여자전류에 따른 저온초전도전원장치의 3차원 정자계 유한요소 시뮬레이션 (3-D Magnetostatic Finite Element Simulation of a Low-Tc Superconducting Power Supply with Respect to the Excitation Current)

  • In this paper, 3-D magnetostatic finite element simulation of a rotux type Low-Tc superconducing (LTS) superconducting power supply, finite element method, cryogenic system, superconducting foil by generated magnetic flux from the rotating pole. The magnetic flux density on the superconducting foil caused by two exciters is therefore sufficiently greater than its critical magnetic flux density and it is an essential point in LTS power supply design. To establish the sufficient flux path of this machine, ferromagnetic materials is used in this power supply. When ferromagnetic materials is used at extremely low temperature, its characteristic of magnetization differs to that at room temperature. For this reason, special consideration is needed in the magnetic analysis of cryogenic systems. When the excitation current is 10A, the normal spot appears on superconducting foil. The results of this analysis are calculated and compared with the experimental results. The linkage flux due to the excitation current of 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50A are respectively $1.30{\times}10-4$, $2.67{\times}10-4$, $5.08{\times}10-4$ and $6.15{\times}10-4Wb$.

  • Bi-2223/Ag HTS wires have been fabricated by the PIT(powder in tube)process. Intermediate annealing was carried out to increase the homogenization and uniformity of the superconducting filaments embedded in the silver matrix during the deformation process that is important to sustain the engineering critical current density in long superconducting wire. Intermediate annealing act to release the deformation hardening of the superconducting wires during drawing process. Rolling parameters were investigated to roll the superconducting tapes with uniform thickness, width and winding tensions. Critical current of 60 m long superconducting tapes was measured 54.3 A continuously after final sintering heat treatment. The phase analysis of Bi-2223/Ag superconducting tapes are examined by the XRD.

A brief review on recent developments of superconducting microwave resonators for quantum device application

  • Quantum information processing using superconducting qubit based on Josephson junction has become one of the most promising candidates for possible realization of a quantum computer. In the heart of the qubit circuits, the superconducting microwave resonator plays a key role in quantum operations and measurements, which enables single-photon level microwave quantum optics. During last decade, the coherence time, or the lifetime of the quantum state, of the superconducting qubit has been dramatically improved. Among several technological innovations, the improvement of superconducting microwave resonator's quality has been the main driving force in getting the qubit performance almost ready for elementary quantum computing architecture. In this paper, I will briefly review very recent progresses of the superconducting microwave resonators especially aimed for quantum device applications during the last decade. The progresses have been driven by ingenious circuit design, material improvement, and new measurement techniques. Even a rather radical idea of three-dimensional large resonators have been successfully implemented in a qubit circuit. All those efforts contributed to our understanding of the qubit decoherence mechanism and as a result to the improvement of qubit performance.

대용량 전력 전송을 위한 초전도 전력케이블의 교류손실 특성 분석 (AC Loss Characteristic Analysis of Superconducting Power Cable for High Capacity Power Transmission)

  • 점차적으로 늘어나는 전력 수요의 공급을 원활히 하기 위해서 발전 설비 뿐만 아니라 전력을 전송하기 위한 전력케이블의 증설도 반드시 필요하다. 하지만 대부분의 도심지에 전력을 공급하기 위한 전력케이블의 증설은 추가적인 케이블의 설치공사를 위한 공간을 필요로 하고 현재 국내 도심지에 케이블 설치를 위한 공간이 부족한 실정이다. 이에 동일한 사이즈로 더 많은 전력을 전송할 수 있는 초전도 전력 케이블은 부족한 케이블의 설치공간을 극복할 수 있는 대안으로 등장하였다. 하지만 대용량의 전력 전송의 이점을 가지고 있는 초전도 전력케이블은 교류 시스템에서의 일부 손실을 가지고 있다. 따라서 교류 전력 전송 시스템에서 초전도 전력 케이블을 도입하기 위해서는 교류손실의 설계 및 분석이 반드시 필요하다. 이에 본 논문에서는 다양한 초전도 전력케이블의 교류 손실 분석을 통하여 실제 초전도 전력 케이블의 제조 및 실계통 적용에 고려하고자 한다. 단일 초전도 선재에 대한 교류 손실의 이론적인 계산 방법은 존재하지만 많은 수로 구성된 초전도 전력 케이블의 교류손실 계산은 쉽지가 않다. 저자는 초전도의 E-J (Electric field-current density) 특성이 고려된 전자기적 유한요소해석법을 이용하여 다양한 종류의 초전도 전력케이블 교류 손실을 분석하고자 한다. 또한 본 초전도 전력케이블의 교류손실 특성 분석은 실계통에 적용될 초전도 전력케이블의 설계 및 개발에 중요한 요소로 작용될 것이다.   • Multifilamentary superconducting wires exposed to an alternating field generate the coupling loss and hysteresis loss. The geometric shapes of multifilamentary superconducting wire are very complicate, and loss generating mechanism is too. In this paper, coupling loss of superconducting wire in case of twelve filament is calculated by two dimensional numerical analysis, and compared with value of conventional formulus. The basic idea of this calculating method is potential difference of external transverse field.

  • In this paper, a new design method for superconducting pulse magnet is presented. Given energy storage capacity, magnet shape parameters are determined to minimize superconducting material quantity. Once the shape parameters are determined, cooling channel is designed and degradation characteristics are confirmed. According to the proposed magnet design concept, relatively uniform and low field distribution is obtained. Therefore, both the quantity of superconducting material and the mechanical load over magnet are reduced.

  • Superconducting cable (Ic: 60 A at 77K. 10 filaments) with Bi high-Tc superconducting system was developed by powder - in - tube method. Pressing and sintering process of the cables were repeated for growth of 2223 high-Tc superconducting phase. The cable can be fabricate by twist method that is nessary for high current density and cooled circulative system. This cab1e system can be used for commercial.

  • For the first time in Korea, a 30kVA superconducting generator has been designed, developed and successfully tested recently. This is the forerunner of a 1MVA superconducting generator which is currently under development. The paper discusses the design, development and cooling experience of a superconducting rotor. This has 3 passages of the recovered Helium gas and a gas flow control system.

  • Dry winding is generally adopted in superconducting coils of an UPS system. In these kinds of coils a quench is often initiated by a disturbance such as wire motion that generates a highly localized normal zone in a superconducting wire. To fabricate the stable coils, stability of the superconducting wire should be touched. In this paper, a model for a transient stability analysis of the wire is suggested. The influence of a local disturbance, cooling, an external field and a stabilizer to superconductor ratio on the wire stability is investigated and discussed.

Estimation of Effective Coil Length of Superconducting Generator using 3D FEM

  • This paper presents a method to estimate an effective length of a 1000-kVA superconducting generator using three-dimensional FE analysis. Flux linkage of stator coil and the induced voltage are calculated with FEM program and Faraday's law. An effective length of the stator coil is estimated using the calculated voltage and geometric configurationn of the machine. In order to verify the estimation method, 30-kVA superconducting generator is built and tested. The test result agrees reasonably well with the estimation.
