  • This paper deals with optimum design criteria to minimize the torque ripple of a concentrated winding Synchronous Reluctance Motor(SynRM) using Response Surface Methodology(RSM). The feasibility of using RSM with the finite element method(FEM) in practical engineering problem is investigated with omputational examples and comparison between the fitted response and the results obtained from an analytical solution according to the design variables of stator and rotor in concentrated winding SynRM(6slot). The focus of this paper is the efficiency evaluation on the basis of load condition in a Concentrated Winding Synchronous Reluctance Motor and distributed Winding Synchronous Reluctance Motor.

  • 본 논문은 PMASynRM과 SynRM의 토크, 속도응답, 효율등을 실험을 통해 비교분석 하였다. 이러한 비교는 같은 조건상태에서의 PMASynRM이 SynRM보다 성능이 저가의 영구자석(ferrite)을 삽입함으로서 개선됨을 확인 하였다.

  • This study investigates the dynamic characteristics of Synchronous Reluctance Motor (SynRM), with segmental rotor structure, using finite element method in which the moving mesh technique is considered. The focus of this paper is the efficiency of on-line parameter identification system for position sensorless control of a SynRM considering saturation and iron loss. Comparisons are given with angle of the observer and those of proposed FEM & Preisach model of synchronous reluctance motor, respectively. The position sensorless control using identified motor parameters is realized, and the efficiency of the on-line parameter identification system is verified by experimental results.

  • This paper reports the development of an analysis method in a synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM) using the finite element method (FEM) coupled with the electromagnetic field of the Preisach model, which represents an additional thermal source due to hysteresis loss and a thermal field. This study focused on thermal analysis relative to hysteresis and copper losses in a SynRM.

  • This paper presents characteristics of SynRM(Synchronous Reluctance Motor) that is compared with a high speed induction motor. SynRM is much suitable for high speed electric machines because of structural robustness. There are many kinds of SynRM according to the shape of rotors. Particularly, axially laminated anisotropic (ALA) rotor is suitable for high speed instruments. Characteristics of SynRM with ALA rotor is obtained from a governing voltage and torque equation mainly composed of d-axis and q-axis inductance that will be identified with finite element method.

  • This paper deals with the characteristics analysis & optimum design of Synchronous Reluctance Motor (SynRM) with anisotropy rotor using a coupled Finite Element Method (FEM) & Response Surface Methodology (RSM). The focus of this paper is the characteristics analysis & optimum design relative to the output power on the basis of rotor materials of a SynRM. The coupled Finite Elements Analysis (FEA) & Preisach model have been used to evaluate nonlinear solutions. Comparisons are given with characteristics of normal synchronous reluctance motor and those of anisotropy rotor SynRM (ANISO-SynRM), respectively. The feasibility of using RSM with FEM in practical engineering problem is investigated with computational examples and comparison between the fitted response and the results obtained from an analytical solution according to the design variables of rotor in anisotropy rotor SynRM.

  • In this paper, LS-SynRM (Line Start-Synchronous Reluctance Motor) has been attracting attention in replace of induction motor which hardly provides high efficiency. Compared to induction motor, LS-SynRM has better efficiency per unit area. This study demonstrated the electromagnetic design methods of LS-SynRM while maintaining the frame of existing IE3 induction motor for blower. We documented the design procedures for generating high saliency which is the most essential and mechanical stress analysis is also treated. In conclusion, we proved the validity of our design by manufacturing and testing our LS-SynRM models.

  • This study investigates the hysteresis phenomena of a Synchronous Reluctance Motor (SynRM) using coupled FEM and Preisach modeling. Preisach's model, which allows accurate prediction of hysteresis, is adopted in this procedure to provide a nonlinear solution. the computer simulation and experimental result for the i$\lambda$loci show the propriety of the proposed method.

  • The performance of a Synchronous Reluctance Motor (SynRM) in terms of torque and power factor depends on the two-axis inductances $L_d$ and $L_q$ of the machine. The Axially Laminated Anisotropic (ALA) rotor should be proposed in an effort to increase the $L_d/L_q$ ratio and the $L_d-L_q$ difference to secure high torque density and high power factor. So, ALA rotor is suitable for high speed instruments. This paper deals with optimum design of Axially Laminated Anisotropic Synchronous Reluctance Motor (ALA-SynRM) and comparison of characteristics with induction motor. Coupled Finite Element Methodology (FEM) & Response Surface Methodology (RSM) have been used to evaluate optimum design solutions. Comparisons are given with characteristics of a same rated wattage induction motor and those of ALA-SynRM respectively.
