Recently, the span length of long-span bridges is getting longer. As a result, it has been suggested that a new concept called 'super long-span bridge'. In case of super long span bridges, the structure is being complicated and the importance of structural stability is being emphasized. However, until recently, the most commonly used sensors (dual axis clinometer, anemometer, strain gauge, etc.) have got limit about the bridge monitoring. Consequently, we researched the application of a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) to improve the limit of the existing sensors. In this study, the dual axis clinometer, the anemometer and the strain gauge together with the GNSS were used to analyze the behavior of a super-long suspension bridge. Also, we propose the detailed method of bridge monitoring using the GNSS. This study consisted of three steps. First step calculated the absolute coordinates of the towers and the longitudinal axis direction of the study bridge using the GNSS. In second step, through the analysis of the long-term behavior in shortly after construction, we calculated the permanent displacement and evaluated the stability of main towers. Third step analyzed the behavior of bridge by the wind direction and was numerically indicated. Consequently, the bridge measurement using the GNSS appeared that the acquired data is able to easy processing according to the analysis purpose. If we will use together the existing measurement sensors with the GNSS on the maintenance of the super long-span bridge, we figure each error of measurement data and improve the monitoring system through calibration. As a result, we acquire the accurate displacement of bridge and figure the behavior of bridge. Consequently, we identified that it is able to construct the effective monitoring system.

In this study, the crack healing performance of each crack healing agent manufacturing method was analyzed by adding crack healing agents in the form of alginate gel and spore suspension inoculated with endospores of calcium carbonate-forming bacteria to mortar. In addition, by applying it to an full-scale structure in the form of a box-type culvert, we attempted to create an environment in which the developed crack healing agent can be applied not only to a laboratory environment but also to an actual field. The crack healing agent using the dry heat drying method showed crack healing performance, but in the case of the freeze drying method, many spores were killed by freeze hardening and therefore the crack healing performance was lost. As a result of SEM and XRD pattern analysis of the presumed crack healing material extracted from the crack of a full-scale structure, it was found to be calcite, one of the calcium carbonate crystals produced by microorganisms applied to the crack healing agent. In conclusion, it was found that the crack healing by microorganisms can be implemented in a real structure.

Two Cretaceous(80-90 Ma) non-marine sedimentary basins, Namyang and Tando Basins, are distributed in the Namyang area, Hwaseonggun and in the Tando area, Ansanshi, Kyungki Province, Korea. The Namyang and Tando Basins are composed of 10 facies, which are pooped into 5 facies associations(FA). FA I consists of massive conglomerate facies, normally graded conglomerate facies and reversely graded conglomerate facies, which is interpreted to have been formed by laminated sandstone facies, massive conglomerate facies(channelized), which is thought to have been formed by sheet flow, stream flow and suspension sedimentation in an alluvial/braided plain environment. FA III consists of massive mudstone(pebbly) facies, laminated mudstone facies, massive sandstone facies and is interbedded by channel-fill conglomerate. It is interpreted to have been deposited by suspension settling during flooding and channel-fill deposition in a floodplain environment. FA IV consists of massive conglomerate facies, normally graded conglomerate facies, massive sandstone facies, normally graded sandstone facies, and laminated sandstone facies and is interbedded with mudstone facies. It is thought to have been deposited by debris flow and turbidity current in a fan-delta environment. FA V consists of massive mudstone facies, laminated mudstone facies, laminated sandstone facies and is interbedded by massive conglomerate bed. It is thought to have been formed by suspension sedimentation and low-density turbidity current in a lake. In the Namyang Basin FA I is distributed in the eastern and southern margin of the basin, FA II in the middle part of the basin as north-south tending band. and FA III in the western part. In the Tando Basin FA II is distributed in the middle part of eastern margin and in the northwestern margin, FA IV in the southwestern part, and FA V in the central part. Correlation of the facies associations shows that FA I and II in the Namyang Basin are distributed in the lower to middle part of stratigraphic sequence and FA III in the upper part of the sequence whereas FA II and IV in the Tando Basin are in the lower to middle part and FA V in the upper part of the sequence. These patterns of facies associations distribution suggest that the Namyang Basin was developed as an alluvial fan and alluvial/braided plain at first and then evolved into a floodplain whereas the Tando Basin was developed as a fan-delta and alluvial/braided plain at first and then evolved into a lake environment.
Purpose: ((R)-1-(2-chlorophenyl)-N-1-[$^{11}$C]methyl-N(1-propyl)-3-isoquinoline carboxamide ((R)-PK11195) is a specific ligand for the peripheral type benzodiazepine receptor and a marker of activated microglia, used to measure inflammation in neurologic disorders. We report here that a direct and simple radiosynthesis of [$^{11}$C](R)-PK11195 in mild condition using NaH suspension in DMF and one-step loop method. Materials and Methods: (R)-N-Desmethyl-PK11195 (1 mg) in DMSO (0.1 mL) and NaH suspension in DMF (0.1 mL) were injected into a semi-prep HPLC loop. [$^{11}$C]methyl iodide was passed through HPLC loop at room temperature. Purification was performed using semi-preparative HPLC. Aliquots eluted at 11.3 min were collected and analyzed by analytical HPLC and mass spectrometer. Results: The labeling efficiency of [$^{11}$C](R)-PK11195 was 71.8$\pm$8.5%. The specific activity was 11.8:$\pm$6.4 GBq/$\mu$mol and radiochemical purity was higher than 99.2%. The mass spectrum of the product eluted at 11.3 min showed m/z peaks at 353.1 (M+1), indicating the mass and structure of (R)-PK11195. Conclusion: By the one-step loop method with the [$^{11}$C]CH3l automated synthesis module, [$^{11}C$](R)-PK11195 could be easily prepared in high radiochemical yield using NaH suspension in DMF.
A turn-buckle inserted between tension members sustaining structural loads in the suspension structure system is a device capable of adjusting the tensile force. However, it is difficult to measure the tensile force that is applied to the tension member with the use of a conventional turn-buckle. So a measurable turn-buckle for tensile force measurement has been developed to improve on such a problem. This study focuses on the prevention of a local yielding as well as the maximization of yielding load mentioned in previous studies. A new type of turn-buckle for the measurement to practical use is suggested over the tentative purpose. For this purpose, the ABAQUS analysis of specimens based on theoretical analysis and tests are carried out. The differences among the results of the theoretical analysis, ABAQUS analysis, and the test were insignificant.

Since the variations of electromagnetic suspension forces of maglev trains have close relations with the acceleration of the levitated bodies, it is basic to control the levitation forces using the measured acceleration of vehicles. In this study, an airgap control algorithm based on acceleration feedback is applied to maglev trains and a dynamic analysis method is developed considering maglev train-guideway interaction. Using the developed method, dynamic behaviors of a maglev train-guideway interaction system are investigated. It is observed from the analysis that the current design guidelines can be satisfied when the proposed airgap control algorithm is employed. Using the contorl algorithm, the current guidelines can be improved and economical maglev railway guideway structures can be designed.

The aim of this research is to develop a new method to use magnetorheological (MR) damper for vibration control. It is a new way to achieve the MR damper response without the need to have detailed constant parameters estimations. The methodology adopted in designing the control structure in this work is based on the experimental results. In order to investigate and understand the behaviour of an MR damper, an experiment is first conducted. Force-displacement and force-velocity responses with varying current have been established to model the MR damper. The force for upward and downward motions of the damper piston is found to be increasing with current and velocity. In cyclic motion, which is the combination of upward and downward motions of the piston, the force with hysteresis behaviour is seen to be increasing with current. In addition, the energy dissipated is also found to be linear with current. A proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller, based on the established characteristics for a quarter car suspension model, has been adapted in this study. A fuzzy rule based PID controller (F-PID) is opted to achieve better response for a varying frequency input. The outcome of this study can be used in the modelling of MR damper and applied to control engineering. Moreover, the identified behaviour can help in further development of the MR damper technology.

The filamentous Ascomycota Colletotrichum gloeosporioides sensu lato is a fungus that has been reported worldwide as a causal agent of anthracnose disease in avocado and other crops. In Mexico, this species affects fruits from an early stage of development in the orchard until the post-harvest stage. Although fungicides are continuously applied to control Colletotrichum species, pericarp cankers and soft rot mesocarp in fruits are still frequently observed. Considering the lack of a precise description of the causative agent, the aim of the current study was to determine the pathogens involved in this symptomatology. Twenty-four isolates were consistently obtained from the pericarp of avocado fruits cv. "Hass" collected in the central avocado-producing area of Mexico. Morphological features such as colony growth, conidia size, and mycelial appressorium were assessed. Bayesian multilocus phylogenetic analyses were performed using amplified sequences of the internal transcribed spacer region of the nuclear ribosomal DNA; actin, chitin synthase, glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase partial genes; and APn2-Mat1-2 intergenic spacer and mating type Mat1-2 partial gene from the nine selected isolates. In addition, fruits were inoculated with a conidial suspension and reproducible symptoms confirmed the presence of Colletotrichum fructicola in this area. This pathogenic species can now be added to those previously reported in the country, such as C. acutatum, C. boninense, C. godetiae, C. gloeosporioides, and C. karstii. Disease management programs to reduce the incidence of anthracnose should include C. fructicola to determine its response to fungicides that are routinely applied, considering that the appearance of new species is affecting the commercial quality of the fruits and shifting the original population structure.

Due to test facility and specialty, it is physically difficult to conduct the modal tests of large-sized structures such as truck, bus and airplane. So, in case of a large-sized truck, the mode analysis on a full vehicle model comprised of reliable cabin, frame, and deck has been generally performed. However, the reliability of overall vibrational characteristics of the analytic model has not been fairly guaranteed by the testified models of each subsystem owing to the existence of cab suspension and the nonlinear mounting between a chassis frame and a special deck system. In this paper, a method to find out the modal characteristics of a large-sized military truck is presented. New modal test equipment is developed to set the boundary conditions of three military truck variants as close as a free-free condition. And the mode analysis method using coupled structure and dynamic models is established to consider the above-mentioned dynamic non-linearities of the vehicle itself. The usefulness of the suggested method is verified by comparing with the modal test results. Finally, the modal parameters of the final variant are extracted using the proved analytic method.
Spherical phenolic resin beads were synthesized by suspension polymerization at 98 ℃ from phenol, ortho-cresol, formaldehyde, with triethylamine as a basic catalyst, and spherical phenol-cresol copolymer resin beads with relatively low crosslinking density as well. Phenol reacts with formaldehyde at two ortho- and one para- positions to form a crosslinked structure, but ortho-cresol instead of phenol reduces the crosslinking density during copolymerization due to the methyl group at a ortho- position. As a result, spherical phenol-cresol copolymer beads showed more shrinkage with decreasing apparent density compared to the spherical phenol beads when carbonized at 700 ℃ under nitrogen. As the molecular weight of the cresol oligomer increases, the pore radius of the carbonized copolymer beads decreases, which is consistent with the density and shrinkage results. It was confirmed that the characteristics such as density decrease, shrinkage, yield and so on during carbonization can be controlled by controlling the degree of crosslinking of the spherical phenolic resin particles with cresol.
