SNG Production characteristics of various coal type and gasifier (석탄 종류 및 가스화기 종류별 SNG 생산 특성)

  • 국내 및 세계의 천연가스 수요가 증가하고, 원유가 상승에 의한 천연가스의 지속적인 가격상승이 예측됨에 따라 천연가스의 99%를 수입에 의존하는 우리나라의 에너지 안보 확보 방안을 위한 기술개발이 필요하다. 국내에서 천연가스를 확보할 수 있는 현실적인 방법중의 하나는 석탄가스화를 통해 얻어진 합성가스를 이용하여 SNG(synthetic Natural Gas, 합성천연가스)를 제조하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 다양한 석탄, 다양한 석탄 가스화기를 적용하는 경우에 대한 CASE별 공정해석을 수행하여 각 경우의 SNG 생산 특성을 파악하였다. 석탄의 종류는 역청탄, 아역청탄, 갈탄을 대상으로 하였으며, 역청탄을 사용하는 경우는 General Electric Energy(GEE), Shell Global Solutions(Shell), ConocoPhillips(CoP)사의 가스화기를, 아역청탄을 사용하는 경우는 KBR의 TRIG$^{TM}$, Siemens사의 SFG, Shell, CoP 가스화기를, 갈탄을 사용하는 경우는 Shell, Siemens 가스화기를 적용하였다. 사용한 석탄과 석탄가스화기에서 발생된 합성가스 조성은 NETL에서 발행된 보고서에 제시된 수치들을 활용하였다. 역청탄을 사용하고 CoP 가스화기를 적용한 경우, SNG 합성공정에 유입되는 유량이 100 Nm3/h 일 때, 생산되는 SNG의 조성은 $CH_4$ 96.26%, $H_2$ 1.49%, $CO_2$ 0.69%, CO 0.004% 이고 생산유량은 24 Nm3/h 였다. SNG 효율을 SNG 합성공정에 공급되는 합성가스 열량 대비 최종 생산되는 SNG의 열량을 기준으로 하고, 각 CASE 별 SNG 효율을 살펴보면, 역청탄을 대상으로 한 경우 GEE 74.05%, CoP 76.65%였다. 아역청탄을 대상으로 한 경우 TRIG 78.14%, Siemens 71.22%, CoP 75.72%였고, 갈탄을 대상으로 하는 경우 Shell 71.48%, Siemens 71.49%였다. 역청탄을 사용하는 경우는 CoP 가스화기를 대상으로 한 경우 SNG 효율 및 생산량이 가장 높았고, 아역청탄을 사용하는 경우는 TRIG 가스화기를 대상으로 한 경우의 SNG 효율 및 생산량이 높았다. 갈탄을 사용하는 경우는 Shell 가스화기와 Siemens 가스화기가 거의 비슷한 결과를 나타내었다. $$SNG\;efficiency({\eta})={\frac{Q_B}{Q_A}}={\frac{Q_{SNG}(kcal/h)}{Q_{Syngas}(kcal/h)}}{\times}100(%)$$.

  • 석석탄가스화 기술은 고온, 고압 조건에서 미분탄과 산소의 가스화 반응에 의해 CO와 $H_2$가 주성분인 합성가스를 제조하는 기술로서 차세대 화력발전 뿐만아니라 다양한 화학원료 제조를 위한 분야에서 각광을 받고 있다. 또한, 가스화 기술은 향후 CCS기술, CTL(Coal To Liquid, 석탄액화)기술, SNG(Synthetic Natural Gas, 합성천연가스)생산, 수소생산, 각종 화학원료 생산 등과 연계가 가능한 미래 석탄이용 분야의 핵심 기술이라 할 수 있다. 따라서, 고등기술연구원에서는 이러한 석탄가스화를 통해 양질의 합성가스를 제조하기 위한 기술 개발의 일환으로 pilot급 고온, 고압 건식 분류층 가스화기, 기류수송 방식의 미분탄공급장치, 수냉자켓 구조의 합성가스 냉각장치, 합성가스 중 분진제거를 위한 금속필터 장착 집진장치 등을 연계하여 20기압의 고압 조건에서 장시간 연속운전을 진행하였다. 본 연구에서는 미분탄 공급을 위하여 상부공급 버너를 적용하였고 석탄가스화기는 $1,300{\sim}1,350^{\circ}C$ 정도의 온도에서 운전을 진행하였으며 미분탄을 75 kg/h의 조건에서 연속적으로 공급하였다. 그리고, 이러한 조건에서 5.5일 정도의 연속운전을 진행하는 동안 CO 44~48%, $H_2$ 20~21%, $CO_2$ 4~5% 조성의 석탄 합성가스를 $200Nm^3/h$ 안정적으로 제조할 수 있었다.

  • Volatile flavor components of garlic and factors which influence on its flavors were reviewed. Growth, storage and processing conditions influence on the flavor intensity of garlic. To intensify garlic flavors, it is desirable that sufficient sulfate nutrition be supplied to the soil of growing garlic and that the suggested proportions of mineral composition and water content be considered. And to maintain the flavor intensity of post harvested garlic, flavor losses taken place during over inter storage mainly due to respiration, sprout and decay, have to be minimized. Among the various storage methods, combination method of post harvest hot-air drying and low temperature ($0^{\circ}C$), low humidity (RH 70-75%) is useful. The flavor of processed garlic is very much decreased as compared with that of fresh, and the decreasing rate of flavors depends on processing method. The synthetic garlic flavors were obtained by three types based on intermediate thiosulfinate, S-alk(en) yl-$\small{L}$-cyteine sulfoxlde-alliinase fission products and $\small{L}$-5-alk (en)yl thiomethylhydantoin ${\pm}$ S-oxides. These synthetic garlic flavors may be promised to be applied to food additives.

Essential Oil Isolated from Iranian Yarrow as a Bio-rational Agent to the Management of Saw-toothed Grain Beetle, Oryzaephilus surinamensis (L.) (머리대장가는납작벌레의 합리적 방제 물질로 이란 서양가새풀 정유의 살충효과 평가)

  • Overuse of synthetic pesticides caused negative side-effects such as environmental contamination, development of insect pests' resistance, and effects on non-target organisms. Plant origin substances without/or with low mammalian toxicity have been considered as promising alternatives to the synthetic pesticides. Fumigant toxicity of the essential oil of Iranian Yarrow, Achillea millefolium L., was investigated against a cosmopolitan stored-product insect pest: saw-toothed grain beetle (Oryzaephilus surinamensis L.). Chemical profile of this essential oil was studied by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry. Tested concentrations were significantly effective to the mortality of insect pest. A positive correlation between essential oil concentrations and pest mortality were realized. LC50 value (lethal concentration needed to 50% mortality) was achieved as $17.977(16.195{\pm}20.433){\mu}l/l$ air. The main components were 1,8-Cineole (13.17%), nerolidol (12.87%), ${\alpha}$-cubebene (12.35%), artemisia ketone (6.69%), ${\alpha}$-terpineol (5.27%), alloaromadendrene oxide (4.71%) and borneol (3.99%). Terpenic compounds including monoterpene hydrocarbons (8.19%), monoterpenoids (44.23%), sesquiterpene hydrocarbons (21.69%) and sesquiterpenoids (22.24%) were 96.35% of the total identified compounds. Results indicated that the terpene-rich A. millefolium essential oil may be considered as a safe bio-agent in the O. surinamensis management.

Conversion Characteristics of MSW at Various Pyrolytic and Oxidative Conditions (열분해 및 산화조건에서 MSW의 물질전환특성 연구)

  • Thermal gravimetric change characteristics and gas phase product - CO, NO, $NO_2$, VOCs - generated in the process of pyrolysis and oxidation. were investigated with variation of process parameters including furnace reactor temperature both in pyrolytic and oxidative conditions. For the thermal gravimetric change characteristics. paper and wood were mainly decomposed at lower temperatures and they had similar thermal gravimetric change trend due to their similar compositions; plastics were mainly decomposed at higher temperatures; in the case of textile. natural compounds were decomposed at lower temperatures and synthetic compounds at relatively higher temperatures; food was decomposed in the wide range of temperatures possibly due to their different kinds of components. For the analysis results of gas phase product. the concentrations of NO, $NO_2$ were detected at higher level at the oxidative conditions than at the pyrolytic conditions except that of CO, which is due to complete combustion with sufficient oxygen at the oxidative condition; food gave off CO, NO, $NO_2$ more than the other wastes. VOCs were emitted more at the pyrolytic conditions than at the oxidative conditions.

  • The female moths of Lepidoptera comprising over 1,000,000 described species possess long-chain unsaturated alcohols or esters as the typical structure of potential sex attractants. In this experiment, various stereoisomers of $C_{16}-unsaturated$ acetates were synthesized for potential sex attractants; e.g., $CH_3(CH_2)_mCH=CH(CH_2)_nOR$ (m=0-12, n=1-13, R=H and $-COCH_3$). Seventeen acetates were spectrometrically examined so that the data would provide a ready catalog of gas chromatography and mass spectrometric data for comparison with natural insect sex attractants. Exclusively cis and trans isomers were obtained by the catalytic and chemical reduction methods, respectively. Commercially available $CH_3(CH_2)_mBr,\;CH_3(CH_2)_mC{\equiv}CH,\;HC{\equiv}C(CH_2)_nOH\;and\;HO(CH_2)_n\;OH$ were used for the synthetic starting material. 1-Alkynes, $CH_3(CH_2)_m\;C{\equiv}CH$ exceeding nine methylene groups did not condense with alkyl dihalides. The yield of coupling products was gradually decreased with increasing the molecular weight of diols. In the coupling reaction of $BrCH_2CH_2$ OTHP with acetylene gas, the tetrahydropyranyl ether of bromohydrin produced undesirable elimination product. In this experiment, it seems that p-toluenesulfonic acid is greatly favoured hydrolyzing agent over dilute sulfuric acid in the hydrolysis of the tetrahydropyranyl ether of long-chain alkynols.

Nonvolatile Flavor Components in Chinese Quince Fruits, Chaenomeles sinensis koehne (모과의 비휘발성 Flavor 성분에 관한 연구)

  • This study was performed to identify detailed informations on the nonvolatile flavor of Chinese quince fruits, Chaenomeles sinensis koehne. About 72% of the free amino acids were shown to be valine, asparagine, ${\gamma}-aminobutyric\;acid$, aspartic acid and serine. Arginine, tyrosine, methionine and tryptophan were not present. Glutamic acid and glutamine as a amino acid for peptides were the major components, whereas cysteic acid, methionine sulfone and tryptophan were not detected. The nucleotides attained were composed of cytosine, uridine-5'-monophosphate and cytidine-5'-monophosphate, and these were proved to be a very small quantity. Guanosine-5'-monophosphate, inosine-5'-monophosphate and adenosine-5'-monophosphate were not present. The major sugars were shown to be glucose, sorbose, sucrose and fructose. Fructose was the most abundant one among them. A total of 11 organic acids were identified by capillary gas chromatography and capillary gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The major components identified were tartaric acid and α-ketoglutaric acid. The total content of vitamin C determined was 386.6mg%, and those of ascorbic, dehydroascorbic, and 2, 3-diketo-L-gulonic acid were 28.8mg%, 154.5mg% and 197.3mg%, respectively. Calcium and phosphorus were the major components, while heavy metals such as cadmium, copper and lead were determined to be a small amount. In the result of organoleptic test on the natural and synthetic extract of Chinese quince fruits, the principal taste components consisted of free amino acids, sugars, organic acids, vitamin C and minerals. Five groups mentioned would have a favorable influence upon the taste of fresh Chinese quince fruits.

Effects of yeast and dried kratom leaves (Mitragyna speciosa [Korth] Havil.) supplementation on digestibility, rumen fermentation, blood metabolites and nitrogen balance in goats

  • Objective: The objective of the experiment was to study yeast supplementation (yeast, Y) and dried kratom leaves (DKTL) on the digestibility, ruminal fermentation, blood metabolites and nitrogen balance in goats. Methods: Four of 7 to 8 months old male crossbred (50% Thai Native-Anglo Nubian) goats with average liveweight 20±0.13 kg were randomly assigned according to a 2×2 factorial arrangement in a 4×4 Latin square design to receive four diets ad libitum basis. The study investigated the effects of two levels of yeast (Y) supplementation (Y, 0 and 0.5g/kg dry matter [DM]) along with two levels of DKTL supplementation (DKTL, 0 and 4.44g/kg DM). The experimental groups were as follows: T1 = control group with 0Y+0DKTL, T2 = 0Y+4.44 DKTL, T3 = 0.5Y+0DKTL, and T4 = 0.5Y+4.44 DKTL. Results: The results showed that there were no interactions between Y levels and DKTL levels with respect to total DM intake, but there were significant effects (p<0.05) by levels of Y; goats receiving 0.05 g/kg DM Y had higher than goats fed 0.0 g/kg DM on average (kg/d). A percentage of body weight (% BW) and grams per kilogram of metallic weight (g/kg w0.75) had no influence on yeast levels and DKTL, but there was a difference (p<0.05) by yeast level Y at 0.5 g/kg DM, being higher compared to the non-supplemented group. Apparent digestibility coefficient of nutrition in the form of (DM, organic matter, crude protein, neutral detergent fiber, and acid detergent fiber) was an increased trend in the Y-level complementary group at 0.5 g/kg DM and DKTL at 4.44 g/kg DM, respectively. Protozoa populations decreased in the group receiving Y levels at 0.5 g/kg DM and DKTL levels at 4.44 g/kg DM when compared to group T1. The acetic acid concentration and methane gas generation decreased (p<0.05) in the group receiving Y levels of 0.5 g/kg DM and DKTL levels of 4.44 g/kg DM, while the amount of propionic acid increased (p<0.05). Conclusion: Effects of feeding combinations of Y and DKTL supplementation on feed showed no interaction effect (Y×DKTL) on feed intake, rumen fermentation, bacterial and fungi population. The effect on protozoal populations was lower in the group that was supplemented with DKTL at 4.44 g/kg DM related to synthetic CH4 was reduced.
