 저감 대책 연구의 대표적인 특징은 대기오염물질의 배출목록 자료의 구축 시 오염물질의 정량성과 공간적인 분포성에 대한 것이다. 자동차 오염물질을 산정 할 때 배출목록은 활동도 통계와 차종별 배출계수 자료 등이 수집되어야 한다. 대부분의 배출목록은 개별조사나 교통모델에 의한 수동적인 자료로서 자료가 수집되는 순간부터 과거 자료가 되는 특성을 지닌다. 따라서, 최근의 추세는 도시 교통제어시스템과 자동차가 주변 환경에 미치는 영향 평가의 결합에 대한 연구가 추진되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 실시간 교통 자료를 이용한 이동오염원의 배출량을 평가하기 위한 산출 기법을 비교하여 배출량 자료구축의 방향을 설정하고자 하였다. 대상지역에서 대표적인 자동차 오염물질 중 CO의 배출량을 산정 하였다. 교통자료는 서울시 강남구 지역(강남대로-영동대로와 역삼로-양재대로 축)에 설치되어 있는 교차로 검지기에서 수집되는 첨단교통신호시스템의 실시간 교통정보를 이용하였다. 실시간 교통정보 중 시간대별 통과 교통량과 통과속도 자료를 이용하여 시간대별 평균주행속도에 따른 배출계수와 각 도로의 길이를 고려하여 각 도로별·시간대별로 자동차에서 배출되는 CO 배출량을 산정 하였다. 또한, 기존의 차종별 일일평균주행거리에 의한 방법으로 산정한 결과와 비교하여 각각의 방법에 따른 장·단점을 파악하여 자동차 대기오염물질 배출량 산정방법론을 제시하고자 하였다.5 nm 부근과 410nm 부근의 두 부분에서 최대 파장을 나타내는 것으로 보아 410 nm 부근이 파장은 180일 이후에 형성되는 것으로 보인다. 또한 오늘날 주거형태 변화에 따라 담금용기를 항아리에 유리병으로 달리하여 보았을 때 맛과 향미, 색의 면에서 유리병에 담근 간장이 바람직하지 못한 결과를 나타내었다.), Scene editor, Spatial analyzer(Intersect, Buffering, Network analysis), VRML exporter. While, most other 3D GISes or cartographic mapping systems may be categorized into 3D visualization systems handling terrain height-field processing, 2D GIS extension modules, or 3D geometric feature generation system using orthophoto image: actually, these are eventually considered as several parts of "real 3D GIS". As well as these things, other components, especially web-based 3D GIS, are being implemented in this study: Surface/feature integration, Java/VRML linkage, Mesh/Grid problem, LOD(Level of Detail)
