In this work, the electro-magnetic interference (EMI) characteristics of PAN-based carbon fibers-reinforced composites are investigated with difference to manufactural parameters, i.e., fiber grade, fiber orientation angle, and laminating method. As a result, EMI shielding effectiveness (SE) of the composites greatly depends on a fiber orientation in composite angle. Especially, the fiber grade affects SE of composites in case of orientation angle of 0$^{\circ}$. Then the SE become greater as the change of electric character according to the arrangement directions, i.e., electrical anisotropy in the same constituent materials. This is due to the skin effect which is represented in the surface of electro-magnetic wave in high-frequency range. In all cases according to lamination methods, the composites represents SE of 83~98% over. Whereas, in symmetric and unsymmetric laminate structures, the SE decreases slightly as the laminate angles of composites increases. On the contrary. the repeating laminates structure shows the opposite tendency. Especially, 90$^{\circ}$ repeating laminate structure shows the SE more than 90% over the measuring frequency.
To obtain the input data for the design and long-tenn performance assessment of a high-level waste repository, the thermal conductivities of several granite rocks which were taken from the rock cores from the declined borehole were measured. The rock specimens were sampled at the various depths from the surface, and the thermal conductivity was measured under the dry and water-saturated conditions. Under the dry condition, the thermal conductivities of the granite rocks decrease with increasing porosity and range from 2.1 W/mK to 3.1 W/mK. The water-saturated rock samples showed greater thermal conductivities than the dry samples, and the thermal conductivities of the granite rocks range from 2.9 W/mK 3.6 W/mK. The anisotropy effects on the thermal conductivity of granite of the site seem to be insignificant.
Purpose : Bone mineral density (BMD) and bone microarchitecture are important determinants for bone strength. Recently micro-CT have provided possibilities for measuring a variety of structural indices to characterize bone microarchitecture. The objective of this study was to compare the BMD and micro-CT parameters with Young's modulus calculated by finite element analysis (FEA) for the evaluation of bone strength. Materials and Methods Bone specimens were obtained from the 18 female rabbits aged 16 weeks. Of those, 36 samples (right and left femur) were selected for 3D micro-CT analysis $(ANT^{TM},\;SKYSCAN,\;Belgium)$ and BMD by PIXlmus 2 (GE Lunar Co. USA). Five microstructural parameters of micro-CT, such as trabecular thickness (Tb.Th), bone specific surface (BS/BV), percent bone volume (BV/TV), structure model index (SMI) and degree of anisotropy (DOA) were studied. Young's modulus was obtained by software program (ANSYS 9.0, ANSYS Inc, Canonsburg, PA) based on micro-CT three dimensional images. Results : Young's modulus assessed by FEA correlated significantly with Tb.Th, BV/TV, BS/BV and SMI respectively. Young's modulus showed higher correlation with these rnicrostructural parameters of micro-CT than BMD. Microstructural parameters except DOA showed significant correlations within the examined group. Conclusion The microarchitectural parameters o( micro-CT and BMD represented some informations in the evaluation of bone strength assessed by FEA.
Grain boundary diffusion technique with $DyH_3$ nanoparticles was applied to fabricate Dy-less sintered Nd-Fe-B permanent magnets with high coercivity. The magnetic properties and microstructure of magnets were systematically studied. The coercivity and remanence of grain boundary diffusion magnet were improved by 60% and reduced by 7% compared with those of the original magnet, respectively. Meanwhile, both the remanence temperature coefficient (${\alpha}$) and the coercivity temperature coefficient (${\beta}$) of the magnets were improved after diffusion treatment. Investigation shows that Dy is preferentially enriched as (Nd, Dy)$_2Fe_{14}B$ phase in the surface region of the $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$ matrix grains indicated by the remarkable enhancement of the magneto-crystalline anisotropy field of the magnet. As a result, the magnet diffused with a small amount of Dy nanoparticles possesses enhanced coercivity without remarkably sacrificing its magnetization.
The effects of the substrate temperature and the Pd underlayer on the structure and the magnetic properties of Pd/Co multilayer films prepared by the thermal evaporation were studied. As the substrate temperature increases up to $150^{\circ}C$, the crystallinity of sublayers, (111) texture and the interface sharpness of Pd/Co multilayers were improved due to the enhanced mobility of adatoms. As results of that, the perpendicular and surface anisotropy energies were increased but the coercivity was decreased because the pinning sites of domain wall decreased due to the grain growth. The grain size of the multilayers increased with Pd underlyer thickness. Thermal degradation was enhanced at above $200^{\circ}C$ due to interdiffusion at the Pd/Co interface. The intensity of the main diffraction peak rapidly decayed in the initial stage of aging and then decreased slowly. The rapid change of the intensity in the initial stage was speculated to be due to the structural relaxation phenomena and the later stage change was due to the interdiffusion. The activation energy for the interdiffusion in Pd4/Co1 multilayers was 14.9 KCal/mole.K.
The aim of study was to investigate the effect of flow, specimen geometry and adhesion on the measurement of linear polymerization shrinkage of light cured composite resins using linear shrinkage measuring device. Four commercially available composites - an anterior posterior hybrid composite Z100, a posterior packable composite P60 and two flowable composites, Filtek flow and Tetric flow-were studied. The linear polymerization shrinkage of composites was determined using 'bonded disc method' and 'non-bond-ed' free shrinkage method at varying C-factor in the range of 1∼8 by changing specimen geometry. These measured linear shrinkage values were compared with free volumetric shrinkage values. The viscosity and flow of composites were determined and compared by measuring the dropping speed of metal rod under constant load. In non-bonded method, the linear shrinkage approximated one third of true volumetric shrink-age by isotropic contraction. However, in bonded disc method, as the bonded surface increased the linear shrinkage increased up to volumetric shrinkage value by anisotropic contraction. The linear shrinkage value increased with increasing C-factor and approximated true volumetric shrinkage and reached plateau at about C-factor 5∼6. The more flow the composite was, reduced linear shrinkage was measured by compensation radial flow.
In order to investigate the annealing effect for RF magnetron sputtered $Ni_{83}Fe_{17}$ thin films, we have studied the spin wave rehaviors by FMR after annealing the samples at $135^{\circ}C,\;225^{\circ}C$ in air and at $160^{\circ}C,\;220^{\circ}C,\;330^{\circ}C,\;390^{\circ}C\;and\;420^{\circ}C$ in argon gas for one hour respectively. In FMR spectra for the films annealed in argon gas and the assputtered film at perpendicular resonance, only odd numrer spin waves are observed. But even numrer spin waves are observed for the film annealed in air at $225^{\circ}C$ recause of the large difference retween both surface magnetic anisotropy. In the case of the sample annealed at $420^{\circ}C$ in argon gas, the spin waves are shifted toward high field, can due to the increase of saturation magnetization during annealing. The spacings retween the spin wave resonance fields are narrowed rapidly, this is thought that the magnetic homogeneity increased in the film after annealing at high temperature.

A suction caisson has been widely used for anchor and foundation of offshore structures due to its broad application, simple installation, and rapid construction. In design of suction caisson foundation, the bearing capacity and the stability of soil are mainly dealt with and analysis methods for them are presented in design codes related to the foundation. On the other hand, the method for structural safety analysis of the suction caisson is not generalized, in particular for load modeling of the caisson under suction. Consequently, there are difficulties in design of the caisson cross section. For this reason, this study analyzed the magnitude and distribution of pore water pressure on inner and outer surface of the caisson using theoretical and numerical seepage analyse, and an approach to reasonably estimate the load applied to the structural analysis of the caisson was presented. Furthermore, effects of penetration depth, anisotropy of permeability, and suction pressure on the pore water pressure were analyzed.
A series of calibration chamber tests are performed to investigate the spatial distribution of the excess porewater pressure due to piezocone penetration into overconsolidated clays. It was observed that the excess porewater pressure increases monotonically from the piezocone surface to the outer boundary of the shear zone and then decreases logarithmically, approaching zero at the outer boundary of the plastic zone. It was also found that the size of the shear zone decreases from approximately 2.2 to 1.5 times the cone radius with increasing OCR, while the plastic radius is about 11 times the piezocone radius, regardless of the OCR. Based on the modified Cam clay model and the cylindrical cavity expansion theory, the expressions to predict the Initial porewater pressure at the piezocone were developed, considering the effects of the strain rate and stress anisotropy. The method of predicting the spatial distribution of excess porewater pressure proposed in this study was verified by comparing it with the porewater pressure measured in overconsolidated specimens in the calibration chamber.
At the commissioning phase of KVN from 2009 to 2013, single-dish survey and monitoring observations were performed toward about 1000 evolved stars and about 60 relatively strong SiO and H2O maser sources respectively. Based on these single-dish results and VLBI feasibility test observations at K/Q/W/D bands in 2014, KVN Key Science Project (KSP) has started from 2015 and will be completed in 2019 as KSP phase I. Here we present the overview of observational studies on evolved stars using KVN. In KSP phase I, we have focused on nine KSP sources which show a successful astrometrically registered maps of SiO and H2O masers using the source frequency phase referencing method. We aim at investigating the spatial structure and dynamical effect from 43/42/86/129 GHz SiO to 22 GHz H2O maser regions associated with a stellar pulsation and development of asymmetry in circumstellar envelopes. Using the combined network KaVA (KVN+Japanese VLBI network VERA), KaVA Large Program titled on "Expanded Study on Stellar Masers: ESTEMA Phase I" was performed from 2015 to 2016. Based on ESTEMA Phase I, EAVN Large Program titled on "EAVN Synthesis of Stellar Maser Animations: ESTEMA Phase II" was also performed from 2018. The ESTEMA II project aims to publish composite animations of circumstellar H2O and SiO masers, which taken from up to 6 long-period variable stars with a variety of the pulsation periods (333-1000 days). The animations will exhibit the three-dimensional kinematics of the maser gas clumps with complexity caused by stellar pulsation-driven shock waves and anisotropy of clump ejections from the stellar surface. Adding three EAVN telescopes (Tianma 65m, Nanshan 26m and NRO 45m telescopes) with KaVA always secures the high quality of the maser image frames through the monitoring program.
