A new analysis method of the polished ferrule surface using monocular vision and geometrical relation (단일 카메라와 기하학적 관계를 이용한 새로운 Ferrule면의 가공 정도 분석방법)

  • 광섬유를 이용한 광스위치 연결작업에 있어서 페룰(Ferrule)면의 가공정도는 광커넥터 작업의 성패를 자우하는 매우 중요한 요소이다. 종래의 방법에서는 페룰면을 육안 검사나 현미경을 통한 확대 검사등의 방법을 사용하였고 자동화 검사의 경우도 절대적인 평탄도나 진원도를 나타내는 절대적인 값을 제시하고 있지 못한 단점이 있다. 이를 보완하기 위하여 카메라 입력단에 사각형의 기하 구조를 설치하고 이를 기준으로 영상을 전면에서 본 영상으로 변환하여 페룰면의 가공정도를 나타내주는 변수를 추출하는 새로운 방법을 제안하였다. 또한 실제 구현을 통하여 알고리즘의 강인성을 증명하였다.

An experimental study on the atomizing characteristics of liquid column type coaxial sprays (액주형 동축노즐 분무의 무화특성에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • The main purpose of this study is to investigate the atomizing characteristics of a two phase spray by using a liquid column type coaxial nozzle. The experiments have been carried out to analyze the atomization behavior, the droplet size distributions, and the statistical properties of droplet size distributions. Immersion sampling method and the image processing technique were adapted for the measurements of particles, and the distributions of the droplet sizes were statistically analyzed. In the experiments, the mass ratio defined as Mr= $M_{\sigma}$/ $M_{1}$ has been changed from 1.0 to 3.4 and the measurements have been performed along the axis of the spray. As a result of this experimental study, the distributions of droplet size were satisfied with the Log-Normal distributions and arithmetic mean diameter and deviation of mass ratio. Droplet volume-surface mean diameter was denoted by a exponential function of mass-ratio and the exponent was denoted by linear relation according to the central axis from the nozzle. Dispersions, skewness factors and flatness factors had comparatively constant values regardless of mass ratio and location.

TMAH/IPA Anisotropic Etching Characteristics with Addition of Pyrazine (Pyrazine이 첨가된 TMAH/IPA 이방성 식각특성)

  • This work presents the TMAH/IPA anisotropic etching characteristics with addition of Pyrazine. (100) Si etching rate of 0.747 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$/min at 8$0^{\circ}C$ was obtained using TMAH 25 wt.% / IPA 17 vol.% / pyrazine 0.1 g. The etching rate of (100) Si is increased about 52% compare to pure TMAH 25 wt.%. But etching rate of (100) Si is decreased with increasing Pyrazine additive. Activation energy of TMAH/IPA/pyrazine is much lower than TMAH and TMAH/IPA solutions. Addition of Pyrazine does not effect on surface flatness and decreases undercutting ratio about 20 %. Therefore, TMAH/IPA/pyrazine is an attractive anisotropic etchant because of alkaline-ion free.

  • Flat panel image display devices such as TFT LCD and PDP have required more large area and high quality control components. To control the qualities of the components, measurements of the flatness of a plate glass has been required. In order to measure the shape of the specular objects, Non-Contact Optical Sensor using Hologram laser unit was proposed. The sensor has a optical system that is composed of a Hologram laser and objective lens. The temperature of the sensor body is controlled by TEC(Thermoelectric Cooler) to maintain the same wavelength of the diode laser. In this research, we proposed the calibration scheme to make sensor real time measuring sensor. From the experimental results we see that the proposed sensor unit can measure the position of the glass surface in rial time.

Study on the Aerodynamic Performance of Low Reynolds Airfoils using a Regression Analysis (회귀분석을 이용한 저(低)레이놀즈수 익형 공력성능 연구)

  • Using a multiple regression analysis, a total of 78 low-Reynolds-number airfoils are examined in this paper to clarify the systematic relationships between the geometrical parameters of the airfoils and experimentally-determined aerodynamic coefficients. The results show that the effects of the maximum camber and the maximum thickness regarding the maximum lift and the stalling angle of attack, respectively, are major. The lower-surface flatness of the airfoil is also a crucial geometrical parameter for aerodynamic performance. It is proven here that, generally, the application of the regression equations for an assessment of the aerodynamic performance is relatively acceptable, along with an expectation that the lift-curve slope violates the normality assumption.

  • The charcterization of optical lithography on the step and repeat projection system is studied. Parameters that influence optical lithography were analyzed and the experiment was performed on the mask of $\pm$ 5rm, the surface flatness. From the experiment, the relationship between linewidth diviation on defocus and linewidth shift on exposure of the small features is obtained. Conditions maintaining good uniformity of small features from these relation-ships is presented.

Miniaturization of an Ultra-Wideband Antenna with Two Spiral Elements

  • In this letter, novel antennas with two spiral elements are presented for ultra-wideband application. The original antenna consists of a T-shaped microstrip feed line, two spiral radiating elements, and a ground plane with two circular slots. It measures 30 mm ${\times}$ 40 mm ${\times}$ 1.6 mm. Spiral elements are used to increase the lower bandwidth limit. To further reduce the size of the antenna, the original antenna is cut in half by using the symmetry of the surface current distributions. The proposed antennas feature omnidirectional radiation patterns and good gain flatness.

  • Mg alloy is widely used for the IT, auto and consumer electronics industries. Semi-solid casting(SSC) of magnesium alloys is used to produce high quality components. SSC process is analogous with the injection molding of plastics. The high strength and low weight characteristics of magnesium alloys render the high-precision fabrication of thin-walled components with large surface areas. To produce thin-walled magnesium alloy parts, SSC process parameters on the quality of the finished product should be clearly studied. In this paper, to select optimal process parameters, Taguchi method is applied to the optimal design of the process parameters in the SSC process. The die temperature, injection velocity and barrel temperature of the SSC process are selected for the process parameters. The effectiveness of the optimal design is verified through the CAE software.

  • Burr generated on plate holder should be removed through additional process, because it has an influence on the function of automotive seat recliner. The process layout to perform simultaneously embossing and half blanking of plate holder has been developed in this study in order to minimize the influence of burr formation. The optimal process condition to satisfy the required dimensional accuracy of plate holder has been determined using Taguchi method and finite element analysis. It has been shown from experimental results that the proposed method is decidedly superior to the previous FCF method from the aspect of sheared surface, roll-over, flatness and burr height.

  • TiN coated films exhibit excellent mechanical properties such as high wear, erosion and corrosion resistances and a high thermal stability. Therefore, they are widely applied to a coating material in tools, ornaments, parts and semiconductors. However, the fracture of TiN coated films frequently occurs. The distribution of preferred orientations, i.e., texture, of TiN coated films strongly influences the fracture behavior of these films. In the present study. various TiN coating layers having different textures were prepared by the reactive ion physical vapor deposition and the texture dependence of friction coefficient, erosion and corrosion in these coating layers was investigated. The sample depicting the (115) texture parallel to the coating layer normal displayed a flatter surface than that observed from the sample having the (111) texture. The friction coefficient of TiN thin films was hardly dependent on the texture of coated samples. The samples having (115) texture displayed higher wear, erosion and corrosion resistances than the samples having (111) texture.
