국내 바이오매스 잠재 가용자원을 이용한 바이오 연료 생산량 및 온실가스 감축효과 분석 (Evaluations of Potential Biofuels and Environmental Implications with Latent Biomass Resources in South Korea)

  • Biofuel based on available biomass in rural area could contribute to increase the vitality and income of rural residents. This study estimates the potential production and environmental benefits of biofuel production from surplus rice, rice straw, cow manure, and food waste in South Korea. We could produce about 2.4 billion liters of ethanol using surplus rice and rice straw and 841 million $m^3$ of methane from cow manure and food waste. 1.7 billion liters of gasoline and 800 million liters of diesel could be replaced with these potential biofuel productions, which can annually reduce 4.9 million ton $CO_2$ eq. GHGs.

  • In this paper, a laboratory investigation was carried out to estimate the strength improvement of quicklime mixture with fly ash and rice husk ash for the effective use of surplus soils, and the shear strength with curing time was estimated at lime 10 percent with the change of fly ash and rice husk ash content. The effect of strength improvement has been established through the change of fly ash and rice husk ash content from the samples taken at Samsan region, Ulsan. The test results indicated that the presence of lime with fly ash and rice husk ash encouraged the stabilization efficiency of lime with fly ash and rice husk ash, and increased shear strength. Furthermore, it is necessary for inquiring into the relationship between the characteristics of strength and the chemical components.

Application of a Simulation Model for Dairy Cattle Production Systems Integrated with Forage Crop Production: the Effects of Whole Crop Rice Silage Utilization on Nutrient Balances and Profitability

  • In Japan, since rice consumption has been decreasing with the westernization of Japanese eating habits, surplus paddy fields have been increasing. If these surplus paddy fields can be utilized for forage rice production as feed for animal production and excretions (feces and urine) from animal production can be applied to the paddy fields as manure, then the problems of surplus paddy fields and excretions from animal production may be solved, and the environment kept sustainable. The objectives of the present study were to apply a bio-economic model to dairy and forage rice integration systems in Japan and to examine the merit of introducing whole crop rice silage (WCRS), as well as economic and environmental effects of various economic and management options in the systems. Five simulations were conducted using this model. The use of WCRS as a home-grown feed increased environmental loads and decreased economic benefit because of the higher amount of purchased feed, when compared to the use of typical crops such as maize, alfalfa and timothy silage (simulation 1). Higher economic benefits from higher forage rice yields and higher milk production of a dairy cow were obtained (simulations 2, 3). There were no economic and environmental incentives for utilizing crude protein (CP) rich WCRS, because an increase in the CP content in WCRS led to the use of more chemical fertilizers, resulting in high production costs and nitrogen outputs (simulation 4). When evaluated under the situation of a fixed herd size, increasing forage rice yields decreased the total benefit of the production, in spite of the fact that the amount of subsidies per unit of land increased (simulation 5). It was indicated that excess subsidy support may not promote yield of forage rice. It was, however, observed in most cases that dairy and forage rice integration systems could not be economically established without subsidies.

Rice husk ash를 이용한 토질안정처리 (Soil Stabilization with time and Rice Husk Ash)

  • 생석회 혼합처리에 의한 지반개량은 토중수의 흡수, 팽창 그리고 지반을 구성하고 있는 광물들과의 화학적 반응들에 의해 이루어지며, 흙 속에 함유된 실리카(SiO2)와 알루미나($Al_2O_3$)의 함유량이 혼합토의 강도개선에 크게 영향을 미친다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 실리카를 주 구성성분으로 하는 rice husk ash(RHA, $SiO_2$=91.65%, 왕겨재)를 생석회와 함께 첨가하여 연약토를 개량하고자 하였다. RHA가 첨가된 혼합토에 대한 각종 실험결과, 생석회에 의한 강도발현을 더욱 촉진시키고, 압축특성 및 팽창특성이 감소되는 것으로 나타났다. 대상토에서 유기물을 제거한 후 생석회와 RHA를 첨가한 경우, 유기물 함유율이 적을수록 혼합토의 강도가 증진되는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서, 지반 개량을 위한 첨가재로써 생석회만 사용하는 경우보다 2차 첨가재인 RHA를 첨가하는 것이 강도개선 및 압축특성 개선에 유효함을 확인할 수 있었다.

미곡종합처리장의 에너지 모델 개발(II) -시뮬레이션 모델 개발 및 소요 에너지 분석- (Development of an Energy Model of Rice Processing Complex(II) -Simulation Model Development and Analysis of Energy Requirement-)

  • The rice processing complex(RPC) consisted of the rice handling, drying, storage, and milling processes. It has been established at 83 locations domestically by April 1994, and 200 of RPC will be built more throughout the country. Therefore, this study has been performed to achieve two objectives as the followings : 1) Development of mathematical models which can assess the requirement of electricity, fuel, and labor for four model systems of rice processing complex. 2) Development of a computer simulation model which produce the improved designs of RPC by the evaluation results of energy requirements of four RPC models. The results from this study are summarized as follows : 1) Mathematical models were developed on the basis of result of mass balance analysis and required power of machines for each process. 2) A computer simulation model was developed, which can produce the improved designs of RPC by the evaluation results of energy requirements. The computer simulation model language was BORLAND $C^{++}$. 3) The results of simulation showed that total energy requirements were ranged from 75.94㎾h/t to 124.30㎾h/t. 4) From the results of computer analysis of energy requirement classified by drying type, it was found that energy requirement of the drying type A{paddy rice (PR) for storage-natural air drying(15%), PR for milling-heated air drying(16%)} were less than that of the drying type B{1 step-natural air drying(PR for storage : 18%, PR for milling : 20%), 2 step-heated air drying(PR for storage : 15%, PR for milling : 16%)}. 5) The energy efficient drying method is that all the incoming rough rice to RPC should be dried by national air drying systems. If it is more than the capacity of national air drying system, the amount of surplus rough rice is recommended to be dried by the heated air drying method.

자작농(自作農)과 소작농(小作農)의 경영성과(經營成果) 비교(比較) -충남지역(忠南地域) 현금수지분석(現金收支分析)- (Comparision of Farm Management between Land Owners and Tenants -Cash Income and Expenditure Analysis in Chungnam Province-)

  • This paper aims at identifying the positive economic effects of the tenant system. Increasing numbers of tenant farms is one of the characteristic aspects of Korean agriculture. They have increased 3.7 percent annually since 1960. At the end of 1985, 64.7 percent of the Korean farmers leased partly or entirely the farm land which they managed, and 30.5 percent of the total arable area was cultivated under the tenant system. To find out the difference in performance of management between land owners and tenants, 600 farm households were selected as samples throughout Chungnam province. Among those sampled were 300 land owners and 300 tenants. Tenants defined this paper include not only full tenants but also part tenants. The results of this study are summarized as; First, rice is the main income resource of tenant farms. Due to their rental charges, the marketable surplus of farm products might be lower than that of land owners. Whereas 40 percent of the landowners income is from rice production, the tenants income from rice production is 43 percent. Second, tenants continue to depend on more agricultural wage incoms and more double crop incomes in paddy fields than land owners. Third, like most poor people in the third world, they have maximized their incomes and minimized their expenditures by saving management costs. Finally, there was no interlinking between landlords and tenants especially related to credit supports. Most farmers in the surveyed area have met their credit requirements from agricultural cooperatives.

묵은 쌀(古米)을 사용한 탁주의 발효 특성 (Fermentation Characteristics of Takju Prepared with Old Rice)

  • 1998년에서 2001년도에 생산된 묵은 쌀의 일반성분에서는 2000년도 쌀이 11.3%로 가장 높게 나온 수분함량을 제외하고는 일반 쌀의 일반성분과 큰 차이는 없었다. 20분 수분흡수율과 120분 수분흡수율에서는 수분함량이 가장 높게 나타났던 2000년도 쌀이 각각 26.62%, 29.00%로 가장 낮게 나타났다. 호화특성에서는 호화개시온도 그리고 최고점도시의 온도가 오래 저장된 쌀이 높은 것으로 나타났고, 당화속도 비교에서는 1998년 시료가 당화속도가 다른 시료에 비해 24시간 경과시점에서는 늦었으나 36시간 이후에는 시료간의 차이가 없었다. 1998년에서 2001년도에 생산된 쌀을 이용하여 무증자법으로 탁주를 7일간 발효하였고 발효 특성과 선호도를 조사하였다. 무증자법으로 탁주를 담금한 후, 알코올 함량은 담금 5일째까지는 빠르게 증가하여 17.3-18.1%이고 그 중 1998년도 묵은 쌀이 가장 높았으며, 발효 7일째 최종 알코올함량은 17.5-18.2%로 역시 1998년도 묵은 쌀이 가장 높았으나 시료간의 차이는 크지 않았으며 일반 쌀과 마찬가지로 발효가 잘 진행됨을 알 수 있었다. 관능검사에서는 단맛, 신맛, 선호도에서 2000년산이 최고로 나타났으며 쓴맛에서는 1999년산이 최고로 나타났으나 각각에 대한 유의성은 나타나지 앓았다. 묵은 쌀 냄새를 비롯한 탁주에 악영향을 미치는 요인은 관능검사에서도 크게 나타나지 않았으며, 재고로 쌓여있는 묵은 쌀을 무증자 탁주 발효에 활용하면 충분히 사용 가능함을 알 수 있었다.

Effect of Replacing Corn Silage with Whole Crop Rice Silage in Total Mixed Ration on Intake, Milk Yield and Its Composition in Holsteins

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of replacing whole crop corn silage (WCCS) with whole crop rice silage (WCRS) in the total mixed ration (TMR) on nutrient intake, milk yield and its composition in Holstein cows. The Chucheong rice variety (Oryza sativa L. Japonica) and corn (Pioneer 32 P75) were harvested at yellow-ripe stage and were ensiled in round bales and in trench silos, respectively. Two TMR containing either WCCS or WCRS were prepared. These diets were randomly assigned to 16 midlactating Holstein cows (8 cows per treatment) and were fed for 120 days. The first 20 days were used for dietary adaptation and for the next 100 days daily feed intake, milk yield and its composition were recorded. The pH, lactic acid, NDF, ADF, CP, Ca and P contents were similar in WCRS and WCCS. The DM, ash and EE contents of WCRS were greater compared with WCCS. Nutrient (DM, NDF, TDN and CP) intakes were similar in cows fed WCCS- and WCRS-based TMR. Daily and 4% fat corrected milk yield were not affected by the treatments. Milk composition (percent milk fat, protein, lactose and total solids) was similar in cows fed either WCCS- or WCRSbased TMR. The concentration of milk urea N was greater in cows fed WCRS-based TMR than those fed WCCS-based TMR. In conclusion, round-baled WCRS can replace WCCS in the diet of mid- to late-lactating Holsteins without any deleterious effects on feed consumption, milk yield and its composition. The present findings raise the possibility that WCRS can be used as an alternative roughage source in the diets of dairy cows in countries with surplus rice production.

쌀의 품종과 입도를 달리한 탁주의 품질특성 (Characteristics of Takju with Different Varieties of Rice and Particle Size)

  • 식생활이 다양화되고 편의화 됨에 따라 쌀 소비량은 지속적인 감소 추세를 보이고 있다. 국내의 쌀 소비를 촉진시키고 쌀 수급 불균형을 해소하기 위해서는 주식으로서의 쌀 외에 쌀 가공식품 개발이 필요하다. 그 중에서 술을 이용한 쌀 소비는 다른 쌀 가공식품에 비해 높은 부가가치성을 지니므로 더욱 주목된다. 본 연구는 쌀 품종과 입도의 가공특성을 달리하여 탁주를 제조한 다음 품온, 당도, 알코올 함량, 산도, 아미노산가, pH, 색도 및 관능 등의 품질특성을 살펴본 것이다. 먼저 안다, 하이아미, 추청 세 품종의 쌀가루를 이용하여 무증자법으로 탁주를 제조한 다음 입도별 품질특성을 비교하였다. 모든 탁주 술덧의 품온은 담금 2일 후 최고 온도에 도달하였다. 품종에 따른 차이는 산도와 관능 평가에서만 나타났다. 산도의 경우 안다, 추청, 하이아미 순으로 높게 나타났고, 관능 평가는 추청이 가장 높게 나타났다. 입도별로는 알코올 함량과 산도는 중분쇄 쌀가루 탁주에서 높게 나타났고 담금 직후의 품온, 당도, 아미노산가, pH, 색도, 관능은 초미세 쌀가루 탁주에서 더 높게 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과 쌀 품종과 입도를 달리하여 제조한 무증자 탁주는 추청 초미세 쌀가루로 담그는 것이 효율적인 것으로 판단된다.

농업기계(農業機械)의 이용실태(利用實態)와 농작업(農作業)의 기계화율(機械化率)에 관(關)한 조사연구(調査硏究) (A Study on the Utilization of Farm Machinery and Mechanization Ratio)

  • The main purpose of this report is to analyse the utilization results of farm machinery, farm mechanization rate and influences on the farm household economy. These results are summarized as follows : 1) The annual working days of major farm machinery are from 34.3 to 68.8 days for power tillers and tractors ; 7.9 to 8.5 days for rice transplanters ; 3.6 to 6.9 days for binders ; and, from 18.6 to 20.6 days for combines. Also income and expenditures of the farm management reveals al surplus in major farm machinery except for binders. 2) The popularization rate of major farm machinery is currently low, reaching the level of the early 1970's in Japan and the level of the early 1980's in Taiwan for rice transplanters and harvesters respectively. 3) The farm mechanization rate is 81.7% in plowing & levelling, 66.3% in rice transplanting, 87.5% in pest and disease control, 62.1% in harvesting and 12.5% in drying. However the farm mechanization rate of rice transplanting, harvesting and drying still remains at a low level. 4) The composition rates of farm machinery and implements are 10.2% in farm management expenditures (23.6% in Japan) and 13.2% in fixed capitals (29.4% in Japan) which still reflect a low level, and below that of the 1970's in Japan. From these analysis results, farm mechanization contributes to the improvement of farm management. Nevertheless, the popularization status and mechanization rate are still at a low level in korea. Therefore, it is deemed desirable to furthure promote effective utilization methods and guide farmers in higher safety utilization and management technology.
