The tau-p inversion algorithm is widely employed to generate starting models with most computer programs, which implement refraction tomography. This algorithm emphasises the vertical resolution of many layers, and as a result, it frequently fails to detect even large lateral variations in seismic velocities, such as the decreases which are indicative of shear zones. This study demonstrates the failure of the tau-p inversion algorithm to detect or define a major shear zone which is 50m or 10 stations wide. Furthermore, the majority of refraction tomography programs parameterise the seismic velocities within each layer with vertical velocity gradients. By contrast, the Generalized Reciprocal Method (GRM) inversion algorithms emphasise the lateral resolution of individual layers. This study demonstrates the successful detection and definition of the 50m wide shear zone with the GRM inversion algorithms. The existence of the shear zone is confirmed by a 2D analysis of the head wave amplitudes and by numerous closely spaced orthogonal seismic profiles carried out as part of a later 3D refraction investigation. Furthermore, an analysis of the shot record amplitudes indicates that a reversal in the seismic velocities, rather than vertical velocity gradients, occurs in the weathered layers. The major conclusion reached in this study is that while all seismic refraction operations should aim to provide as accurate depth estimates as is practical, those which emphasise the lateral resolution of individual layers generate more useful results for geotechnical and environmental applications. The advantages of the improved lateral resolution are obtained with 2D traverses in which the structural features can be recognised from the magnitudes of the variations in the seismic velocities. Furthermore, the spatial patterns obtained with 3D investigations facilitate the recognition of structural features such as faults which do not display any intrinsic variation or 'signature' in seismic velocities.
The reaction of gas-phase atomic hydrogen with hydrogen atoms chemisorbed on Fe(110) surface is studied by use of classical trajectory procedures. Flow of energy between the reaction zone and bulk solid phase has been treated in the generalized Langevin equation approach. A London-Eyring-Polanyi-Sato energy surface is used for the reaction zone interaction. Most reactive events are found to occur in strong single-impact collisions on a subpicosecond scale via the Eley-Rideal mechanism. The extent of reaction is large and a major fraction of the available energy goes into the vibrational excitation of H2, exhibiting a vibrational population inversion. Dissipation of reaction energy to the heat bath can be adequately described using a seven-atom chain with the chain end bound to the rest of solid. The extent of reaction is not sensitive to the variation of surface temperature in the range of Ts=0-300 K in the fixed gas temperature, but it shows a minimum near 1000 K over the Tg=300-2500 K.
The dispersion of suspended particulates in the coastal complex terrain of mountain-inland basin (city)-sea, considering their recycling was investigated using three-dimensional non-hydrostatic numerical model and lagrangian particle model (or random walk model). Convective boundary layer under synoptic scale westerly wind is developed with a thickness of about I km over the ground in the west of the mountain, while a thickness of thermal internal boundary layer (TIBL) is only confined to less than 200m along the eastern slope of the mountain, below an easterly sea breeze circulation. At the mid of the eastern slop of the mountain, westerly wind confronts easterly sea breeze, which goes to the height of 1700 m above sea level and is finally eastward return flow toward the sea. At this time, particulates floated from the ground surface of the city to the top of TIBL go along the eastern slope of the mountain in the passage of sea breeze, being away the TIBL and reach near the top of the mountain. Then those particulates disperse eastward below the height of sea-breeze circulation and widely spread out over the coastal sea. Total suspended particulate concentration near the ground surface of the city is very low. On the other hand, nighttime radiative cooling produces a shallow nocturnal surface inversion layer (NSIL) of 200 m thickness over the inland surface, but relatively thin thickness less than 100m is found near the mountain surface. As synoptic scale westerly wind should be intensified under the association of mountain wind along the eastern slope of mountain to inland plain and further combine with land-breeze from inland plain toward sea, resulting in strong wind as internal gravity waves with a hydraulic jump motion bounding up to about 1km upper level in the atmosphere in the west of the city and becoming a eastward return flow. Simultaneously, wind near the eastern coastal side of the city was moderate. Since the downward strong wind penetrated into the city, the particulate matters floated near the top of the mountain in the day also moved down along the eastern slope of the mountain, reaching the. downtown and merging in the ground surface inside the NSIL with a maximum ground level concentration of total suspended particulates (TSP) at 0300 LST. Some of them were bounded up from the ground surface to the 1km upper level and the others were forward to the coastal sea surface, showing their dispersions from the coastal NSIL toward the propagation area of internal gravity waves. On the next day at 0600 LST and 0900 LST, the dispersed particulates into the coastal sea could return to the coastal inland area under the influence of sea breeze and the recycled particulates combine with emitted ones from the ground surface, resulting in relatively high TSP concentration. Later, they float again up to the thermal internal boundary layer, following sea breeze circulation.

$BiNbO_4:RE^{3+}$ (RE = Dy, Eu, Sm, Tb) phosphors were prepared by solid-state reaction at $1100^{\circ}C$ and their structural, photoluminescent, and morphological properties were investigated. XRD patterns exhibited that all the synthesized phosphors exhibited a triclinic system with a dominant (210) diffraction peak, irrespective of the type of activator ions. The surface morphologies of rare-earth-ion-doped $BiNbO_4$ phosphors were found to depend strongly on the type of activator ions. The $Eu^{3+}$ and $Dy^{3+}$ doped $BiNbO_4$ phosphors revealed a strong red (613 nm) emission resulting from the $^5D_0{\rightarrow}^7F_2$ transition of $Eu^{3+}$ and a dominant yellow (575 nm) emission originating from the $^4F_{9/2}{\rightarrow}^6H_{13/2}$ transition of $Dy^{3+}$ respectively, which were the electric dipole transitions, indicating that the activator ions occupy sites of non-inversion symmetry in the $BiNbO_4$ phosphor. The main reddish-orange emission spectra of $Sm^{3+}$-doped $BiNbO_4$ phosphors were due to the $^4G_{5/2}{\rightarrow}^6H_{7/2}$ (607 nm) magnetic dipole transition, indicating that the $Sm^{3+}$ ions were located at inversion symmetry sites in the $BiNbO_4$ host lattice. As for $Tb^{3+}$-doped phosphors, green emission was obtained under excitation at 353 nm and its CIE chromaticity coordinates were (0.274, 0.376). These results suggest that multicolor emission can be achieved by changing the type of activator ions incorporated into the $BiNbO_4$ host crystal.
The reaction of gas-phase hydrogen atoms H with H atoms chemisorbed on a graphite surface has been studied by the classical dynamics. The graphite surface is composed of the surface and 10 inner layers at various gas and surface temperatures (Tg, Ts). Three chains in the surface layer and 13 chains through the inner layers are considered to surround the adatom site. Four reaction pathways are found: H2 formation, H-H exchange, H desorption, and H adsorption. At (1500 K, 300 K), the probabilities of H2 formation and H desorption are 0.28 and 0.24, respectively, whereas those of the other two pathways are in the order of 10-2. Half the reaction energy deposits in the vibrational motion of H2, thus leading to a highly excited state. The majority of the H2 formation results from the chemisorption-type H(g)-surface interaction. Vibrational excitation is found to be strong for H2 formed on a cold surface (~10 K), exhibiting a pronounced vibrational population inversion. Over the temperature range (10-100 K, 10 K), the probabilities of H2 formation and H-H exchange vary from 0 to ~0.1, but the other two probabilities are in the order of 10-3.
Recently as the interest in the development of domestic ore deposits has increased, we can easily find some studies on exploration geophysics-based ore-deposit survey in literature. Based on the fact that mineralized zone are generally more conductive than surrounding media, electrical resistivity survey among several geophysical surveys has been applied to investigate metallic ore deposits. Most of them are grounded on 2-D survey. However, 2-D inversion may lead to some misinterpretation for 3-D geological structures. In this study, we investigate the feasibility of the 3-D electrical resistivity survey to 3-D vein-type ore deposits. We first simulate 2-D dipole-dipole survey data for survey lines normal to the strike and 3-D pole-pole survey data, and then perform 3-D inversion. For 3-D ore-body structures, we assume a width-varying dyke, a wedge-shaped, and a fault model. The 3-D inversion results are compared to 2-D inversion results. By comparing 3-D inversion results for 2-D dipole-dipole survey data to 3-D inversion results for 3-D pole-pole survey data, we could note that the 2-D dipole-dipole survey data yield better inversion results than the 3-D pole-pole data, which is due to the main characteristic of the pole-pole array. From these results, we are convinced that if we have certain information on the direction of the strike, it would be desirable to apply 2-D dipole-diple survey for the survey lines normal to the strike. However, in most cases, we do not have any information on the direction of the strike, because we already developed the ore deposit with the outcrops and the remaining ore deposits are buried under the surface. In that case, performing 3-D pole-pole electrical resistivity survey would be a reasonable choice to obtain more accurate interpretation on ore body structure in spite of low resolution of pole-pole array.

The skin is divided into three parts: the epidermis, the dermis, and the subcutaneous fat, and the stratum corneum, which is located at the top of the epidermis, acts as a barrier that prevents drug delivery. Nanoemulsions are known to be effective in transdermal delivery of drugs through intercellular lipids because of their unique small particle size. In this study, phase inversion temperature (PIT) nanoemulsion containing α-bisabolol was optimized using response surface methodology (RSM) for effective skin absorption of α-bisabolol. As a preliminary experiment, the 25-2 fractional factorial design method and the 23 full factorial design method were performed. Box-Behnken design was performed based on the results of the factorial design method. The content of surfactant (6.3~12.6%), co-surfactant (5.2~7.8%) and α-bisabolol (0.5~5.0%) were used as factors, and the dependent variable was the particle size of the nanoemulsion. PIT nanoemulsion optimization was performed according to the RSM results, and as a result, the optimal nanoemulsion formulation conditions were predicted to be 10.4% surfactant content, 6.3% co-surfactant content, and 5.0% α-bisabolol content. As a result of the skin absorption test, the final skin absorption rate of the PIT nanoemulsion was 35.11±1.01%, and the final skin absorption rate of the general emulsion as a control was 28.25±1.69%, confirming that the skin absorption rate of the PIT nanoemulsion was better.
The surface properties such as energy gap, exciton, shallow trap level, deep trap level, type inversion with annealing and metastable state of $EL_2$ level of SI GaAs wafers and the conductivity distribution of 2 inch Cr doped GaAs wafer were investigated using nondestructive TAV(transverse acoustoelectric voltage) technique. The TAV is generated when SAW and semiconductor interact. We also have tried newly SAW oscillator technique to investigate the surface properties of semiconductor wafers and we have shown the validity of this technique.
Diurnal variations of coastal surface wind speed are analyzed with five years of hourly wind from Port Aransas, Texas. These data reveal the highest frequency of occurrence of the nighttime wind maximum near midnight, especially during those seasons when onshore flow prevails. Nighttime wind maxima with a southerly component occurred approximately three times more frequently than with a northerly component on the annual average. The neutral atmospheric stability prevails near the coast. Thus it allows downward transfer of momentum from the nocturnal low level jet under the onshore wind situation and strong wind shear between an elevated frontal and ground-based inversion for offshore wind, resulting in the nocturnal coastal surface wind maximum.

This paper reports the studies of the inversion layer mobility in p-channel Si MOSFET's under hot-carrier degradated condition. The validity of relationship of hot carrier degradations between the surface effective mobility and field effect mobility and are examined. The effective mobility(${\mu}$$\_$eff/) is derived from the channel conductances, while the field-effect mobility(${\mu}$$\_$FE/) is obtained from the transconductance. The characteristics of mobility curves can be divided into the 3 parts of curves. It was reported that the mobility degradation is due to phonon scattering, coulombic scattering and surface roughness. We are measured the mobility slope in curves with DC-stress [V$\_$g/=-3.1v]. It was found that the mobility(${\mu}$$\_$eff/ and ${\mu}$$\_$FE/) of p-MOSFET's was increased by increasing stress time and decreasing channel length. Because of the increasing stress time and increasing V$\_$g/ is changed oxide reliability and increased vertical field.
